Guest Human Fly Report post Posted September 10, 2002 Where are they going with this? I hope this doesn't mean they are setting up for a Bubba/HHH feud after HHH dispatches with RVD. If they are just building towards a Raw match then it's kind of pointless. I'm not following the logic of giving Bubba Dudley anything close to resembling a M.E. push. Guest Insane Bump Machine Report post Posted September 10, 2002 They protected Bubba for months for one reason: to give HHH the RUB~! Hunter has to build up his heat, you know. No, I really don't know what they have in mind.
Guest humongous2002 Report post Posted September 10, 2002 You are forgetting that Bubba is a hoss and on top of that Bubba tough "by GAWD!". Bubba without D-von is useless, D-von without Bubba is useless now you do the math.
Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted September 10, 2002 I'm also baffled at this. I can't possibly believe that Bubba will get any sort of serious title shot. I mean, a match on Raw next week might be ok but this can't possibly lead to a PPV match or anything.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted September 10, 2002 With the split squads, they have to mix it up and make some of the lesser guys look credible. With only a few main eventers, they have to have a variety of threats to keep things interesting. Feed these midcarders to the champ on Raw, keep the main event matchups for the ppv. Don't give away the good matches on free tv. I don't have a problem with that.
Guest Leena Report post Posted September 10, 2002 Bubba can stand up to the champion, because he's Bubba Tough. Don't you ever count him out.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted September 10, 2002 They're just building up a Bubba-Triple H match for RAW. It's actually forward-thinking booking so everything doesn't have a "Why are these guys fighting?" feel. It's a good thing.
Guest notJames Report post Posted September 10, 2002 I'm not too worried about this feud. Buh Buh's decent in the ring, can be carried to a watchable match, gets the crowd to pop for tables, and sells well enough for gov't work. And given that there's a dearth of upper level talent on RAW, I say build 'em while you got 'em. If anything, I'm more worried about Buh Buh having to lower himself to HHH... Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted September 10, 2002 Who else is HHH going to face after he beats RVD? There is noone else credible enough for him to face, except possibly Kane or Flair(which he just wrestled). Bubba is the next logical choice.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted September 10, 2002 Its like the Brock Angle buildup, for the Last two months they had this subtile buildup but hasn't gone no where...just passing comments and staredowns almost like testing the waters with the fans. If the fans react positively then they may go ahead with the angle. Just email the Raw feedback and tell them For god sakes NOOOO DON'T!!! AHHHH Not in those words of course. Guest Brian Report post Posted September 10, 2002 Well, they go back to HHH/Michaels but probably, hopefully without the world title. That feud has so much to it right now that they don't need the title. They should bring shanw to the pay per view, in his wheel chair.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted September 10, 2002 All I know is that the day that Devon and Bubba pull a 3D on someone, it will be one of the biggest markout moments in a LONG time.
Guest RenegadeX28 Report post Posted September 10, 2002 I bet that Bubba will somehow get involved in the Unforgiven HHH vs RVD match. He will come close to screwing HHH over, but let's save the screwing over HHH scenario for HBK's return.
Guest Slingshot Suplex Report post Posted September 10, 2002 I didn't see what happened this week but I really enjoyed the confrontational promo Bubba and HHH had the week before.
Guest DJ Jeff Report post Posted September 10, 2002 Actually, I'm glad to see the WWE pushing mid card superstars, like Bubba Ray, to the main event. True, I don't think he'll wrestle in the main event at a PPV, but then, you never know. I think for sure it will be HHH© vs. Bubba Ray for the World Title on RAW next week, with HHH winning, of course.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted September 10, 2002 Just like HBK, just like Ric Flair, just like spike dudley, just like the world title, just like RVD, just like foley back in 2000 - this is just another attempt to get HHH over as superduper-heel. Of course, it won't work - because HHH's routine is tired, but at least Bubba will get a bit of a rub from it. He isn't main event material and HHH knows it - so he isn't threatened by Bubba - so he will give him some leeway. Now RVD, on the other hand....
Guest DJ Jeff Report post Posted September 10, 2002 Pushing Bubba Ray as a main eventer wouldn't hurt. After all, he's been in the WWE for 3 years now, I think, so he deserves somewhat of a push. Okay, maybe main event is too much of a push right now, but at least mid card level, competing for the Intercontinental Title.
Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted September 10, 2002 But why Bubba Ray? Hell ECW got crucified enough when they had Taz face him for the title on a PPV. You all are referencing this as "HHH will do this after he beats RVD." In god's name.....WHY?? It's not like it's a better alternative or something. HHH needs a feud with a legit top line face and RVD is it for him. Next week let him squash Bubba and be done with it so we can move on to serious business. Guest BaldFish Report post Posted September 10, 2002 I'm all in favor of Bubba getting his title shot: it provides character development that he desperately needs, beyond the change in his wrestling style. And I'd really rather see Bubba than HHH with a major title. He's developed a more well-rounded character than D-Von, or even HHH at this point.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted September 10, 2002 Is anybody else afraid that this will turn into more then just a Raw match? What if HHH beats RVD at this ppv, and then fights Bubba at the next one? Just remember that while Bubba Dudley is getting ready to have a match/matches with the World Champ Booker T. is stuck in tag matches.
Guest Leena Report post Posted September 11, 2002 I wouldn't mind HHH/Bubba. HHH always must look stronger, so use Bubba for that role, he needs some losses anyway.
Guest Ram Report post Posted September 11, 2002 Bubba could barely keep up with Richards Monday. When Steven through Bubba into the ropes, Bubba slowly lumbered into them and slowly lumbered out of them. Keep him out of the damned main event.
Guest Olympic Slam Report post Posted September 11, 2002 Bubba isn't exactly a liability in the ring as he can put on a darn good match but I just don't get why he has been protected so much. Brock had to cheat to beat him, he's gone over Benoit, Eddie, and Regal/Nowinski on a weekly basis. Can anyone else thing of a superstar NOT named HHH or Brock who has had there heat protected as much as Bubba Dudley? Bubba is definitely worthy of being a big player in the mid-card, but I really think Booker T (while arguably not the worker Bubba is) should be the man in his shoes. Guest SuperTonyJaymz Report post Posted September 11, 2002 Bubba Dudley is very underated. Name a good Brock match that didn't include the Rock? Yup, the Bubba Ray match. And why can't it be buuba Ray vs. Triple H for number one contendership at the next ppv? hmm? hmmmm?
Guest Slingshot Suplex Report post Posted September 11, 2002 And why can't it be buuba Ray vs. Triple H for number one contendership at the next ppv? hmm? hmmmm? Because HHH is the Raw World Champion,Bah Gawd!
Guest Choken One Report post Posted September 11, 2002 Bubba easily reminds everyone of Dusty Rhodes, right down to the moveset and mannerisms. That's the character Bubba is, The everyday fat hard working blue collar fun loving guy...Ala Rhodes. Game is Flair...Young. Cocky. Brass. Cheats to win. I'm not comparing them but if Rhodes/Flair could go on for years then why can't Bubba/Game last a month?
Guest Slingshot Suplex Report post Posted September 11, 2002 I think it may even end up being a pretty good mini feud if Bubba doesn't get totally buried.
