Guest Spit Green Mist Posted February 25, 2002 Report Posted February 25, 2002 I know just about every indy fan has seen some independent shows where they have super junior tourney's, and wonder why some guys in the area weren't used, or why some guys weren't brought in. I saw a tag team tourney thread similar to this, so I figured I'd start a light heavyweight thread... Please post guys that are currently not under contract...
Guest Zack Malibu Posted February 26, 2002 Report Posted February 26, 2002 Low Ki vs. Michael Modest American Dragon vs. Juventud Guerrera Trent Acid vs. Christopher Daniels Donovan Morgan vs. AJ Styles Reckless Youth vs. Red Joel Maximo vs. Jose Maximo Psicosis vs. Jeremy Lopez Shark Boy vs. Air Paris
Guest poopsicle316 Posted February 26, 2002 Report Posted February 26, 2002 16 men, I won't bother booking the matches: Chris Daniels Reckless Youth Trent Acid Low Ki Shannon Moore Red Jose Maximo Joel Maximo Eddy Guerrero CM Punk Adam Flash AJ Styles American Dragon Samoa Joe Quiet Storm Jay Briscoe
Guest HybridNetwork Posted February 26, 2002 Report Posted February 26, 2002 I'd keep it simple with 8: "Slyk" Wagner Brown vs. Chris Daniels Low Ki' vs. AJ Styles Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Psicosis Mike Modest vs. American Dragon *I edited this message only because I accidently put Low Ki' twice.
Guest Spit Green Mist Posted February 26, 2002 Report Posted February 26, 2002 I guess this thread didn't get over as much as I thought it would... Anywho, here are the guys I'd put in the tourney Lowki Reckless Youth Trent Acid Red AJ Styles American Dragon Christopher Daniels Scoot Andrews Quiet Storm Xavier Homicide Dixie -From Jersey All Pro Wrestling... Damn good talent Insane Dragon - Also from Jersey All Pro... Damn good talent as well, and a better high flyer then Red (Believe it or not) Mike Quackenbush Mike Modest Billy Reil
Guest ulfistgut Posted February 26, 2002 Report Posted February 26, 2002 Gotta pimp the UK guys in these tournament threads, but you gotta have Jodie Fleisch in a Super Juniors tourney. I personally would love to see him vs. red
Guest J*ingus Posted February 26, 2002 Report Posted February 26, 2002 Mike Modest isn't a cruiserweight, he's got a thick stocky build and is close to 250 pounds. He's no high-flyer. To do things a bit differently, I'd pick eight cruisers who work the indies here around Nashville who you've probably never heard of: Kid Thrilla Superfly P Dynamite Dan Tim Scruggs Chase Stevens aka Glacius Cassidy O'Reilly Kid Sinnistar Hexgage And finally, to all you people picking Low-Ki, let me ask: why? After seeing him on the WWA show I was not impressed at all. Oooh, he can kick someone as hard as he can while giving them no protection at all, yeah, that takes a lot of skill. There's nothing that he can do that Tajiri can't do better. Why does everyone shill for this guy?
Guest poopsicle316 Posted February 26, 2002 Report Posted February 26, 2002 1) Don't base your opinion of Low Ki on that horrible match, the guy is alot more than kicks and really knows how to build a match. But from your tone, it seems that you just wanted to talk trash on Ki, you could probably care less about him. If that's not the case, I apoligize. 2) Dammit!! How could I forget Quack and the "Reil" Deal?!?! 3) It's not that the thread didn't go over well, it's just that not enough people come to this board regularly.
Guest One51 Posted February 26, 2002 Report Posted February 26, 2002 I don't know...I'll just throw out 16 names I would like to see in a tourey...no particular order Trent Acid Chris Daniels Red Insane Dragon Homicide Super Dragon Xavier Mike Quackenbush Reckless Youth Jay Briscoe Kid Kreul Jodie Fleisch(Flash) Stryker American Dragon Jonny Storm Spanky OH MY GOD I DIDN'T PICK LOW KI!!!!!!! because I think he is overrated, adn see nothing especially great about him....I mean I'll watch him, and he is a good Indy wrestler, but not as good as you guys make him out to be...I think Xavier is 10x better than Low Ki.....same for Homicide....ow Ki is way too overrated.... and Jingus he got that way, because there was probably an Indy reviewer who said he was going to be special, and then all the super smart marks stole his idea, and started making low ki into a god......I could pay somebody to say that Gillberg was a great worker, and half of this board would jump on his dick...People just aren't original...There are probably people who have always liked him, but the number of wagon jumpers are about 800x the ammount of originals.... There is my list....

