that was the point, though...they punched and kicked eachother for a minute or two, and then they beat the ever loving shit out of the poor bastard who was #3...who it was, I cant remember.

Actually Andre the Giant was #3. It wound up being Andre vs. everybody...Demolition, Hennig, Valentine, Roberts, Garvin for the first 10 minutes or so. He took them all on and tossed three of them (Smash, Garvin & Roberts) before Roberts came back with his snake to chase Andre over the top in cheap fashion.

I'm surprised no one said the famous drop kick. You know when a wrestler connects and lands on the mat he doesn't get hurt. However, if he doesn't connect he is writhing in pain on the mat. That was strange even as a young mark.

Another thing was the good guy-bad guy thing. I remember before I actually started watchin I just assumed the good guys always won. I don't even know where this concept came from in my mind, but when I started to watch I just saw guys I would cheer for and boo for. Yeah, the house show thing was weird. Seeing Hogan lose by c/o or something and yet the wwf saying he was undefeated. I always thought any loss was a loss.

What confused me was:

1) In Royal Rumbles guys would literally hang on to the ropes with one arm around the top rope and one leg around it too and yet 2 or 3 wrestlers couldnt just push him over.

2) Same Rumbles that when the wrestler is close to being pushed over, some other wrestler would come and break it up.  Wouldn't it benefit the guy to toss both over?

3) Masked wrestler almost has his mask taken off by opponent but is able to withstand punishment, fend him off, and then wrestle with the mask untied and not worrry about it for the rest of the match.

4)Both wrestlers on the mat and the ref is counting and amazingly both get up at the count of 9.

5)Finally, regular match if a wrestler gets a chair shot, hit with a belt, foreign object he is out cold, but in a steel cage/hell in a cell match they take the same type of shots but bounce back!!!

two things:

WWF style cage matches.

By this I mean the rules where you have to escape, not the NWA (sometimes WWF) style of pinflass and submissions count in the cage no escape rules. Even as a kid I couldnt understand why you would win a match for running away. it made the faces look like cowards. the fact that the WWF still has these types of matches is just plain stupid.

second was the referees' stupidity.

Obviously when i got older i understood why the did it but when they would always miss everyhting the heels did it was maddeninf for a lil' mark. their hearing was always suspect too in the way that they wouldnt hear a run in wrestler piledrive somebody or something along those lines.

A sleeper could make someone pass out easily!  Ever been put in one or put someone in one?  It's a really good real life move.

Yeah, I remember hearing that someone actually taught people in the service the sleeper to use in hand to hand combat.  This was like WW II era.  I've been put in a sleeper and I did feel kinda woozy even thought it wasn't put on that great.

I remember my dad told my sister never give me a sleeper hold because it's dangerous and it could really put you to sleep.

Thanks.

It's really funny, because the Poor Smuck who drew #3 was Andre The Giant...

They knocked him down, then got smoked...

####, they had Perfect and Ronnie Garvin too, and the 4 or them we're having a hard time taking him out

I was helping to coach the junior high wrestlers during my senior year and one day when the bus to their meet was late, I was working technique with them to keep them from getting in trouble. One of them got goofy and threw a sleeper hold on another, and before we knew it, the kid had passed out and cracked his head against a wall.

Luckily, they didn't file a lawsuit.

If I ever made someone falls asleep by doing a sleeper hold I would do anything to wake them up right away to make sure they weren't dead.

Thanks.

John Tenta's finisher, when I was a kid, I thought how could a man nearly kill so many wrestlers and not be put in jail.  Tenta's matches would end after he pins them and delivers aftershocks, that would make WWF officials bring out the emergency crews to help out the wrestler, nobody was actually hurt, but it was all part of the storyline.

Tenta's finisher looked pretty stiff sometimes but I don't remember anyone actually getting hurt from it.

I always wondered if i could just get in the ring and kick someones behind! I mean i was watching WWF on tv one day and i saw Dino Bravo telling someone to come into the ring from the crowd and sit on his back so he can do a pushup. I was shocked to see that this bum came into the WWF and got a shot at hogan later on down the line. So when the wwf came to my town about a year later, i was searching around the arena for big fat guys that might actually get a shot in the ring! How dumb was I???????

Not very dumb.  I remember going to see the WWF back in 90 or sometime around then.  When we got to the arena I was looking for wrestlers sitting in the crowd to, because I thought that for a wrestler to make a run in, they would have to be sitting in the crowd all ready.

The whole irish whip into the corner BACKFIRST has always made me wonder too, but otehr than the Steamer, I've also seen Bret Hart and X-Pac sell it face first as well...

As far as the WMX cointoss thing... If Luger lost, he'd have to face Crush first... Then, regardless of the outcome, he'd get the winner of Bret-Yoko... Bret wasn't scheduled to have his WM match against Owen yet...I *believe* this is how it worked...

Something that's always bugged me is why wrestlers were supposed to be hurt from having their heads rammed into the turnbuckle pads when it was made really clear by George Steele that they were made of nice, soft foam rubber!

Hmm.

That's all--

Back in 1993, Eric Watts wrestled Kamala on WCW world wide, but Kamala was in the WWF. I didn't think anything of it because I figured Kamala left the WWF for WCW, but that wasn't the case..... because Kamala was still in the WWF. He wrestled on tv and PPV's in the WWF after the match with Watts.

I was always confused on how come when you get kicked by somebody you usually get up right away(except if you get kicked by Hulk Hogan)but if you get hit by a there manger's shoe you are knocked out for the whole match.

Thanks.

I was always curious how guys the Size of BigBoss Man just didn't break through the cage door.  Hell, he was big enough, all he shouldahad to do was break down the f'n door.  I saw 100 third graders break the wire mesh age and wasn't convinced that blue cage was a whole lot stronger.

Why do fatguys have Superhuman strength?

If that's in reference to my most recent post, that wasn't what I was saying.  What I meant was that I always thought a man that size could hit the door full force and knock it off its hinges.  Hey, I was 10, what did I know?

I meant Bundy, Yokozuna, Earthquake, Tugboat, Vader, and One Man Gang.  They could slam and chokelift anyone, and would use bearhugs.
