Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted September 7, 2002 well now who would've predicted THAT? Even though I'm not happy, at least CBS can be. Four Americans in the finals, one of them illegitimately, and we've seen them all more than one time too many. Hopefully by the time the Australian rolls around, we don't get treated to this crap. Sampras is balding and he wears ugly shirts, he should not be in any more finals. I hope Agassi wins, retires, and starts training his kid at age 1 or whatever to be some crazy ultra-mega-prodigy that wins a Grand Slam at age 14 or something. Now that would be cool. So my prediction as we end the fortnight is Agassi to win it all. I won't bother with the women's as it's like rooting for WWF or the Alliance in the Invasion: it's fake, and everything is going to the same one guy anyway. Guest Flyboy Report post Posted September 7, 2002 People... WATCH tennis?!?! It's a mystery to me too, MrRant.
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted September 7, 2002 Plenty of people watch tennis. I do because it's a good balance between watching football and wrestling to watch something not as loud and grating.
Guest TheArchiteck Report post Posted September 7, 2002 Yeah, I've been really into tennis lately. Of course the William's domination have led me to begin viewing. Man, Sampres is balding. Getting worst everyday it looks. I wanted Rodick to make it to the finals, but oh well. Go Serena!!
Guest Narcoleptic Jumper Report post Posted September 7, 2002 Maybe I'm reading wrong (I hope), but did you just say that Tennis is fake? And which one is in the finals illegitimately?
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted September 7, 2002 It's fake when it's Venus versus Serena, their dad pretty much keeps one from looking better than the other as best he can. I think Roddick going far would be good for the sport, but his game is pretty much all just fast serves. I hope Paradorn Srichaphan goes far in the next few years, the crowd actually gets really behind the Thai guy, but that might jsut be because everyone hates Rusedski. Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Okay, that doesn't make any sense, but whatever. Oh by the way to answer your other question, Venus Williams didn't exactly get a clean victory.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Did Venus Williams grow a mullet and CHEAT TO WIN!~
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted September 8, 2002 I think I saw a line judge with a mullet
Guest BigPoppaKev Report post Posted September 8, 2002 I am more interested in watching Serena/Venus than Aggasi/Sampras. I think women's tennis is a better product overall than men's tennis. And Serena is already kicking Venus' ass.
Guest Leena Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Rematch of the '90 and '95 final, and I have both on tape. Ugh, that makes me feel old. Even though Andre is playing great, I pick Pete to win, because Pete owns him at the Open. Agassi & Sampras are getting a little boring at the top of US tennis, but when they're gone it will be all Andy Rod"dick" which will probably be much worse. Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted September 8, 2002 I'm seriously believing Serena & Venus throw the matches they have in the US, Austraillian, Wimbeldon whatever tournaments. Go Agassi btw! Anyone catch what the hell Serena has been wearing? that's not even Tennis attire. Stupid crackwhore.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted September 8, 2002 I don't watch tennis, but I've seen what she's been wearing and you're complaining? .... Right.

Gambill is okay I guess. I think Lleyton is going to be on top for a while, Kuerten, Haas, and Malisse will be more successful as well I think/hope. Safin is a choker like Henman. I'd like to see Mark Phillippoussis score a Grand Slam before his knees are totally gone. I was jsut thinking of last year's Wimbledon, and does anybody know if Patrick Rafter and Goran Ivanisevic are going to be playing again any time soon, or are they done? Guest kelloggs Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Holy what the...people talking about tennis... Agassi/Sampras is going to be great... I actually got to hit with Sampras once, he's really a class act but he can't play basketball at all. Either guy winning is great in my book. And American tennis wise after they're done Roddick, Gambill and Blake are money. Davis Cup did A LOT for them all especially Blake... he just chokes again Hewitt. And to answer you question... I don't know... Rafter might pull it together for a Wimbeldon comeback and Goran... well it depends if he's feeling sane. PS don't hate on Serena or her catsuit, they don't throw matches and it's not like there at the all england club. It's NY and you're probably just mad that Anna lost first round again. You got to hit with Pete? Jealous.. I have talked with him though, and he is genuine and really nice. Roddick is the only player who is guaranteed to be great out of that bunch. I know Andy's young still, but he comes off as an immature, spoiled punk and isn't liked by some players already. Roddick still has a lot to learn if he's going to win majors, as evidenced by his match with Pete, and Hewitt last year. Gambill hasn't proven he can be any more than top 20, when he's been healthy. It's beyond me why any guy would use a 2-handed forehand. Blake has improved rapidly, but he still has a lot to prove. I do think Blake will be top 10 by next year. Rafter may be back if he wants, but I think Goran's career is over. If Goran's shoulder still bothers him at all, he's got no chance. Goran's supposedly very happy with his personal life too. The Williams' did throw a match. What happened in Indian Wells last year? Don't give me any BS that Venus was injured for that match. That was a total joke. I don't think they have fixed their other matches, but it's very noticeable that (at least before 2002) they didn't play their hardest against each other, and I can understand why people would question it. Where did anyone say they were pissed Anna lost 1st round? That's not a good last line to make your post mean anythingl

Where did anyone say they were pissed Anna lost 1st round? Alina, you seem to know your tennis. I'm almost 100% in agreement with you here. I'm upset that Agassi lost. Sampras is just unreal when he wants to be, and I guess he just thought he had to do or die in this match and boy, did he deliver! 110 mph second serve? Agassi is the greatest returner ever but he was just overpowered. And even though I think he had his chances on the fourth set (that 12 minute fifth game was unreal) he just wasn't the same as with Hewitt, who he dismanteled completely. But if there was a fifth set, I think Agassi would have taken it. On the other hand, I'm happy for Sampras, who everyone pretty much thought was a has-been. Now hes back in the Masters Tournament in December, and hopefully Agassi can make it there too and have his revenge. And about Anna, the only thing I'm upset about is her going out with that awful quasi-singer Enrique Iglesias.
Guest kelloggs Report post Posted September 10, 2002 I must agree with your post. Meh, okay I'll give you Indian Wells... that was yeah...I got no real comment about it... and I'm glad you agree that they are playing competitively now. Roddick reminds me of Johnny Mac so much and that's what I like about him. And I understand your opinion on Gambill but a lot of top level juniors use a two hander on both sides. Blake has a legit shot at a major, less then Roddick of course but in two or three years he'll be right there with Hewitt, Roddick, Ferarro(sp?), Guga on clay, and Hass if his arm trouble goes away. Throw a Safin, Magnus Norman(what the hell happened to him) or even Max Mirny(sp?) who's more of a doubles player and you got the new guard. I'm sure I forgot some people but whatever. And I was pulling for Agassi in that fourth set just to see a fifth. Pete is world class and really proved that he still has it. And finally when I went to the open a couple of people I know brought it up as a joke. Everybody that hated Serena's catsuit wished Anna hadn't lost first round. And she's not even the going to be the top beauty on the tour anymore... there's this young Russian girl in Florida(sounds similar) whose got all the tools but actually wants to produce on the court.
