I certainly understand that the mods are in a tough position when they have 12 people asking for someone's banning, and then they get another 12 people pissed over the banning. But fuck it, you signed up for the job for reasons I could never understand, and you know you won't make everyone happy. All that said, I'm in the "lighten up camp." I think ya'll have been too ban happy lately. Of course, I know my opinion doesn't mean shit in the matter.

Have you guys ever visited the EWR board? I have never in my life seen so many fucking morons jump on every single newbie that asks a question.

 

They call them "dumbasses", "newb", "fucking retards", and other nice things about these guys. It's elitism at its absolute worst.

 

They got this way because the mods are WAY too willing to ban people for even the stupidest shit. I've seen guys banned for asking about a certain guys stats. And the mods are way too willing to cave in to the demands of every Johnny Bumfuck who posts there. And the assholes are taking advantage of the fact.

 

Just don't want to see that happen here. Thats my main concern.

Well, the only people who've been banned have been the various usernames of Smarkzone and PerfectPlex and they DID deserve it. With Razor/UltimatePoster, that was Tom's decision(hell, I don't even know what he got banned for in the first place) and he didn't help his case by coming back and using the "Nazi" bit.

Because I got a few complaints about it, recognized it as the useless excercise in trolling bullshit that it was, and zapped it.

I banned the latest iteration of Smarkzone, RazorxEDGE. He returned twice after that and was axed again both times. I don't know how many people have been banned, but even if it IS 180, what does that mean? Is a board that only banned 18 better? Considering that half the people who are banned find a way to come back and troll some more, the number of actual *people* banned (as opposed to usernames) is much lower.

 

I think the moderating team does a thankless job pretty well.
