Guest Youth N Asia Posted September 6, 2002 Report Posted September 6, 2002 From espn.com Lennox Lewis will give up one of his heavyweight titles rather than fight mandatory contender Chris Byrd, claiming that Byrd offers him no great challenge and that no one wants to see the fight anyway. Lewis' decision to give up the IBF version of the title means the heavyweight championship will likely be further fractured, though the public generally recognizes him as the legitimate champion. No challenge??? Byrd is the only tough guy he's not gone up against yet...it's not like the bastard just came off a fight, he's been on the shelf for a while now not doing anything. He's fought a few guys in the past couple years not as good as Byrd...but he won't fight Byrd and says he's "no challenge"...think there might be more to this He's ducking Flint, Michigan violence...friggin chicken
Guest Mad Dog Posted September 6, 2002 Report Posted September 6, 2002 What an ass. Ever hear of doing the right thing for boxing by not letting the Heavyweight title get split. Geez what a pussy.
Guest Some Guy Posted September 6, 2002 Report Posted September 6, 2002 He should fight the guy. Just giving up a title will further kill the already ailing sport of Boxing.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 6, 2002 Report Posted September 6, 2002 I agree with him in the respect that no one wants to see a Lewis/Byrd fight, hell, no one wants to see a Byrd fight, period. He's one of the most boring guys to watch anymore. hit and run tactics, fighting like a chickenshit, I can't stand him. Lewis would beat his brains in anyway. there just isn't any good challengers in the heavyweight division anymore. De La Hoya/Vargas is coming up soon though, and it should be awesome.

Guest Leena Posted September 9, 2002 Report Posted September 9, 2002 People still take the Heavyweight division seriously, wow.
