"Possessed" kid gets shot

Recommended Posts

Guest LooseCannon

I wouldn't have shot him, but the police were certainly justified in doing so.

the choir director's wife could have asked him for the gun instead of snitching on him, the police could have at least shot him in the leg... goddammit, there are few enough demonically possessed 14-year old's around as it is.

People's stupidity never ceases to amaze me. I mean if you point a gun at an officer your going to get shot. I don't care who you are. When their life's on the line they don't take any chances.

"Snitching" on him?! When some kid's claiming he's possessed by demons and carrying a gun, civilians shouldn't approach him, for crying out loud, and they sure as hell shouldn't try to disarm him. That's the height of stupidity.

And when an officer's life is in danger you shoot to kill.

Couldn't police officers be versed in firearms enough to tell that it was a BB gun? The mother says she told them that it was one, so why would they fire at him? Also, since he's only 14, wouldn't they try to disable him in a more humane manner, like in the leg?

The reason is called "unacceptable risk."

I don't care how old you are, if you threaten a police officer in any way, you should fully expect to be met with deadly force. So Montoya's psychodrama had a surprise ending. Cry me a river.

I don't think they should've called the police either, cuz the boy obviously had issues. If he came in threatening them, maybe, but I dunno about this.

Loosecannon,

I was actually referring to the mother being pissed that they shot his son after he pulled a gun on them.

"Police had been called earlier by Montoya's mother, who told them she and her 3-year-old child had fled their home after Montoya pointed a BB gun at her and threatened her, Arbogast said.

Officers went to the home, where neighbors told them Montoya had entered their homes, threatened them with a gun, and left."

Yeah, he "had issues." And when you have "issues" like that, you end up dead, because you're a threat to law-abiding people.

Goodness gracious, what a shame...

I understand where you're coming from, but firstly, they didn't know about the prior incident, and secondly for all we know, he could've genuinely come to the church for help. If he had given any indication that he was gonna harm them, then I could see her calling the police. The article suggests that they just saw the gun, and sneakingly called the police, and if this is the case, they not only betrayed the boy's confidence, but they're also partially responsible for his death. I'm not taking any of the blame off of the boy, because if you go around pointing a gun at enough people, sooner or later somebody's gonna point one back, but still, calling the cops seems a bit sneaky to me.

If "sneaky" meant "sensible citizens who, fearing for their lives and the lives of their parishioners when confronted with a lunatic carrying a gun, contacted the authorities, thus following a prudent and proper course of action," you might be correct.

they're also partially responsible for his death
No one is responsible for the death of Dominic Montoya but Dominic Montoya himself.

If this kid were possessed by demons, don't you think the demons possessing him would've been smart enough to not let him TELL everybody that he was possessed by demons?

I always thought when you were possessed, they had control over you. If that's the case, these were some stupid fucking demons.

Well, maybe their fears were justified and maybe not. It all really depends on what their definition of "troubled" is. If he was genuinely in there for prayer, then yes they were partially responsible, because in that state of mind, all that calling the police on him would do is send him into a panic, which is exactly what happened, and which is why the boy is dead today. I'm not gonna come down on them too hard, because this is a second hand report and I don't know all the details, but I think they should've made more of an attempt to reason with him instead of just running to the cops.

Quite frankly, being threatened with a gun is bad enough. I don't care if it is a BB gun, those can kill, too. Ever think about how thin your skull is at the temple?

If this maniac had entered other people's homes and threatened them, if he had threatened people with a weapon, that's enough reason to call the police. If I pulled a knife on someone for no reason, or a billy club, a blackjack, whatever, that's enough to call the police for threatening injury/death against you. Of course, that's provided you don't shoot him first.

Fo sheez,

Police are taught to aim for the widest target on the human body.
