Guest dreamer420 Posted September 6, 2002 Report Posted September 6, 2002 While I prefer TSN's SportsCentre over SportsNet's SportsCentral, I have to say that Mike Toth has improved so much since his days on TSN. I have never really been a Mike Toth fan myself. I like the combo of Dutch and Duthie on TSN.
Guest treble charged Posted September 6, 2002 Report Posted September 6, 2002 Well yeah, Toth ranks below a lot of the TSN anchors in my books, he is still a whole heckuva lot better than he was in his early days on TSN. And yes, James Duthie is one of my favourites as well. Blake Price is also very good.
Guest dreamer420 Posted September 6, 2002 Report Posted September 6, 2002 I miss watching Jim Van Horne everyday myself. He was the greatest.
Guest alkeiper Posted September 6, 2002 Report Posted September 6, 2002 I think ESPN's reasoning behind the NFL countdown clock is that they figured no one would really miss the scores of, say, an Indians/ Tigers game or Padres/Rockies game....and they'd be right. Perhaps, but when you're watching a program specifically designed to relate baseball scores, its really annoying. Like, for example, every year during the Australian Open which is on in the early morning, the bottom line is constantly on, even during the final. I find it very annoying, and it takes away from the current action. Agreed. Watching any sporting event with the bottom line constantly on ets really tiresome, especially after you've been watching the same scroll for two hours. Unless it's on a particular show like Baseball Tonight, or NFL2Night, the bottom line should only have the scores. All the Stats aren't necessary. In a cynical way, I think ESPN shows the stats to force you to stay tuned to the channel longer.

Worst is when there about to show a score you wanna see and have a commerical, and when they come back there back at the beginning.
