What's The Big Deal

(Take this in stride, pals)

Why do people make such a big deal about post counts? Everywhere I turn, it's "1000th post" this and "500th" post that. Who cares? I mean, I have 700 posts, but I didn't make a topic about it. No siree.

This is post 701 for me. :P

But this topic must serve a purpose, so here we go. To celebrate the fact that I've made 701 slightly-coherant thoughts since June (which is about three times as many as the original Smarks Board, God bless the Quick Reply), I'm going to debut a new little thing that got over on another message board. I neglected to do it here, as it was a little similar to what the Dames was doing at the time, but he's stopped signing the bottom. So don't get scared when you see posts that end like this:

Mattdotcom...knows no one cares...

Why would I be scared of that?

Oh, and I celebrate post counts because I'm a loser. Yep.

Damn, that's funny...

As far as the post counts go, I never cared in the first place, so I never made a thread dedicated to it either on the old board or on here.

You would be scared because it's something new and (not) exciting.

They have ovals in Canada?

Mattdotcom...scarred for life by Ovaltine commercials...

More OVALTINE Please!!

That stuff is nasty, I don't know what self respecting kid would prefer it over Nestle's Quick, let alone drink the stuff. I had a friend whos mom used to make him drink the stuff a couple years back every day before school, and he would always talk about being forced to drink the Eviltine.

Lets all thank Bob Barron for the nice distraction...

Then Jingus hasn't given you your negative post count yet. :)

My post count it not at all relative to my modestly sized penis. Neither is it relative to the percentage of roundness and lack of flavor in a can of Ovaltine. My post count is relative to... well, the hell if I know. But I [heart] my post count. I really do. I've said why before, and if you weren't paying attention... ummmm... I don't have to listen to you because you have less posts than me!

That is an act of thievery! Unless, of course, your name is Kenneth Banya, in which case you may go about your business.

This is hopelessly off-topic, but Bob Barron's uncredited "Seinfeld" rip-off joke got me to reminiscing. I once interrupted a friend using a mildy amusing Ray Ramano bit on this incredibly gorgeous girl by completely calling him on it and making him look like an idiot. He refused to speak to me for about a month. It just goes to show that having a friend who's memorized every comedy routine he's ever heard is not always a bucket of sunshine.

Oh, and post counts are meaningless. When you see an enormous post count, remember that at least 50% of that most likely comes from nonsense and whoring.

I never accused you, Mr Rant. The genuine post whores know who they are. I may not have an excessively large post count, but I've earned every one of the posts I do have. All 1790 of them--plus 100 for Metal Ed--have come through blood, sweat, and tears.

Posted

I never said you did lol. I have earned many with my Sermon's to the masses.

And they're much appreciated, I'm sure. The real indicator of one's greatness here is in the Member # catergory, which makes me several months and 1700 people cooler than you are. Booyah!

Well..... well..... I.... I.... I'm a ordained Minister so there!

Yeah, well, I'm Metal Ed, the most beloved gimmick poster in the history of the universe. AND I won the Smart Marks contest for best article this month. AND I'm a pretty major player down at McDonald's. I rule, man.

Posted

Well I may win this month. I had a baby so I was busy. Go and read it on the main site and cry because I have returned and shall rule once again! And I work for AT&T Broadband and control both TV and Internet... BWHAHAAHAHAHAHA

Oh yea? Well I would've won easy, except for one problem... writer's block. I swear man, Blazing Arrow is my favorite hip-hop album of the year, but I've been writing the article for weeks now and I don't even have two paragraphs. Maybe music review just isn't in me anymore (I used to write the weekly "Music 411" review column for my high school newspaper Senior Year)... or maybe I'm just so used to writing about bad albums that when I finally get a good one I don't know what to say. How do you combat writer's block in regards to music columns Kinetic (and Incandenza, when he reads this)?

Yea, but yours are rants... you can write a lot more "freely", almost to the point of "stream of consciousness" in a rant, ya know? I can go on and on and on about why every other hip-hop CD released this year except Blackalicious sucked, but that wouldn't be my style and wouldn't really get over Blackaclicious either, as its difficult to compare to them to anyone else, except for some other "conscious rappers" who are as equally semi-obscure as Blackalicious are.
