Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted September 4, 2002 WWE got a dose of reality today when the rating for Raw came out. This week's show scored a 3.6 rating, with a 5.8 share. That number is down from last week's 3.9 (which came after a PPV) and the 4.0 that it did the week before. Even if WWE says that the number was down due to the Labor Day holiday (which I don't necessarily buy since Labor Day is generally a holiday where people are home later in the day and here in the Northeast the weather was horrible, sending vacationers home early), they can't deny the very disturbing message sent in the hourly ratings. As I talked about last week when the ratings came out, WWE expects growth from hour one to hour 2. They hope that the second hour spikes by a point or more. This week, there was no growth at all. In fact, the numbers backslid, with hour one doing a 3.7 and hour two dropping to a 3.6. There is a message in those numbers that WWE would be wise to heed. 1wrestling.com
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted September 4, 2002 Heh... I hope those guys who tuned out weren't RVD fans...
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted September 4, 2002 Gee... HHH all over show again..rating goes down. Why do I think RVD will pay for this?
Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted September 4, 2002 It isn't all RVD's fault. Jericho was in the main event too
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted September 4, 2002 Well...that explains everything. HHH looked good for a change on Monday...but I blame him for viewer tune out. He is the only thing that the show is about...so low ratings are all his fault.
Guest Brian Report post Posted September 4, 2002 Not surprised. Does anyone know why theyweren't running in Canada this weekend, which is generall what they do?

Guest Brian Report post Posted September 4, 2002 Shows. Don't they almost always do that Labor Day weekend, run their shows in Canada? I used to remember going up to Vancouver because the borders were dead and quicker to cross, and the WWE used to have their Canada tours around that time. Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted September 4, 2002 No idea. I didn't know of this trend. They are coming in October though.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted September 4, 2002 well, that's the kind of thing that happens WHEN YOUR COMPANY'S WORLD CHAMPION IS ANNOUNCED TO NOT BE ON THE SHOW. what the fuck were they smoking when they came up with that idea? "oh, we'll have brock be the champion, the man who represents our company, but he'll be exclusive smackdown property! the entire center of our company (the belt, not brock) won't even be on our flagship show! it'll be great, and it's sure to make people care about raw!" and i'm not even going to dignify that whole 'bischoff creates raw belt' with the term 'title'. the term 'pathetic joke' is much more appropriate, and i encourage all of you to use it in your posts. example: "man, triple h will never drop the pathetic joke to rvd, he isn't going to put him over." Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted September 4, 2002 I'll vouch for the reason being the labor day holliday, since I almost didnt get to see RAW because we didnt get back home until like 8:30. Im sure there were plenty of people who didnt get to see RAW because of something there were doing..

Guest Brian Report post Posted September 4, 2002 I'm sure if RVD beat HHH, 90% of the board will bite their tongue on that opinion.
Guest candie45 Report post Posted September 4, 2002 Wait, so you mean to tell me that Raw is HHH and the lingerie match didn't draw in viewers? Blame it on Jericho!

Guest Downhome Report post Posted September 4, 2002 The bullsh*t that was on before the main event surely didn't help things, ya know? I'll leave this thread now, before I go off on yet another rant on the debacle that was the worst segment ever in WWE history, period.

Guest RenegadeX28 Report post Posted September 5, 2002 (Shudders at the fact that ratings never increased at all) WWE needs to like do something drastic, and fast......
Guest Leena Report post Posted September 5, 2002 It's because of the US Open! USA knew what brought in the ratings...... or maybe not. Labor Day did hurt things, because I forgot Raw was on also, until I started recording 10 minutes in. I honestly don't think anyone didn't watch because Brock wasn't going to be on the show. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted September 5, 2002 "I'm sure if RVD beat HHH, 90% of the board will bite their tongue on that opinion. " I wouldn't. There is only one title that I consider to be of importance in the WWE...and Brock is holding it. So now...RVD is even farther away from where he belongs. Guest Ozymandias Report post Posted September 5, 2002 Wonderful news. Anyone who bithes about us "cynical smarks" for taking pleasure in the company failing can lick it. They get what they deserve for putting on such dismal programming. Last week's show was a boring mess (RVD v. Dreamer excepted) so I didn't watch this week's show as a protest of one. And it fucking showed in the ratings. After this week's "HHH is Raw" slap in the face, I'm not watching next week's Raw either. It's okay, they'll learn.... Guest Angle is Wrestling Report post Posted September 5, 2002 Brock is main eventing RAW, it gets 3.9-4.0 They announce Brock is off RAW, and it gets a 3.6 Does this mean Brock = Ratings? ::shoots myself::
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted September 5, 2002 i can undertstand the ratings drop completely. I watched the first 15 minutes and realized the show was shit. i didn't tune in to the main until i heard some guys marking out on the wdi board. it's been mentioned before but it will be unfiortunate that the ratings will be blamed on anyone and anything except for the person who deserves the blame the most... LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2002 Why does everyone want something "drastic" to happen? Drastic things have been happening for a year now. The Split, nWo, Bischoff, and now the RAW title. They need new writers...I guess that could be drastic. Keep Heyman, but drop the rest of the writing team.
