WWE's Definition of Cruiserweights

Recommended Posts

Guest Brian

Has always been guys like Christopher, Taylor, X-Pac, Spike, and Crash. While not all of these guys are shit in the ring, the much more talented guys, even when over, get shoved aside. That's why Hurricane lays down for Crash despite Hurricane actually conforming as much as possible. The cruiserweight division will never get pushed

Well, the way I see it is, Hurricane is already over, his gimmick will always be. Crash on the other hand, has been losing Heat matches for over a year and has just been given some attention. A win over a name like Hurricane is just a good start for his push. Crash needs the win more than Hurricane does. Just be happy the Cruiserweight division roster is growing.

...so the WWE is still putting unskilled cruiserweights over as underdogs and pushing them against heavyweights before they kill their push and credibility, while all the good over talent mingle in the lowercard?

Wow. Captain Obvious has ripped off my eyelids and shined a surgical laser into my eye for 6 months.

I saw my first few TNA matches last night and let me say that the WWE could be the best company in the world. They already have a few high quality talents, but with TNA's top 5 guys, they would add interest in the Cruiserweight division, and the company as a whole.

Styles, Lynn, Low Ki, Daniels, and Skipper all deserve WWE contracts NOW. I had seen all of their squash matches on Jakked, but this stuff blew me away. Its fresh, its new - and that is exactly what the company needs right now.

And they wouldn't get to wrestle it.

All those guys are pretty small, and with the WWE frowning on all the piledriver variants, head-drops, stiff strikes, and actual submission wrestling they use...no way it'd get air-time. Nor would these guys get the 6-8 minutes they need to put together an okay match, or the 20-30 minutes to put together an amazing one. All of these guys wrestle matches that build progressively throughout, and if they got 3-4 minutes a show...they'd become exactly what the rest of the talented midcarders are right now. Entrance, run through 4 or 5 signature spots, finish.

Crash over Hurricane exemplifies WWE logic: someone's not over. Hence, they give him a win against someone who IS over. Steady pushes in the mid-card = nonexistent. The writers utterly lack patience. PICK A DIRECTION AND STICK WITH IT, AIEEEE!

They just consider Crash hot because of the "brand jump". He will not be a major part of the cruiserweight division. I don't see him wrestling on smackdown for longer than a few shows before sticking with Velocity.

Well the WWE has been giving a bit more time for their matches, so I could see them having a good 8 minute match. The 4 way double elimination match, which has been heralded as the best X match, had a pretty entertaining rapid fire elimination in the early minutes. If they are given the chance to do that on Smackdown, and have the awesome series of near falls Lynn/Styles had at the end of that match on PPV - it would be quite good.

Of course this is all dreaming, pretty soon Spike Dudley will be jumping to Smackdown to join the cruiserweight division...sigh

obviously for some odd reason they are trying to push Crash again. Crash was Light heavyweight champ for a cup of coffee before, also Ridiciously multi time Hardcore champ. Someone obviously likes him. Crash is more of a Mat style wrestler with few moments of Aerial moves, Kinda Like Dean Malenko, with less talent. But hell if Crash is getting pushed, maybe Hardcore will go against Brock one day for the World title.

Can someone tell me why Crash deserves a push more than THE FUCKING HURRICANE?!

Come on! Helms has got everything he needs to be a serious fan favorite, and instead he's given no mic time, a tag team push on a show WITHOUT THE TAG TITLES, and now he's jobbing to CRASH HOLLY?!

I hate you, WWE.

As JUST a wrestler, MAYBE...

But The Hurricane has a better, funnier character, better mic skills, a better entrance along with better entrance music, and a gimmick that's impossible not to like.

Crash has a backwards baseball hat.

Sorry, Hurricane has shown much better wrestling skills in both the WCW and WWF than I have ever ever ever ever seen Crash display.

The only reason I said maybe is because the only Helms I've seen is the WWE Helms. I've never seen his WCW stuff.

I saw a little 10-second clip on some website or another. Takes an incredibly blatant setup, if its like that every time, but it's still one hell of a move.

Don't ask me the setup, I just remember it being like a guy falling into the ropes for the 619 - you could see it was coming up a mile away.

