Argentina beats the USA in Basketball 87-80

That's better than losing to Angolla in front of an empty Conseco Fieldhouse.

Fucking pathetic.

I mean, it's not like it's a disgrace to the sport of US Basketball. They have won all of the Gold Medals so far...

But with that amount of talent, you should never lose a game, especially to a team like Argentina that lacks any good NBA players.

Well, I was expecting the US to lose someday since the rest of the world seems to be producing good players. I just thought it be a team from Europe though. Oh well.

How the hell did the US lose to Argentina? I don't think Argentina had any pro players. Did Giant Gonzalez play for them?

I'm sure they are rioting in Argentina as we speak!

Pretty much... I speak to my cousins that live there. It's pretty bad.

Well, no kidding. If someone swats a mosquito in Argentina, they riot.

Also, treble, you forget that all Canada had for this one was a bunch of no-namers. With Nash, MacCulloch and Magloire in the lineup, it would've turned out much better than that.

Larry Bird is roling around in his grave right now....wait, he's not dead.

It was bound to happen someday.

I just can't see how they lost to Argentina. Argentina was a team of NBA rejects. It's a huge embarassment to lose like that, and these guys will be noted for it through history.

Also, Pepe Sanchez (PG for Argentina team, and formerly Temple) was signed by Detroit today. Quality NBA scouting.

Too funny. I kind of figured they would lose sometime soon as they seemed to have massive problems putting away teams like Germany. I am shocked it was Argentina though. Apparently, they have some rookie on the San Antonio Spurs who plays for them. Otherwise, the team was NBA rejects. It is nice to hear that Argentina might be known for something else in sports besides having a great soccer team.

My unadulterated hatred for the NBA allows me to actually be happy about this.

Hell, you can say that any time and it'd be a factual statement.

Oh well, life goes on...

I saw David Aldridge after the game say he wasn't suprised Argentina won. What a bunch of b.s. this was possibility the biggest upset in International competition. What is wrong with saying this was a huge shock.

It would have been a bigger shock if it was in the medal round. As it is, the US can still win the gold...they just have a tougher road to do it..

I have to say..GOOD.

That's for all the times the bastards at UPN preempted Smackdown for Houston Rockets games. I don't hate basketball, but it's too oversaturated everywhere.

ESPN "experts" said Argentina has 4 players who should be playing in the NBA next season.....personally, I don't care that they lost. Sure, they lose the unbeaten streak, but when it comes down to the gold, I am sure USA is still taking it. Also, we don't even have the NBA's BEST over there playing.

Fine, we'll just beat everyone else, then win anyway.

Didn't the US beat Argentina in the World Cup?

Anyways, it was gonna happen at some point. If not now, then maybe in 2 years at the Olympics. They lost, they'll get over it.

No. Argentina was in with England, Nigeria & Sweden, and didn't make it out of the first round.
