Guest Grenouille Report post Posted September 8, 2002 I'll vote for the PS2 since I've already invested lots of money into with games, accessories, and a Japanese PS2. I'll probably pick up a NGC when it drops a little lower.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Ummm... PC? Yeah.
Guest KoR Fungus Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Someone should just pin one of these. This is like the fifth one this year. PS2...
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted September 8, 2002 PS2>Xbox>Gamecube. I don't think PC or GBA should be compared to the others as they serve totally different purposes.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Heres how this works PS2 is an excellent choice for people who had the PS and have a bunch of PS games. Its also good if you like to have a ton of games available with a lot of variety in just about every game genre. The PS2 has a ton of exclusive games as well. X Box is for people who love to have the most powerful of everything. They probably have the online market covered with X Box Live, so if you have broadband I'd say X Box over the other 2 consoles. There aren't many great games, but there are a lot of good/average games. The X Box DVD is probably better than the PS2 so if you want a DVD player, for X Box. Gamecube is for people who don't want to spend a lot of money on a console or the video game habit. The console is the cheapest right now There aren't a ton of games available compared to the other consoles, but I'd say that there are more must have games for the Cube than say the X Box, although the PS2 has more just because its been out longer and the PS library. Fans of certain genres need not apply (Racing, Fighting and RPG) but Sports gamers (especially soccer for some reason) will have a ball (no pun intended) You also can be asured of top notch franchise games (Mario/Zelda/StarFox/Eternal Darkness/Resident Evil..) for the Cube. Its all about your particular tastes. I just happen to like the Gamecube more, mainly because of the quality of quantity aspect and the reputation that Nintendo has for putting out solid games year in and year out. Guest Big McLargeHuge Report post Posted September 8, 2002 All three major consoles. And throw in the GBA as well.
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted September 8, 2002 I think Marvin's post pretty much summed it up. Each console has it's own area that it rules. Didn't Marvin used to be(or still is?) some huge pro-Nintendo Anti-Xbox guy?
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Yes, I used to be the anti X Box, Pro Gamecube pimp of these boards. I've pretty much cooled down to where I still favor the Cube, but the X Box hate really isn't there like it was 12 months ago. I'm of the opinion that the X Box is clearly the #3 console right now, and while it hasn't killed console gaming, the fact that they need to keep cutting prices and continue to lose 200 bucks a console just to keep competitive is proof enough to me that the Cube is better than the X Box. I will also say that the PS2 will probably remain #1, as it has the biggest library of games and has a variety of different titles to suit just about anyone. But like I said, I would rather have a few must have superior games than a truckload of good/average games since Im not gonna be able to buy a truckload of games, nor will I have time to play a truckload of games.. Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted September 8, 2002 I think I understand what you're saying. You'd rather go with the Cube where they have the big name franchise titles that you know will be good than have to go check out quite a few games to see which ones you'll like on the PS2 and Xbox. I myself prefer the Xbox over the Cube because I think they have a better variety of games that I personally will like, but I have been let down by a few of them while I haven't been let down by Gamecube games because I've stuck with what I already know. Another plus for the Xbox is that if there's a game that's out on all 3 consoles the Xbox version is almost always the best. I happen to think that by the time all three consoles are done the Xbox and Gamecube will both have more truly great titles than the PS2 will, but right now PS2 is where to go for the biggest list of top titles. It's good to own all three consoles if you have the cash.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted September 8, 2002 My cousin, who just turned 16, spent all of his summer earnings and bought an X Box and Gamecube, so he has all 3 consoles (hes had the PS2 since the Christmas it came out), but forgot about games for the Cube/X Box, so he only has like 1 game for each, but he rents games a lot. Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted September 8, 2002 I still have a Nintendo 64 & Sega Genesis 1. No desire to spend another 150 to 200 dollars. I wish they still made N64 games though...
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Well, Tony Hawk 3 just came out for N64 a couple weeks ago if you want that.
Guest MrRant Report post Posted September 8, 2002 I say the Gameboy Advance rules all with the amount of quality titles even if 50% are retreads.