Search out both guys indy work. Helms was working with a lot of, at the time, great workers and wasn't getting outclassed. Crash, as Erin O'Grady was a fucking bump machine. Omega and APW, respectively.

ok, unfortunately i have never seen one match with crash that made me want to cheer for him. not one.

i would like to say that because he is small and can fly that he is a good wrestler bu in reality i challenge anyone to name one match where crash has exhibited any kind of star potential. hell, even scotty 2 hotty tore the house down w/ dean malenko.

But Malenko is a near God, he could have done the same with Crash as he did with Scotty. He just needs a good chunk of time, and a semi-intelliegnt opponant

but the point is he didn't. sure, malenko is fucking great but you can't tell me that in his entire tenure in the fed, creash hasn't had an opportuniy to put on a memorable singles match. there has to be at least one, right? i certainly can't think of one...which brings me back to my original statement. crash has never done anything to warrant being on my tv, mush less having a job with the fed.

If Crash had been given a large chunk of time with Malenko, he'd have had one good match - thats my point.

well, as for bdub, sure could could have had one good match w/ malenko but he didn't... at least not to my knowledge.

and referring to the matches you mention brian, not one of those was in the wwf. maybe those matches got him to the big dance but not one thing he has done since has warranted his staying there.

Helmet, I am saying in the context of even Scotty having a good match, crash should have too. I am simply saying if he got the same chance Scotty had, he would have as well. Thats all. I don't care for Crash. I agree he has no place in the company.

Crash Holly vs. Prince Nana - Jakked/Metal earlier this year (The debut of the Double Jump Splash)

Crash Holly vs. Raven from Heat a few weeks back when Raven was working the leg. THE BOY CAN SELL~!

And how can anyone say Crash's entrance is not as good as Hurricane's? Everything from his serious, pissed-off stride down the ramp to his unique entrance into the ring (climbing into the ring using the turnbuckle, not just entering like on Monday) is unique and hilarious. His signature moves like the double jump splash (he climbs the turnbuckle, jumps off, lands on his feet, and then splashes his opponent) is simply breath-taking.

That's not all, can anybody forget his appearance on Heat a few weeks back when he ran down to the ring and cut a promo on D'Lo Brown about how he has been holding him down for 15 years?

Crash was the only reason why I tuned into Heat. He makes guys look good, and he possesses a unique charisma.

Crash could take Hardcore with him to the unemployment line, for all I care. There are guys I'd rather see get airtime than Crash Holly.

I don't overly mind Crash Holly, but there are certainly people i'd rather be seeing get air time than him. Crash may be capable of good matches, but until i see him producing them i'll continue to not care much about him.

First off, I'm back!!!! Screw you AOHELL!!!!

I've never seen any of Crash's work outside of the WWE, nor do I care to.

Shane Helms on the other hand. Even when he looked Green he was still pretty damn good. As much as I hate the Hurricane gimmick (The choke slam is funny as Hell, though) I'd much rather see him get a real push.

Crash can go to Hell for all I care. Send him down with Al Snow and get back Hugh on TV.

IMO, Crash single handly killed the Hardcore Division with the comedy crap! Cruiserweights are already a joke in the WWE. We don't need more comedy in that division.

Vic Grimes vs. Erin O Grady - APW (7/18/97)

This match is going to give me nightmares, and I've never even seen it.

They might as well have made the main event "Puppy vs. Semi" -APW 7/18/97

I can't really say I've ever seen a really good Crash Holly match outside of The Hollys/Too Cool vs. Hardyz/Edge & Christian Survivor Series match from a few years ago. And let's just say Crash wasn't the highlighted portion of the match.

Anyway, Crash is very vanilla and doesn't really bring anything interesting to the table. He basically bumps around and doesn't have any good offensive moves. Quit frankly, the double jump splash sounds just about as stupid a move as I've ever heard of.

this may make me sound like the biggest mark ever, but i don't care, i just have to say i like crash holly, i think he has wrestling skills and charisma the same goes for scotty (who is btw my dads favorite wrestler) there are people who are more deserving of a push but i'd take crash holly a million times over the smackdown hosses (albert, mark henry) which are the people who are next in line for a push, i think