Guest Shaneomac Posted February 27, 2002 Report Posted February 27, 2002 Spanky vs. Juvi Juice Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Eddy Guerrero Psychosis vs. Christopher Daniels Low Ki vs. American Dragon
Guest HybridNetwork Posted February 27, 2002 Report Posted February 27, 2002 Why are some of these people getting offended that some of us chose Low Ki' for this fantasy tourney? The way they write their messages they seem like they're responding to myself and others going on and on about how amazing Low Ki' is. I've seen Low Ki wrestle several times and I enjoy watching him wrestle therefore I chose him for my fantasy tourney. I'm not proclaiming that he's a wrestling god. It seems that they chose Low Ki' at random because his name appears often, by that token I could claim that I'm sick of hearing about how great American Dragon is. It just doesn't make sense.
Guest TheDames7 Posted February 27, 2002 Report Posted February 27, 2002 The WWA PPV was a poor showing of Low-Ki and Chris Daniels, IMO. Low-Ki is a lot more than just kicks. He knows chain wrestling, submission wrestling, he can do some high flying stuff and is good with strikes. He has a decent knowledge of psychology as well. Chris Daniels is extremely innovative and has an awesome gimmick in the "Fallen Angel". He can work any style although he is a more grounded wrestler. He can sell his ass off too. Dames
Guest Spit Green Mist Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 Hate to break it to ya, Freak... But Jason Jett, or EZ Money is under WWF contract in a developmental deal from what I know ... I asked for people not under contract. By the way... I'm just being a dick because you said Dragon isn't that great... I personally think he can run circles around Red.
Guest Frea 5000 Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 I missed the part saying people not under wwf contract....oops...I knew Jason Jett was under contract though. I'll pick Brian XL to replace him.
Guest One51 Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 I am not judgiing your picks of Low Ki. I was just saying that I don't like his style(fake Japanese Style), and he is a dick in real life, so I don' think he deserves to be in all these tourneys and things...he is not the #1 indy wrestler, nor do I think he ever will be. He is entertaining sometimes, but not enough to be huge...He has no personality and only has a few good matches(with certain opponents)... He is cool I guess, but overrated....he isn't even top 25 in my book(or maybe he is who knows).... I also guarentee you that all this publicity is going to his head, and that he will be a complete asshole by the summer or early 2003....
Guest Rev Posted March 3, 2002 Report Posted March 3, 2002 Note: Samoa Joe weighs 270 lbs. He isn't remotely a junior. Styles (Wildside)
Guest youdictategood Posted March 3, 2002 Report Posted March 3, 2002 I don't think I'm naming anyone new, but just for fun, my 16: AJ Styles Jason Cross Lo-Ki Jodi Fleisch Red American Dragon Jay Briscoe Brian XL Scoot Andrews Donovan Morgan RC Haas Chris Daniels Jeremy Lopez Tony Mamaluke Trent Acid Mike Quackenbush And yep, Lo-Ki is in the tournament. I'm not saying he's the best indy worker in the US right now or he should be a WWF superstar or anything of the sort; but I think to put on a sixteen-man tournament and not have the guy in it would be ridiculous. He's definitely one of the top sixteen indy cruisers in the US, and I think even those who don't particularly like him would have to concede that. And as for Fleisch, let me just say that I don't think he's a very good wrestler either, but he's damn sure entertaining to watch, and seeing Jodi v. Mamaluke take turns trying to break their own necks with springboard shooting stars and tormnado DDTs to the floor would be at the very least a very fun train wreck.
Guest Rev Posted March 4, 2002 Report Posted March 4, 2002 I can't believe I forgot Fleisch. A match between he and Red would be fun as hell to watch.
Guest yoshihiromwt Posted March 4, 2002 Report Posted March 4, 2002 Here's my 16.... A.J. Styles (because he's F'n God in blue tights) Christopher Daniels Matt Stryker Chad Collyer Chase Stevens (I'm a big mark for the Hotshots...don't ask me why) Jeremy Lopez Jason Cross Trent Acid Quiet Storm Super Dragon Spanky American Dragon Johnny Kashmere Jay Briscoe Xavier (a healthy) Ric Blade
Guest Steve Posted March 4, 2002 Report Posted March 4, 2002 Note: Samoa Joe weighs 270 lbs. He isn't remotely a junior. Guess you never met Samoa Joe Sr! Steve
