Why is WWE Hyping The Gay Wedding Angle So Much?

I guess it's because of the hazing rumours Bill Silverman spread out into the community...

I get the feeling this is another of those angles Vince has booked to amuse himself and jusat because he finds it funny he assumes we will too

Was the idea/buildup of the Test/Stephanie marriage entertaining? Hell no, but the actual wedding was the benefit of the angle, turning Trips into the monster heel he wasn't until then.

Was the idea/buildup of the Stephanie/HHH renewal of vows entertaining? Fuck no, but the actual wedding was the benefit of the angle, turning Trips into a top face against a scorned Vince and Stephanie.

This "commitment" ceremony MUST have a entertaining/benefitting NON-WEDDING swerve ending to it, or else it'll be a waste of a young wrestler's career, a waste of TV time and a waste of money for cocktail napkins.

When Chuck proposed, I was hoping Billy was going to say 'Wait a minute, we're not gay', followed by Chuck saying 'We arent?'

I'm waiting for the breakup, and the subsequent fight over who gets "custody" of Rico.

Why does everyone say Bradshaw is gay??

Bradshaw is said to have threatened several WCW guys/referees with anal rape during hazing....

I'm gonna assume you mean WWE... ;)

As far as the hype goes, this will no doubt lead to some swerve of sorts, possibly leading to the breakup of ChuckaBilly, most likely involving Rico's betrayal of one of them. This thing has almost zero wrestling value, and unless this leads to some sort of feud involving either the principles, or some newcomer(s), it's already dead in the water.

I won't even go into the possible ramifications of said angle as far as gay activist groups go, not to mention the backlash of the predominantly heterosexual (and belligerantly so, no doubt) young male demographic. Not that I care about either group personally... I just want this to lead to some sort of wrestling payoff, eh?

GLADD seems to support this and I seriously doubt it will hurt it's heterosexual teen male base as long as they still provide T&A.

The only question here is...What side is WWE on? Are they supporting Gay Rights or will this wind up a Gay Bashing angle?

It could really put WWE on the map for social responsibilty but if they used any sort of gimmicky attitude...WWE takes a step back...

Showtime, a cable formerly known for Late night softcore porn and Action filled thrillers...broke ground and gained it's first legit respect from Media and Hollywood with Queer as Folk...I'm not saying this will change the landscape of Wrestling but it could be a landmark moment.

However, I'm hearing alot about Jesse Ventura showing up and doing something...Maybe

Chuck and Billy are about to say I do but Dvon interupts and does a Jesus Hates Fags rotuine and condemns the wedding but Ventura hops out and shuts him down and allows the wedding under his power to go down...Which gives him a credible story to leave the office with.

See, there's a problem with this: it's a good idea. I seem to have little doubt in my mind that they'll do something incredibly ignorant and ruin things for everyone.

The only person who called it a marriage was Michael Cole, so take that with a grain of salt.

Here's my question...Will they take out a full page ad in the USA Today the day after 9/11 to promote The same sex wedding like they did Steph and Test?
