Guest Blackston Report post Posted September 8, 2002 God, I really thought this year would be different. I really thought that the Bengals would be contending for a playoff spot. I really thought that with the new quarterback that we would be strong enough to get through some teams... Bring back Boomer!
Guest razazteca Report post Posted September 8, 2002 I don't know about that the Arizona Cardinals owner seems to be more insane than the Bengals owner. You don't see players make the exodus from Bengal land to the Superbowl, like the Cardinals do.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Every year I try not to get my hopes up. But after so long I can't help it. The more things change I guess. Gus isn't the answer at QB though, if they didn't want Kitna to have the job they should've let Akili have it and see what he could've done. They should've saved their money, kept Kitna, Akili, and Covington and resigned Spikes. The most discouraging thing about this game is the fact that the Chargers have trampled our defense (which was supposed to be the high point of our team) like they were 3rd stringers. This just reinforces to me that we should've drafted Phillip Buchanon when we had the chance.

Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Well, yeah - when the offense only gets around 7 minutes of possession time in the first half, you know that it isn't going to be a pretty game. The Bengals got some goods (Dillon, Warrick) - they just were never on the field long enough to do anything with them.

Guest snowfan Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Dang. The Bengals are the only team I picked that lost so far.. They need to open up their O.... oh wait they don't have a QB that Mike Brown'll let play.... Scott Covington is the best QB on the team. Believe it.

Guest imajackoff? Report post Posted September 8, 2002 in 86, 87, and 89 the Browns made it to the AFC Championship. If it wasnt for John Elway having a cape with a big S on it, Cleveland may have won the Super Bowl one of those years. I understand the hate, but he's not a loser. edit: Modell's team won the NFL Championship in 1964. He bought the franchise in 1961. Where were Brown's players those first couple of years?? You'll get no arguement from me that Modell was a poor businessman. His francise was the least prepared for the NFL w/a salary cap. My only point is that he HAS put winning teams on the field more times than not, and alot more than the group of owners that you lumped him with.

I didn't say worst records on the field. http://www.jred.com/artmodell.htm The fact that he and Gene Klein fought Al Davis' move tooth and nail makes him a hypocrit and an asshole. Klein stood by his convictions and refused to move the team even though he had similar problems to Art. Main difference is he never screwed up his PERSONAL finances to the point the esteemed Mr. Modell did.

Are you trying to tell me that a pro sports team owner would pull a complete 180 when it served his best interests?? Holy crap, stop the presses!! In all seriousness, I think Modell IS a skunk. Unfortunately, I think that is a common trait within the NFL. Starting with Tagliabue.

I can dig that they are almost all scum, but Modell is in a class that maybe only the Hornets ownership is approaching. Franchise free agency sucks.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted September 9, 2002 Damn. I can't believe the thumping the Bengals went through today -- pathetic. And this is a make-or-break year for them, too. Mr. Brown may be an idiot, but Bidwell is a worthless piece of crap. I remember Barkley ripping on him years ago because he doesn't care about his team. Not hard to argue with that, either...
