Both were there to meet Joanie Laurer, who has now been nicknamed "the muscular witch", but Waltman made an angry demand to be let in New Japan. DDP obviously won't be going to New Japan because of his injury and subsequent retirement, but Waltman is a possibility because he has begun training at the dojo. Oh dear.
Guest cynicalprofit Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 When they beat his ass out, Im sure he'll say something about being a bigger draw then they are so they wouldnt hire him because they were scared of his talent and how he'd be more over then they were...which will then cause the net to laugh at him uncontrolably. Anyone got info as to where this dojo is? Id really like to go some day.

I think it's for martial artists to train and for wrestlers training to adjust to the NJ style. They might hold some sparing sessions since big names train there but I don't know if they are open to the public. Then again if you pose as a journalist you might have a better shot.

Not unless he wants to work in the junior division again, which I highly doubt. Seeing present day Waltman trying to go back to the Lightning Kid would be humorous, if anything.

Perhaps it was his source of power.....hmm, makes you wonder. Seriously, if the guy isn't good enough for the WWE, why should he be in NJ? I guess if he keeps his hatch shut and does what he's told and quits thinking he's a big draw, perhaps he wouldn't be so bad.
Guest Pegasus Kid Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 Despite the general public hating him, Waltman is an above average - very good worker when he feels up to it. Amidst the sea of bad matches in the WWE over the last few years there were a few flashes of brilliance, particularly against Billy Kidman and Tajiri. The talent has always been there; it's just his attitude that stinks. The WWE let him go because his head got too big and that was backed up by his belief that The Outsiders and HHH would always be there to politically save him. With HHH doing his own thing, Hall gone and Nash injured there was no one left and they got rid of him. It will be interesting to see if he has a turnaround on the independant circuit and in New Japan. He's scheduled to work Sabu in the very near future and I'm sure some net folks will be there to hate or praise his work. Despite what most of you might think, I'm sure he'll end up in New Japan at least for one tour. There's no reason he can't work the middle ground where he's considered a junior but can work with the heavies like Lyger or Nogami.
Guest RickyChosyu Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 X-Pac is decent when he wants to be. vs. Tajiri and vs. Kidman were alright, but nothing too exceptional, and a lot of the praise for both of them came from people being so un-used to seeing X-Pac care about his work. Seeing 2001 Waltman hitting a summersault plancha is bound to make the match seem above average. Add that with the other guys in there to fill in the gaps with exciting offense, and he made a few ripples, but like I said, nothing that great. Plus, his attitude is just horrendous. He's smart enough to know that complaining about injurries to get out of matches doesn't cut it in Japan, but already he's pretending that he's a big star and trying to use personal connections to get himself a spot, as opposed to just asking for a job. Unfortunately, he might actually get some protection through Lauler's association with Inoki. If he works really hard he might be able to have some decent sprints like he did a few times in the WWF, but if his attitude stays how it is, I don't see why he would feel obligated to do that.

I doubt it's open to the public. I had a convo with Mr Fujinami Tatsumi, and their dojo in Tokyo is definately not open to ANYONE.

Guest Brian Posted September 14, 2002 Report Posted September 14, 2002 I sort of want to see X-Pac vs. Sabu, just because it harkens back some good memories. The dojo is also used for Inoki's stateside work and scouting indy talent, the occasional tryout, and training indy and mixed martial arts talent as far as I know.
