Wrestlers from Boston

Recommended Posts

Guest nl5xsk1

It's wierd, but Boston was named a few times in the "Wrestling Capital" thread, and there seems llike lot of us on this board are from around here, but I can't think of any GOOD wrestlers from the area? In fact, the only ones I can think of are Saturn, Albert, and Kevin Sullivan. Can anyone help me out with this? I mean, there's got to be one better than Perry Saturn.

Actually, Perry Saturn was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, although he did live in Boston for sometime. So, that leaves you with Albert.

John Cena will be a franchise player one day and he is from the Boston area so there is one wrestler that if he lives up to his potential can make all the Bostonian wrestling fans proud.

If it's either Albert or Kevin Sullivan, I'm picking Sullivan. Yeah, he sucked as a booker and a wrestler, but at least he had a cool gimmick ... unlike Albert.

Man, am I hoping that Cena lives up to the hype.

I said Boston was one of the wrestling capitials cause of it's fans, not wrestlers...and if people like it or not, John Cena will be WWE champion many times over his carrer, so you could count him.

Replace Boston with New York City and you have the same thing (Minus Taz and Mick Foley).

Yeah. He was dismissed for having been born and raised in Cleveland. Damn Saturn...

Well, that's true but compare the two groups:

Taz(z): Held the ECW world title multiple times.

Foley: Held WWF world title multiple times, was one of the most over wrestlers of the late 1990s. Still missed and beloved by many.

-compared to-

Saturn: Zero world titles. Best known for carrying Kronus in an overrated TT or for screwing a mop.

Albert: Zero world titles. Best known for having a hairy back.

Sullivan: Zero world titles. Best known as a shitty booker who had Benoit steal his wife ... oh yeah, also for using a SATANIST as his main gimmick.

Advantage: NYC

What about The Duke of Dorchester Pete Dorhety?

Never heard of him.

You must be a newbie then. He was THE jobber in the old Boston Garden. He didn't have any teeth, long blonde hair and would do some Jim Duggan type "Ohhhhhhhh" to the crowd. He was on the old Primetime Wrestling show almost weekly. He worked many Boston area indies too.

Sounds like Dave "Evad" Sullivan to me. Substitute those "ohhhhh!!!!!" for retarded mumbles and grunts and that's Evad.

Staying on topic, Cena will be the best Bostonian wrestling product by the the time 2004 rolls around. By then, he'll probably be wrestling Mideon in "Jock and Fanny Pack" matc---UGH, nevermind...

What?? No love for Sullivan's Slaughterhouse or the Varsity Club? And he's not a bad color commentator either.

And I'm still waiting to see some of the crazy stuff he used to do in Florida.

Even though HHH is listed as from "Greenwich, Connecticut" isn't he from somewhere near Boston? I think I heard New Hampshire somewhere once.

John Cena, if they let him use some facets of his Prototype character, or at least do SOMETHING to differentiate him from Randy Orton, will be a huge star someday.

Also, wasn't Cena on the incredibly short-lived WWE-produced reality show "Manhunt?"

No, he tried out for the show but that is how the WWF signed him was because of that audition.

Doherty isn't Evad. He's some jobber Vince kept around because of loyalty to his dad. He was like below Horowitz on the jobber pecking order.
