Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted September 11, 2002 WWE Raw Rating Plummets To 4+ Year Low WWE Raw got only a 3.4 rating on Monday night on TNN, the lowest rating for Raw in its normal timeslot in over four years. The show did hours of 3.3 and 3.5. Even with the much-hyped "Hot Lesbian Action", the show failed to draw ratings against the debut of Monday Night Football. credit: 1wrestling.com/411wrestling.com
Guest humongous2002 Report post Posted September 11, 2002 I bet they'll blame it on Jericho for being in the main event.

Guest Kingpk Report post Posted September 11, 2002 I'm not surprised. As soon as I heard the words "Hot Lesbian Action" the channel stayed on ABC. Idiots.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted September 11, 2002 They call it "much-hyped", yet it wasn't announced until during the show. The wedding is much-hyped, but that wasn't.
Guest snowfan Report post Posted September 11, 2002 They call it "much-hyped", yet it wasn't announced until during the show. The wedding is much-hyped, but that wasn't. There is (in WWE theory) a large pool of pavlovian trained people who tune into the first segment of Raw to get their HGH fix. It was very hyped during the *speech*. It died. I agree with your main point.
Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted September 11, 2002 The show I gave up on is flopping hard. It's almost a good thing in a way. It'll be interesting to see information about specific segments and the like. Does the Observer still do those every week?
Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted September 11, 2002 But, it had hot lesbian action, I thought everyone in the world would be glued to their tv sets wanting to see that.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted September 11, 2002 Good. That's what you get. The funny part is that I liked HHH more the past two weeks than at any time since his return... but, honestly... Who really beleives that RVD has a chance in hell of beating HHH at the ppv? So why watch? I saw this movie before...I think it was called Jericho. What makes it really bad for RVD is that the ratings are so shitty...they won't push him after he returns the job. Guest razazteca Report post Posted September 12, 2002 well I did like the Main Event, which I recorded cause the football game was too good to change the channel. It will not get any better, since the next football game will be between long time rivals Eagles vs Redskins. The only way Raw can increase my interest is if there are some suprise changes on Raw such as new announcers or new talent showing up. And reading the Smackdown spoilers I could care less about its newest defector. Need more Regal, Bookdust, RVD
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2002 *Spoiler Warning* What's wrong with Rico? I think the guy has skills and it's good to get him away from Billy and Chuck. I'm glad he's going to RAW cause now I can add him to the few things I like about RAW: Bischoff, RVD, Book Dust, and now Rico.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted September 12, 2002 well the guy is ok but he is not a major reason to tune in to Raw for.....if it was a certain mask luchadore then I would get excited
Guest creativename Report post Posted September 12, 2002 What makes it really bad for RVD is that the ratings are so shitty...they won't push him after he returns the job. I feel really bad for RVD. I thought that he had a legitimate shot of becoming a true wrestling Icon, a few steps below Hogan, Austin, and Rock, and a bit below guys like Savage and Goldberg. But, WWE appears to have completely dropped the ball on him. They didn't strike while the iron was hot, say 8-12 months ago. Now a big push might not have the same impact it would have had then. I am convinced though that WWE is waiting to push RVD until the situation seems brighter. I think that there is a good chance of him winning next year's Rumble, and perhaps winning the title at Mania in a "New Era" type of victory. However while I think that RVD will eventually get a big push, I also think the timing will be completely off. Wrestling appears to have entered another dark age, and it will probably be some years before come substantially close to its peak levels. So RVD's push will not leave a lasting impact. I consider RVD one of the major victims (among wrestlers) of the cyclicality of the business.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2002 I can understand them trying to wait until a better time to push RVD so not to waste it, but then again an RVD push might give a little boost since it is what fans have been asking for since the end of last year. I like the idea of him winning the Rumble and main eventing Mania...heck I might even be willing to wait just to see that since it isn't that far off. As long as they slow build to it in the meantime. They can't wait and wait and then spring it on us, because by that time the fans will have grown bitter from not getting what they want. Guest justcoz Report post Posted September 12, 2002 There is no more Nitro and they need to look at Monday Night Football as their competition which means that they need to make RAW more special. First, when MNF is in any state of decline, the first thing they do is revamp the announce team. Lawler needs to go. Perhaps he can stay on the payroll and host a Kings Court segment so fans can get their weekly dose of 'puppies' and t & a comments. Bringing Jesse Ventura in on commentary would attract a lot of publicity. What would you do for play by play though? Joey Styles and Ventura would be great in my opinion. If they could sign away Mike Tenay but he may be too bland to feed off of Jesse. Scott Hudson would be acceptable. Perhaps a three man team of Styles or Hudson, Ventura and perhaps a Raven, DDP or Tommy Dreamer? What about JR? Well, if RAW goes to a three man team, I would have Bischoff fire JR on RAW and set up Ross debuting on Smackdown with Cole and Tazz. The key is to stop plugging away at the next PPV like it's business as usual and do something to make the shows themselves an event. I also think both the Smackdown and RAW brands should build towards rotating their PPV's as the shows and storylines would be a lot more paced with two months worth of buildup. With WWE being the only game in town, is there any reason they couldn't do one shot deals to bring in someone like a Randy Savage for several weeks for a television feud with someone like Booker? A Sabu tryout against RVD? It's not like these guys are going to appear on someone else's tv show the next week if they aren't signed long term.
