Can you put a year rule for that board. Kayfabememories.com does it. Nothing after 1989 is considered old school. I see threads about 1997, 198, etc. and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

 

Man, Stone Cold Steve Austin is NOT old school. To me, anything after 1993 is not old school. Just my opinion.

Well, it DOES say "anything more than five years old" on the forum listings. I imagine what is considered "old school" is very subjective, but I think the people posting in there can do the math and figure out what's five years old.

Understandably, it is subjective. I'm just saying maybe it should be changed to "anything that's more than ten years old".

I personally consider everything pre-WrestleMania 14 (Austin winning the title) to be "old school", just because it's a convenient cut-off point. That's the point at which the WWF's popularity exploded, Steve Austin became a household name, the "Attitude" era began, title switches became much more frequent, etc. To me, the split between "old school" and today is more of a stylistic difference than basing it on an arbitrary date.

Also, if discussion was limited to pre-1989, that could really hinder things. A lot of posters in that forum were probably little kids in '89...

Yeah, if it was limited to pre-1989 or stuff from 10 years ago, there wouldn't be as many converstaions going on. I personally use Montreal as my cut-off point as well.

I use Montreal as well, that was really the start of "Attitude." HBK humping and picking his nose with the Canaidian flag and Austin's return and Bret getting screwed out of the promoting was the switch over to teh new guard. I think 5 years is fine, in Novemeber Montreal will have been 5 years ago.
