PETA wants Brewers to have soy sausage man in race

Recommended Posts

Guest kkktookmybabyaway

OK, I was channel surfing tonight and came across "The Best Damn Sports Show Period." There was an update and that Lisa G chick made a remark about PETA wanting the Brewers to include a veggie mascot in that goofy race they do. At first I thought it was a joke, but then I came across this via Google search...

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/clubhouse?team=mil

<<<On Sept. 6, officials from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) faxed a letter to the commissioner's daughter Wendy Selig-Prieb, president and CEO of the Brewers, asking that a fifth sausage -- a veggie dog -- be allowed to compete in the Brewers traditional post sixth-inning race where people dressed in the various meat costumes race from the bullpen to the home plate. "Since Miller Park recently began selling veggie dogs to cater to the many vegetarians who are part of the Brewers' fan base, it makes sense to include a soy dog in the sausage race," wrote PETA's sports campaign coordinator Dan Shannon in the letter to the club. The Brewers' response? "While we certainly respect their viewpoint … we consider the sausage race a tradition here that we don't really care to change in any way," said team spokesman Jon Greenberg.>>>

Doesn't this bunch of hippies have better things to do with their time than asking the Brewers to include Veggie man in that sixth-inning scramble to home plate? Aren't there kitties to save from white-trash owners who torture them on grills and stuff?

And people wonder why I don't take these wackos seriously...

Simply put, no, there's nothing better for PETA to do except bust up fishing tournaments or scream about hurting the dignity of cows. Spare me.

To put it bluntly, PETA has done everything wrong if they want any respect out of me. Putting a veggie hot dog in a stupid race in a baseball stadium just goes along with their other brainbusting ideas. Let's see, how about their "Got beer?" campaigns for college students, because everyone knows college students drink too much milk and need to be binging on alcohol more.

Sweet mercy, someone get me a steak. Rare.

It might be kinda funny if they bring out the Tofu mascot, and than have the other 3 sausages, team up and beat it up.

I have an extreme love for animals. Hell, I was raised among several cats, a dog, and any number of fish. My grandma has a big "HURT AN ANIMAL - GO TO JAIL" sticker in her window. But even I think this is ridiculous.

PETA needs to go back to rescuing animals and not trying to hold up the vegetarian cause (he types, stopping to pet the kitty which just walked past the keyboard)

I support PETA but I agree - there's a difference between helping animals and attempting to force vegetarian ideals.

They want a vegetarian sausage to run in a race? I think these people have way too much times on their hands.

But Peta setting free animals at research centers only hurts advancements in Medical research. People would rather see a rat killed if it meant we're closer to a cure for Alzheimers or cancer.

PETA's totally against animal testing, which means I cannot support PETA. Howsabout one of them sign up to get injected with experimental drugs where the effects are going to be completely unknown? If they're that concerned about the life of a white rat in an Eli Lilly lab, well, go in and say, "Here, stick me instead." Personally, I'd rather have medical advancement than lab rats running free and happy, frolicing about in the sewers.

As far as the hot dog race, well, I think I sum it up best with, "Who gives a shit?"

That's like saying O'Douls should be represented in the Bud Bowl because of an alchoholics anonymous protest.

Yeah, what's the Nick DePaulo quote:

"If hooking a monkey's brain up to a car battery is going to lead to a cure for AIDS in ten years, I got one thing to say: The red is positive and the black is negative"

Whether or not he's got the colors correct, he's right.

PETA supports the two largest domestic terrorist organizations in the country, an Animal rights group and a Evironmenatl whacko group. I think they are the Animal Liberation group or something and I can't remeber the other's name at all.

These groups burn down McDonalds, burn down Ski Lodges because they are built with logs (what the fuck else would build a Ski Lodge with? Bubble Gum? Plus burning the thing down just mean that more trees will be cut down to rebuild it), attacking people wearing fur, etc... PETA gives them money to fund this shit.

Fuck PETA! They are a bunch of useless whackos who's sole positive contribution to this world was the Pamela Anderson billboard.

Let's be real honest, if one of your top priorities is the dignity of cows, you probably don't deserve to be on the top of the food chain.

Maybe they should have the veggie Dog in teh race and have it collaspe and break a leg half way because it lacks protein and calcium from not drinking milk.

Thank you, whoever you are, for turning this into another stupid Left/Right debate. We all agreed that men in giant Veggie Dog suits was idiotic, so we have to bring THIS up.

