Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2002 Here's the method to do this. Take a match from the start (when the bell rings) to the end (when three is counted), copy and paste it into a window. Save the match. Go to a directory and look at the size of it. For example: it could be 1.66KB 1.66KB will turn into the number 1660 for this. Divide 1660 by 16.66666. and you get 99.60. Which means the 1.66KB match, under my formula, is 99 seconds long. Let me try it on a few guinea pigs. #1- Edwin v. Chris from the last PPV. #2- Sharpe v. Blank, my version of it. #1 is 45.2KB, first off, I alter that to 45.20KB, if I don't and I put it in, it will read it as a 4.52KB match. Second, I add the zero, making it 45200 and divide by 16.66666, which gives me 2712 seconds. Some more addition determines that Edwin MacPhisto's title win over Chris Wilson to have been done in 45 minutes, 12 seconds. Now, to #2. #2 is 16.3KB, which is changed to 16300 (add an 0, since the KB should be four digits [yes, if it was 4.52KB, it'd be fine, 04.52KB, four digits. Exception granted for those 100KB matches] and add another 0 to the thing), divide that by 16.666, and I get 978 seconds. Convert that and I get an answer, which is 16 minutes, 12 seconds. Any comments or possible quirks you've run into with all this? ReD
Guest Beingz0wningj00 Report post Posted September 4, 2002 Oi! I think people can judge through pacing and the length pretty easily.

Guest Ace309 Report post Posted September 4, 2002 The only complaint or issue I might have would be where a writers vary the amount of description or commentary. Some writers write a lot of moves with very little description, and some do the exact opposite. I would be very careful in saying that x number of words is always y number of seconds. Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted September 4, 2002 Tom, is an X the same as a Y? No! They're two totally different letters! Way to be stupid, Flesher! Ha ha ha!

Guest 5_moves_of_doom Report post Posted September 5, 2002 Here's a few random/interesting ones I picked out. Tod/TNT blowoff. 32 minutes. Danny/Sydney, 45 Minute Ironman Match. 25 Minutes [most likely due to Danny's usual lack of flowery description, ESPECIALLY back then] ELM's Title Win in the Six-Pack Challenge. 1 Hour and 19 Minutes. HVT/ELM, the Famous One, You Know. 30 Minutes. War Games, Longest Match Ever. 2 Hours and 13 Minutes. WOAH. The actual match was probably an hour though if you subtract excess commentary and whatnot. Edwin/Stevens, Stevens Retires. 46 Minutes. JD/Thugg, Divefire Returns. 37 Minutes. Erek/Strangler, Erek Retires. 50 Minutes. Z/TNT, Final JL Match, Joke Match. 11 Minutes! Wonder how long it would have been if I hadn't done the "Half of the Match Isn't There" Spot, eh?
Guest Ace309 Report post Posted October 26, 2002 Just thought I'd bump this, since I still think it's a handy rule of thumb and I'm using it in my match. Also, for the sake of ease, I've noticed that 1 KB of actual wrestling = ~1 minute of action.
Guest El Luchadore Magnifico Report post Posted October 31, 2002 Well, I was completely bored, so I went over Dissention to see how much actual wrestling time there was. I got 267 minutes. Christ, how do we buy five plus hours of PPV time?
Guest Ace309 Report post Posted October 31, 2002 Christ, how do we buy five plus hours of PPV time? Well... uh... Bemani Cross Wizards and CIA were on the pre-show... and... uh.... *runs away*
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted October 31, 2002 We don't do replays. It's one time and that's it. And this considering that Dissention was looked at as a "small" ppv.
