Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted September 8, 2002 When Korn first showed up (95?) i just took an instant dislike to Jonathan Davis, which i still have, but i never gave them much of a chance musically. My friend compiled a bunch of their stuff for me a while back, and i've just found it buried within a stack of old PS games, miracle it plays at all. And yes, it's mostly good stuff. I've heard a lot of good things about 'untouchables' as well, and i like 'Here to stay' and 'Thoughtless' so i'll get him to copy me that too. Just thought i'd express that. Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Nah, I've actually grown to dislike them more as time has gone on, not because they got big or anything, but their last two albums with the exception of several good songs, have been just blase material. Of course, I'm also someone who thinks Follow the Leader was their best album. I just knew their quality was slacking when I listened to the choruses of Issues and roughly 75% of them have "crazy" or "insane" in their body. They also seem to me to be pandering to the stereotype of their audience, at least in their videos. Whatever the last one was(the song was only decent) with the dude at High School getting harassed and stuff was straight up sucking up to the angst-filled teenager type. At least the video for "Here to Stay"(which is a tremendous song) was good with the interspersed words and images until the very predictable "surprise" ending. There's my piece on them. Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Well, I have also believed Korn to be one of the most overrated bands ever. Crappy riffs with cliched and annoying lyrics. Occasionally, they pull out a decent tune with a melody. They are by no means the worst but they aren't a great band either. Oh, and being credited with starting Nu-Metal isn't really something to be proud of.

I don't think i could listen to a whole album of it though, it does sound quite samey after a bit.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Korn are still around? You're kidding, right? I bought Follow the Leader back in 1998, and the Butch Vig remix of "Freak on a Leash" (forget its proper name, but its the one on the Kosovo Benefit CD, I'll dig it out later) is still pretty good, but I listened to it the other day and found it to be amazingly bad. There were some catchy riffs and choruses, but there was a pretty sickening amount of homophobia, misogyny, and general degenerative lyrics. I can't believe I owned such an album and liked it! Anyway... yea, this is Britney on Korn.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Well, considering the Homophobia that I think you're referring to was in "All in the Family" with Fred Durst, it should be noted that the entire song was a joke. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted September 8, 2002 the only Korn album I own is their self titled album, which isn't half bad, but really not the greatest thing. It was different though for the time

Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge I'm not just talking about that (I realize that was a joke dude, I'm not that sensitive ) - in general Korn drops "the other F-bomb" way too much for my taste. Hell, they even named one of their songs after it (although they didn't spell it right, so... make of that what you will).
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 8, 2002 "Faget" was on the first album. And for all you know, they could be talking about bundles of sticks. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted September 8, 2002 I'm just a pretty boy, I'm not supposed to fuck a girl I'm just a pretty boy, living in this fucked up world All my life, who am I? I'm just a faget! Faget! I'm a faget! Faget! I'm not a faget What am I? Faget! You mother fucking queers! Somehow I don't think he's singing about cigarettes
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted September 8, 2002 Though it's crude in its execution, I think "Faget" is about homophobia, but not homophobic. Still, crap's crap.
Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted September 9, 2002 yeah, it was my understanding that "faget" was about their lead singer guy getting made fun of as a kid. But like Inc said, "Still crap's, crap."
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted September 9, 2002 I can still listen to the first album whenever the planets align properly and I get in a weird mood for it, but everything past the self-titled? Ugh, Just beating the same dead gay molested horse.

Guest Narcoleptic Jumper Report post Posted September 11, 2002 Korn's first album was AWESOME. Total aggression and pure, raw emotion. Life is Peachy kind of sucked, big time sophomore slump. Follow The Leader was decent, not THAT great but still listenable. Issues was a HUGE step in the right direction. A tremendous album. Oh, yeah. Untouchables. Remember that? Didn't think so. My point: Korn needs to do something new, and evolve past this whole teen angst thing and shed that label. Only then will I really care about them anymore. Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted September 11, 2002 I find it really funny how, aside form Follow The Leader, the only listenable songs off of each KoRn album have been the singles... KoRn - I can't stand this album. Each song seems to sound like the other, with the exception of "Blind." Total waste of $14. Life Is Peachy - Bleh. I don't own it, but I borrowed my sister's copy of it a while back, and, if anything, was incredibly annoyed by every song but "K@%&*!". Follow The Leader - See what happens when a band learns how to properly construct songs, meaning they add a LITTLE melody? Yeah, they get bitched out by their fans. Perfectly listenable album, and I got it for free (uncle bought it for me), so no regrets. Issues - I couldn't stand "Falling Away From Me" after the 10th time I heard it, so I never picked it up. Listened to a friend's copy of it, and it reminded me of the s/t: completely horseshit. Untouchables - A band with a track record of 3 horrible albums and 1 listenable one will not get me to buy a new album, regardless of the fact that I enjoy the newer songs I've heard. I won't buy it, and I won't listen to it.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 18, 2002 ??? Jailbait? EH? What IS the age limit over there? Oh, and by the way there is some kind of rule here in the States about the minor being at least 16 and there being a certain amount of years between the 16 year old and the adult, but in that case it's perfectly legal. I believe the limit is something like 3-5 years... In that case I await January 14th, 2004... WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!
Guest I Like WDI Report post Posted September 18, 2002 *WOOHOO!'s for you too* 16 is the age over here, plain and simple. An 84 year old could boink a 16 year old and it'd be legal. And creepy. In Holland it's something like 12 or 14 with parental consent. But I could be wrong.
