WWE RAW WORKRATE REPORT 9/9/02

What Worked

 

-I don’t really like any of the workers in the opening tag match but that did show the value in traditional tag wrestling. Work the tried and true formula well it can make a bunch of quasi useless guys look great. Storm took some bumps, but I didn’t think he looked as good as Bradshaw here. Isn’t Just Joe Canadian? Couldn’t they get him for this group?

 

-Bubba Ray Dudley v. Steven Richards was surprisingly watchable, Stevie has been alot of fun on Heat for the last little bit and it is nice that he gets a chance on the big show. They should find something for him to do, I am not one of those blinders on ECW fans who tear up every time Tommy Dreamer gets misty, but his original Stevie Richards gimmick was some brilliant shit, and is way better then the fascist in running pants thing he is doing now, bring back the half shirts.

 

-Man has HHH cycled down, he actually looks vaguely human now. He also can move around a bit now that he isn’t carrying 30 pounds of growth hormone. This is his second good match in as many weeks, although alot of that has to do with Spike Dudley being damn good at playing a poor man’s Kikuchi. I think if they had made this for the title it would have had more heat, but I enjoyed it.

 

-I hope Regal in the Un-Americans means he works alot more with Dustin, as those two guys are probably one and two for workers on this roster. Regal looked fired up here, and Dustin can play face in peril great, Booker and Dustin is easy the best tag team that Booker has ever been in, and they should give them the tag straps. Either that or have Dustin take the World title, that is his daddy’s belt IF YOUUU WEEEEL.

 

-The main event was a fun poor mans X-Division 3-way. Their are better spots fests weekly at your Indy of choice, but this had some fun stuff. This is RVD’s kind of match, and they should keep him in them so he doesn’t embaress himself against real wrestlers, the DDT and German suplex bumps where fucking beautiful.

 

What Didn’t Work

 

-I was on the way to my girlfriends house on Saturday night (she lives in the part of Dupont Circle where the bougie homosexuals live, there is another part which is full of teen hustlers, and military guys with Virginia tags and baby seats surreptitiously talking to them, that part is where you can usually find Rippa.) It was around 3:00am as this was a booty call more then anything else, so I pass this tall blind drag queen, and I was really impressed with the immaculate make-up she was wearing, clearly someone did a heck of a job, or she has an innate sense of beauty which isn’t dependant on seeing the results. On an unrelated note, boy is Terri Runnels a worn out useless skag. Are her and Terri doing a “My Mom is a Slut” Springer gimmick or something? If they are doing a Springer gimmick I hope this means we get to see Jamie Dundee.

 

-That Lesbian thing was so lame and seedy. I don’t think the secret to turning around RAW’s ratings is to steal ideas from Rob Black. I expected them to break out speculum. Austin better keep his thumbs tucked in
