Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted September 5, 2002 Here's another hypothetical situation thing for you all. If you play a musical instrument, guitar, bass, drums, flute, whatever, and you wanted to form a band, AND had free reign to pick any musicians you wanted to be in it, who would it be, and what kind of stuff would you play? If you don't play any instruments, just pretend you're their manager or something. Also, try to use criteria other than trying to make the most money possible, or picking someone like Avril Lavigne just because you think she's hot or whatever. My band: Flo Mounier (from Cryptopsy)-Drums Me-Bass Kerry King (from Slayer)-Geetar Trey Azagthoth (from Morbid Angel)-Other Geetar Matt McClelland (from Corpsevomit)-Vocals if something possessed me to make a band that wasn't metal, I'd use: Neal Peart-Drums Me-bass Frank Zappa-Vocals and guitar. Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted September 6, 2002 But when compared to freddy mercury who could sing in any style and has the entire range of sound in his vocals, it's a no-brainer. freddy mercury is the best male vocalist EVER!

Guest Mad the Swine Report post Posted September 7, 2002 But when compared to freddy mercury who could sing in any style and has the entire range of sound in his vocals, it's a no-brainer. freddy mercury is the best male vocalist EVER! I'd let them share lead vocals; I'm not crazy. But I think Wilson was a better singer than Mercury. Mercury had great range, but Wilson's was phenomenal. Wilson couldn't have fired off rapid classics like March of the Black Queen, but Mercury couldn't have made you cry during Caroline No. The only song that both covered was I Can Hear Music. Mercury covered it as Larry Lurex in 1973. While Mercury isn't singing as well as he could and he's trying to sound different, it's clearly not his type of song (the Beach Boys' version was actually sung by Carl Wilson on lead). Plus, I think Wilson could harmonize a little better, noting how most of Mercury's harmonies were with himself. Though he could do harmonize with May and Taylor (Somebody to Love), Wilson had to carry Mike Love. In the original write-up, I forgot to note that Wilson would be the main producer. Now, that was his specialty.

Guest Dames Edna Report post Posted September 7, 2002 Sorry, "alternative". I think your guys opinion of metal is different from mind. Grohl is an awesome metal drummer ie. QOTSA If I said heavy metal, or death metal you could call me out. Hendrix may not have been metal, Flea could easily have been metal - he did play with Jane's Addiction who have been known to be a metal band. And In Utero shows Cobain could have easily been in a metal band