I'll just say that while I do enjoy the sciences, animals are beings, too.

I assume that for some reason you mean me. Where did I bring a Left/Rigth debate into this? I stated facts, PETA finacially supports the teo largest domestic terrorist organizations in America and called them whackos. Those are indisputable truths.

The terrorists do burn down buildings in the name of saving animals and teh evironment despite putting human life in jeopardy and hurting the environment with the smoke caused by their arson and attack people with cans of paint and verbal assualts for wearing clothes that they don't like. Have I lied or made a statement about their politcial leanings, left or right? If so point it out.

Actually, the point wasn't started by you, but was a few posts above.

And it really wasn't with PETA. If you can find me links to any news source where it says they are burning down buildings for their cause, than I'll agree with you.

PETA or no PETA, I was talking about the medical testing on animals controversey.

In teh wake of 9/11/01 terrorism was obviously teh top story and this popped up on a few Cable news shows. The hosts got PETA people on, showed proof that PETA had donated money to the (I think these are teh correct names) Animal Liberation Front and the Earth Liberation Front, two unrelated terrorist oraganiztions located in America. PETA denied knoweldge that the were terrorists on one show and on another denied giving them any money at all, despite that they declared the donation on their tax slips.

And memebers of PETA have been arrested for attacking women wearing fur with cans of paint.

I don't have any links but try typing the names in a search engine, and hopefully soemthing will pop up or maybe try the FBI website.

Save the kittens!!!

I don't know about fake snausages, but Fakin' Bacon is really really good! It's red, and crunchy, and tastes like bacon!!!

Now, I am no vegitarian, and was only in a veggie restaurant to take a semi-veggie girl out, but it was really good! Amazing. You know vegitarian food isn't necessarily worse. I get V. burritos all the time at Chipotle and Spaghetti is vegetarian too...

Fuck Animals. I say do whatever you want to them. Cook, em, use them as things in an experiment, have sex, whatever.

Animals piss me off immensely. Clean up after yourself, you mammal/amphibian/fish fucks!

I'm gonna go get my leather jacket, snakeskin boots, and fur coat out of my closet while I eat a baked stuffed scrod & extra rare steak.

Oh, and on a final note:

GO TED NUGENT

So you're a Grill 'em and Kill 'em type, eh?

I agree with PETA on some issues, but overall that organization is largely held hostage by the Far Left. It's too bad they succumb to stupid issues like the one that started this thread, among others.

Hell, I even agree with Hillary Clinton (aka the Anti-Christ) on some issues - a bankruptcy bill that was passed a year or so ago. God, I had to take a 40-minute shower to get rid of that ickiness feeling...

It was probably me since I brought up the Animal Testing. All I said was people don't care if Rats get killed if it means a cure for Cancer.

I agree and disagree. If it's for lifesaving stuff like an anti-cancer drug or something animal testing still isn't fully right (but what is?) but it is for the common good. If it's for something like shampoo or something... then free those poor little animals!

Seriously, why can't we test drugs on people? I'm not saying that animals are above people in this respect, but isn't it possible that the animals have a different enough immune system and such that it wouldn't necessarily work with people? I mean get volunteers or something of course, but still, is testing on people illegal or something?

You would be amazed how similar some animals' anatomies are to humans.

Monkeys share over 90% of the human genetic makeup. Pigs' insulin is the exact same as is produced in humans, as well. Just a couple of examples.

New drugs need to go through an animal testing phase before the FDA will let companies use them on humans. Just safety precautions, which are in place for damn good reasons.

I'd like to see them put a vegetarin hot dog out there and then have like the sausage and guy dressed up as a steak beat the living shit out of him in the middle of the field. Then they can pour A1 on the bastard and then "feather" him with pork rinds. Teach those fuckers a lesson.

Flow, do you realize that those lab rats wouldn't exist if the labs didn't breed them for doing experiments? So the "poor animals" would never exist because they serve no otehr purpose.

In the same respect that their would be virutally no beef cows or pigs in America if we didn't eat them.

Humans are more important than animals, that's why we test thinngs on animals first. Rememebr the outrage and lawsuits over testing drugs on retarded people and soldiers, like thylidimyde (I have no idea how to spell it, but it caused all types of health problems and birth defects)?

I wouldn't mind if the PETA models were naked and wrapped themselves in a hotdog bun to protest. But it is stupid and petty what they're trying to do.

How about putting them in body paint and placing the 20-something models in cages to protest fur, or whatever the hell they were trying to do...
