Guest snowfan Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 have gotten positive heat from gay groups.....
Guest Brian Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Never count on Vince McMahon to do the right thing.
Guest mickberna Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 It was all worth it. The HLA segment made my night when the Island Boys killed them dead.
Guest snowfan Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 It was all worth it. The HLA segment made my night when the Island Boys killed them dead. Okay guys here is the deal. Vince beat a "conservative" activist group that had NO heat. The VRWC is a toothless boogieman. Vince just picked a fight with a liberal activist group that lives to whine. big diff
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 What in the hell are we talking about? They've had women in their skivvies on TV for years now.
Guest mickberna Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Vince just picked a fight with a liberal activist group that lives to whine. So what? I'm sick of most television for the simple fact that everything is PC. It warms my heart to see that someone still cares about cheap, lowest-common-denomonator entertainment.
Guest snowfan Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 What in the hell are we talking about? They've had women in their skivvies on TV for years now. Yes, but they put the spotlight on themselves to screw up the "wedding". Image is everything and Glad isn't sophisticated to the fact that it was heelish on purpose.
Guest Nevermortal Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 HLA = Best Segment on Raw, no one can say otherwise. Ever.
Guest snowfan Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Mick I hate PC too.... it is not so much what he did as how he did it.... he may as well have given them a golden shower after the way the press was applauding him.
Guest Incandenza Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Uh, I didn't watch Raw. Did I miss hot girl-on-girl action?
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 That was quite possibley the saddest thing I've ever seen on WWE TV. If I wanted to see lesbians I would've been able to see a WHOLE lot more in a porno or on the net. I watch wrestling for wrestling. I can easily get all that somewhere else and I do when I feel like it. But when I watch wrestling I don't feel like seeing lesbians go at it. I'm looking for wrestling......god Vince......
Guest snowfan Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Uh, I didn't watch Raw. Did I miss hot girl-on-girl action? yes sort of
Guest Incandenza Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 I just read a detailed description of it. I like the sapphic stuff, but that just sounded dirty. Bischoff is a total erection killer.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Everyone around here is running around like a chicken with their head cut off, and forgetting two things: 1. Women in skimpy clothes on each other have been around for a while now. Remember the Trish/Stacy pillowfights and posedowns and shit we've seen for ages? 2. There's such a thing as a First Amendment and WWE can put whatever cable TV can allow on their show. However, that doesn't guarantee RATINGS GOLD, of course. In other words, this is nothing new. Why are we just now getting around to talking about whether it's PC or not?

Why are we just now getting around to talking about whether it's PC or not? You are absolutely right. Now watch as Glaad tries to use their first amendment rights to kill Vince. If the sponsors run from him in this downturn he is *ahem* screwed like Bret....

I can easily get all that somewhere else and I do when I feel like it. But when I watch wrestling I don't feel like seeing lesbians go at it. I'm looking for wrestling......god Vince...... exactly... why expose yourself to the crap for NO upside.... if I want porn I'll go for the fullblown stuff YOU CAN'T show Vince.... wrestling dammnit
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 You are absolutely right. Now watch as Glaad tries to use their first amendment rights to kill Vince. If the sponsors run from him in this downturn he is *ahem* screwed like Bret.... You're missing the point. The sponsors are well aware what's on the program. Anyone that wasn't (such as Coca-Cola years ago) was scared off by the PTC back in 2000. Again, the thing is: Women acting like tramps on WWF-TV is nothing new. Jeeez, the Godfather even carried around hos. I don't know how it just got so controversial, except for the fact that the T&A segment was just so heavily hyped tonight.
LaParkaYourCar Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Vince doesn't have enough sponsors left to lose. Think about how many times we have to see the same commercials. Pretty soon WWE will be sponsoring it's on PPV's. Remember the WWE ppv that was sponsored by Shopzone? T&A doesn't bother me anymore cause I've come to expect it. It's just that I'm sick of how they think it's what's going to pull them out of this wrestling recession. Vince thinks that because T&A helped him pull out of a recession back in 97, that it will do the same here.
Guest Incandenza Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 From what I've read, I don't see how the HLA segment was any more demeaning than the humilation of Trish from early 2001. As Jobber pointed out, right or wrong, this is nothing new.

It isn't the "raciness"...it is the fact that to the untrained eye "2 lesbians" just got the shit kicked out of them while "the inbred rednecks cheered".... screw it why argue about it GOOD JOB VINCE!!!! wohoo you wasted a segment
Guest IB2BLACK Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 It was just one segemnt. To me, it's the same as bra & panties matches, etc. I thought it served it's purpose.
Guest snowfan Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 It was just one segemnt. To me, it's the same as bra & panties matches, etc. I thought it served it's purpose. it IS NOT the same thing and the people who will bitch are not the same types of folks... Vince is an idiot if he pisses people off for NO GAIN IN RATINGS and risks ANY sponsorship revenue.... or do you think that segment will honestly turn the ratings around?
Guest IB2BLACK Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Who's going to bitch? Also, ratings aren't going to turn around off of one show, or one segement. It's going to take a long time, if they turn around at all.
Guest snowfan Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Who's going to bitch? Also, ratings aren't going to turn around off of one show, or one segement. It's going to take a long time, if they turn around at all. are you aware that WWE was being discussed on NPR and lauded for its "daring stance"? the NY papers had gay activists taking up Vince's cause... he asked for them to bitch about this. screw it fuggedaboutit I am done... Nuke your revenue Vince.... can't wait to see if HGH stays with steph when she is NOT a will be billionairess If the segment was NOT meant to pop ratings then to what gain was it on the damn show at all?
Guest IB2BLACK Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 You act like the WWE, is the next Enron or Worldcom. Cause two chicks basically hugged and teased each other for a couple of minutes.
LaParkaYourCar Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 But then again will sponsors leave because a gay rights group bitches? How serious do some people take a gay rights group? Gay rights groups have been bitching for years because of gimmicks like Adrian Adonis and Goldust.
Guest snowfan Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 You act like the WWE, is the next Enron or Worldcom. Cause two chicks basically hugged and teased each other for a couple of minutes. no I am saying the truth is the WWE financials are getting worse not better. Why take any risks of any boycott needlessly. PTC was pushing for bad TV. Vince is messing with these people asking for heat from guys who don't buy tickets. Dumb business.
Guest snowfan Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 LPmC they are annoying and do have their "sponsors" that listen. Really let it die, and I will. Vince was his usual brilliant self...what a genius....a lesbian angle that show less lesbianism than tea time on cable....and ends in a heatless squash that builds nothing. Emmy worthy booking
Guest IB2BLACK Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 I'm being sarcastic, but on tonight's episode of Road Rules, two chicks were making out. Do you think any group of organizations are going to boycott and protest?
Guest snowfan Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 I'm being sarcastic, but on tonight's episode of Road Rules, two chicks were making out. Do you think any group of organizations are going to boycott and protest? were the girls looking like they were being kicked full bore in front oif a cheering crowd of people an advocacy group thinks are the kinds of folks who "killed Matt Sheppard"? I didn't think so...again I cave Genius booking Vince
