Guest RobJohnstone Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 Great logic bro, get back to me when you are on my level. Until then your just another person trying to insult me because I disagree with your opinions. --Rob
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 I'd go to your level, but I don't want to chip away at a rock in an attempt to make a wheel while using faith as an excuse to be ignorant. Get back to be when you're evolved enough to make an intelligent argument.
Guest KoR Fungus Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 <<<Great logic bro, get back to me when you are on my level.>>> Your level? Weren't you the guy that started that silly evolution versus creation thread, kept whining for "proof" of evolution, and then never replied again as soon as proof was given? Wow man, I certainly wish I was on your level.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 No shit, that's how all of his posts work. He just runs and hides when something credible comes up that completely destroys his outdated cross-eyed look at the world.
Guest RobJohnstone Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 Your so called "proof" was not proof in my eyes. When did I run and hide? Riiiight, you know I am done talking with you guys. I dislike talking to people who cannot think for themselves. --Rob
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...You.. dislike.. people.. who can't THINK FOR THEMSELVES?!?!?!?! You've GOT to be fucking kidding me. Self loathing is a sad, sad thing, Rob. As far as the post I made not being proof, what did I have to do for it to makes sense for you? Draw pictures with crayon, and big arrows pointing to the pertinent areas? You don't see it as proof because you're too fucking stubborn or too fucking stupid to listen to reason, well-documented reason at that. You're an ignorant person, and willingly so. That's worse than any sin you can possibly think of. If that's the price of faith, then damn me to hell, because I refuse to pervert myself into a lobotomised drone in the name of a fucking storybook.
Guest KoR Fungus Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 <<<Your so called "proof" was not proof in my eyes.>>> If the long essays that AoO and Marney posted didn't constitute proof in your eyes, then you should have at least made some effort to refute them, instead of just running away. They made clear points and backed them up with sources and facts. You responded by never posting in the thread again, and then coming here and telling us that they didn't offer you proof. That, of course, is exactly what I said you'd do in the thread, so you proved me right. Yay! <<<I dislike talking to people who cannot think for themselves.>>> This coming from a Bible thumper? Your entire opinion on evolution has been dictated to you by a book! I'm stunned that you'd actually even say that, it shows just how out of touch with reality you really are.
Guest RobJohnstone Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 you know guys, I told you before we even argued about it that, I was not qualified to debate it. I know what I believe but being only 20 I do not have the knowledge to debate something like that. Even after I told you this all you guys did was just shit on my beliefs because you guys think your right. I did listen to you opinions and thought them through, but they didn't sway me towards your train of thought. Is that why you call me ignorant? Because I didn't turn to your side like some mindless idiot? --Rob
Guest EricMM Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 Robjohnstone is whats wrong with america, and the world. It's true, it's true, it's DAMN true.
Guest KoR Fungus Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 <<<I did listen to you opinions and thought them through, but they didn't sway me towards your train of thought. Is that why you call me ignorant? Because I didn't turn to your side like some mindless idiot?>>> The problem, though, is that AoO wasn't posting opinions, he was posting facts. And that's what's at the heart of it. That's why everyone's calling you ignorant. You make an absurd claim, you're presented with *facts* for why it's scientifically impossible, and you stick by the claim in the face of all logic or reason. That is the very definition of ignorance.
Guest RobJohnstone Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 you did not present facts. The geologic column and carbon datings are so innaccurate and change whenever needed to prove your points. It is all speculation that the earth is what 100 billion years old. I know two things, the bible says the earth is about 6,000 years old. Why don't we have records past 6,000 years? Secondly I know the bible says there was a flood about 4400 years ago. Why is the oldest living plant on this planet 4300 years old? Those two points are just some of the reasons I keep my faith in the bible. --Rob
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 Well, as a person who read the thread this was started about in CE, the fact that dinosaurs existed and that there was an Ice Age(both of which the Bible never even remotely mentions), pretty much shoots the "Earth is only 6,000 years old cuz the Bible said so" argument down in a pile of burning wreckage...