Guest xerogame Report post Posted September 8, 2002 ...im anti xbox..but pro ps2...i think, well, ps2 has it all for now. xbox might be more powerful in graphics, but when it comes down to it, its all about the game. Ps2 has many hits already established and many more to come..most awaited (im lookin foward to Shinobi, Mortal Kombat:DA, Tekken4, and [of corse]Smackdown: SYM) are the online games...which i probally wont play cuz my connection is a ho
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted September 8, 2002 I say PS2. X-box and 'Cube just don't have many titles or franchises that interest me.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted September 8, 2002 The vote breakdown right now is interesting.. 6 PS2 5 X Box and Gamecube 2 PC 0 GBA As for Cube Franchises, I'll take (Zelda, Star Fox, Mario and Resident Evil) any day of the week..If you're a true gamer and you don't enjoy one of those series, its sad.. Guest chirs3 Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Note I said not many... I didn't say none... Mario and Metroid interest me. Zelda's hit and miss. But I only have 1 TV, which means I'd have to rehook up systems when I wanted to play one. And when I weigh franchises out... GC: Mario, Metroid XBox: None PS2: Silent Hill, Final Fantasy, Midway Sports (Hitz, Blitz, Slugfest), GTA, Chrono Series The PS2 seems like the best investment. Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Franchise games usually don't impress me as much as good originals do. However, Halo is an exception.
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted September 8, 2002 PS2: *Silent Hill*, Final Fantasy, *Midway Sports (Hitz, Blitz, Slugfest)*, GTA, Chrono Series The PS2 seems like the best investment. Why would you count Silent Hill and Midway Sports as PS2 franchises? The Midway games are on all 3 consoles and Silent Hill is on Xbox too.
Guest xerogame Report post Posted September 8, 2002 your forgetting Grand Turismo..Twisted Metal...Metal Gear Solid...among others that are cult classics like onimusha (yes, i kno, theres a xbox onimusha) 1 and

Guest treble charged Report post Posted September 8, 2002 No war will ever match the one that took place between the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo. BEST. CONSOLE WAR. EVER. However, of all these, I'll have to say PC, since I haven't played enough of any of the newer systems to gauge an opinion on which one is the best.
Guest KoR Fungus Report post Posted September 8, 2002 <<<No war will ever match the one that took place between the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo. BEST. CONSOLE WAR. EVER.>>> Yeah, because it was the only one that was ever even close. This generation's is really boring because it was over before NGC and X-Box even came out. I kind of mark out for Saturn/PSX/N64 though, because of those awesome fly plaything fly commercials, but once Saturn died, that one got boring too.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Well, Tony Hawk 3 just came out for N64 a couple weeks ago if you want that I was hoping for some new wrestling video games. The best ones were on N64, IMO, I have every THQ game, as they are the greatest wrestling video games todaay. The Tony Hawk franchise kind of bores me. I had the first one, loved it, had the second one, liked it, played the third, and hated it. So, it's kind of runs it's course.
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Why would you count Silent Hill and Midway Sports as PS2 franchises? The Midway games are on all 3 consoles and Silent Hill is on Xbox too. Silent Hill 2 was ported over to X-Box. They don't have SH1, and SH3 might not make the conversion when it comes out. So at the moment, it's not an X-Box franchise. And Midway... I didn't know they were on every system. Oopsy.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted September 8, 2002 bleedthesky, i must strongly disagree with you about the tony hawk series. when it first appeared, #1 was one of the greatest games i had played to that point. #2, imo, outshined #1 in every aspect incl. level design, extra options, moves and control. #3 was not quite the sequel i had hoped for but was not a game i was disappointed in. plus, it has darth maul AND wolverine. as for the systems, i went with the ps2. final fantasy series, gta3, the recently released SOCOM, metal gear 2, virtual fighter 4, etc... i think the gamecube console has a lot to offer for nintendo fans (which i am) but not enough to keep me coming back. as for the x-box, besides halo, there has not been another game that has made me even remotely interested in purchasing this one. thanks, but no thanks. Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted September 9, 2002 I only have the PS2. I have thought about buying the other two, but I was largely skeptical because the first games out for PS2 seem to largely sucked(except for Madden). I may buy the other two someday, though I am currently rather bored with video games lately. I am just glad that Koei has released some games on PS2. I missed Koei games, so it is nice to see that they are making a comeback.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted September 9, 2002 I have all three. Xbox has the best online plan, but PS2 has all the games. Cube isn't bad, but I don't really care about all those sequels to the Usual Nintendo Gang. Except maybe Kirby, since I played one of his Game Boy games ages ago and liked it. I spend equal time on all three, but with WarCraft III out now and so many interesting MMORPGs coming soon, the PC is kind of in a league of it's own here. Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted September 9, 2002 Goodhelmet, part of the problem for me was all the "special characters". I did thoroughly enjoy the create a park mode. So many wasted nights... THPS3 was a pretty big letdown for me. Don't know why, I mean, BAM~! was in it, but I was glad I didn't own it. Not-to-mention I almost had a seizure playing the Japan level.