Guest Cancer Marney Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 Hey, cool. I didn't know the thread had turned in this direction. Johnstone, if the earth is only 6000 years old, how do you explain the dinosaurs? Do you deny that they ever existed? In your mind, are the innumerable fossils and skeletons nothing more than some weird cosmic joke or test of God's? We have written records from as far back as 3114 BC (that's when the Mayan calendar started). How come they never mentioned dinosaurs? And how did they get to the New World from the Middle East, found a civilisation, discover astronomy, build ziggurats, and invent their own gods, all in less than 900 years? Wait, even less than that because Mahaleel, Jared, Enoch, and Methuselah all had lifespans of several centuries... and even after taking overlap into account, so far you're down to about -3000 years to play with. That's quite a deficit. And we haven't even considered Adam, Seth, Enos, or Cainan, or Noah's own age at the time of the flood ("And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth." - Genesis 7:6). Sheesh, that first millennium must have been really busy. Everything had to happen so fast it took less than no time. 6000 years? That doesn't even account for everyone in Genesis, let alone Numbers. Forget evolution; forget biology; forget genetics; forget geology; forget astronomy. All these sciences converge to confirm beyond all reasonable doubt the theory of deep time, but let's set them to one side and forget about them for a moment, because what I really want to know is why you're so shamefully ignorant of the Bible. After all, you claim you're a Christian, right? So why don't you at the very least know your own Scripture? Your faith doesn't offend me. What offends me is that you're holding up God's Word for ridicule with your own submoronic intractability, and ascribing to it clear, unequivocal, and demonstrably absurd falsehoods. Your clueless blithering chips away at the credibility of the Bible as any sort of guide, because now it's associated with yet another obstinately benighted jackass - not only unlettered and unlearned but unwilling to learn, or question, or think. And that is what offends and disgusts me. "Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him." - Proverbs 26:12 Faith? Don't give me that. Faith doesn't have to be so ludicrously, willfully blind. You're just an idiot. "It very often happens that there is some question as to the earth or the sky, or the other elements of this world, respecting which one who is not a Christian has knowledge derived from most certain reasoning or observation, and it is very disgraceful and mischievous and of all things to be carefully avoided, that a Christian speaking of such matters as being according to the Christian Scriptures, should be heard by an unbeliever talking such nonsense that the unbeliever, perceiving him to be as wide of the mark as east from west, can hardly restrain himself from laughing." - Saint Augustine, De Genese ad litteram
Guest Pop Culture God Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 Scientists date the Earth at 4.6 Billion years. How do they do this? Don't ask me, but they can.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 28, 2002 Report Posted September 28, 2002 you did not present facts. --Rob Once again, ducking my points. In the evolution thread, you asked for an example of evolution in action; FACTS. I posted an example, you never posted again. In the noah's ark thread, you posted that you believed it happened, I posted FACTS as to why it was completely and utterly impossible, you did not reply.
Guest Midnight Express83 Posted September 29, 2002 Report Posted September 29, 2002 I said it once and I will say it again... The bible is nothing more than factual events, exploited and hyped up with super fairytail like beings used for nothing more than moral guidance.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 29, 2002 Report Posted September 29, 2002 And it shouldn't be used for anything more than moral guidance. (Well, in my opinion, I wouldn't recommend using it at all, but that's just me) Still, I can respect someone's right to believe in whatever god they want to believe in, I definitely would disagree with them 100%, but still, they can do that and I won't say they're stupid for being religious. However, I WILL say someone's stupid for taking the bible literally, and the events contained within as facts. For moral guidance, fine, that's a matter of opinions there, and everyone's got their own, but it is NOT an accurate historical account of anything.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted September 29, 2002 Report Posted September 29, 2002 I just got a laugh out of age being brought into this. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Brian Posted September 29, 2002 Report Posted September 29, 2002 I thought the new thing coming out of alot of biblical scholars was that the Earth's age, as well as creation, was all on a relative timeline.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 29, 2002 Report Posted September 29, 2002 A relative timeline? WTF? a million years is a million years.
Guest Midnight Express83 Posted September 29, 2002 Report Posted September 29, 2002 If the bible is right and the earth is 6000 years old. How come the city of Jericho was founded in 5000BC? Wait wouldn't that make the earth ATLEAST 7000 years old? Lets not even go into carbon dating. That city alone disproves the bible right there.
LaParkaYourCar Posted September 30, 2002 Report Posted September 30, 2002 I don't remember it saying anywhere in the bible that the earth was 6000 years old. You gotta stop talking with the wackos that give Christianity a bad name.
Guest Incandenza Posted September 30, 2002 Report Posted September 30, 2002 Ah, Rob Stone. His and Risk's feud had to be one of the crappiest net feuds in the history of internet message boards, and it would be wise to keep the Should RobStone be banned? thread in mind when you're marking your ballot for Worst Thread of 2002. EDIT: Hmm. I was rereading it, and the Risk/Rob stupidity stops after a couple of pages before descending into trademark WDI foolishness. Still, those couple of pages are worth something.
LaParkaYourCar Posted September 30, 2002 Report Posted September 30, 2002 Oh and out of curiosity how did a Biblical discussion start in a most useless posters thread anyway?
Guest Cancer Marney Posted September 30, 2002 Report Posted September 30, 2002 AoO nominated RobJohnstone as a useless poster in light of some recent threads in the CE forum.
LaParkaYourCar Posted September 30, 2002 Report Posted September 30, 2002 ahh that takes too much looking on my part. I'll just take your word for it.
Guest Cancer Marney Posted September 30, 2002 Report Posted September 30, 2002 It's on the previous page, page 10, you lazy bum. <g> Halfway down. Hit Ctrl+F and type "Agent of Oblivion" sans quotes - it's his first post on the page. Links to CE threads available upon request.
Guest Kingpk Posted September 30, 2002 Report Posted September 30, 2002 Just go to this thread for a good idea why.
