Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted September 11, 2002 After listening to all sorts of music, and pretty much fibbing on my playlist which included some rap that I hate ie Nelly... and some other stuff like Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit...I am now the radio DJ at my highschool. Now I have over 2 hours of air play during the day....which kicks total ass, and I'm thinking of some variety some rules....like always no swearing no tunnel vision no god bashing (IE pratically no good metal...) Here is what i am going to play...maybe not all in a day...but just to expose people to new stuff. Rap: NAS Eminem (i got some radio edit stuff) Run DMC House of Pain Cypress Hill Pop: KYLIE MINOGUE! Shakira Punk: Ramones Sex Pistols Clash Metal: Metallica Megadeth Tool Iron Maiden Megadeth Faith No More Disturbed (best nu-metal band out there...) and many others even hair bands Rock: Pink Floyd Led Zeppelin Who Beatles Pink Floyd Van Halen GnR AC/DC Alice In Chains Neil Young Pearl Jam Smashing Pumpkins Prog/guitar gods Dream Theater Joe Satriaini Steve Vai Rush Genesis Yes Canadian stuff: Rush Guess Who Tea Party Our Lady Peace Sum 41 Swollen Members and some other junk including...VELVET UNDERGROUND! also if you want recommend some stuff to me and i'll rip it to a CD
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted September 12, 2002 I'm soon to be a DJ at my college. However, it's from 4-6 on Thursday mornings, and I only have a limited selection of music, since college radio is hell bent on doing underrecognized talent. However, at the end of every hour, I get to play ONE song of my choice! Death metal for breakfast, anyone?
Guest TUS_02 Report post Posted September 12, 2002 You put Faith No More up there... couldn't be any prouder... .... That is until you put up Fantomas or Tomahawk up there.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted September 12, 2002 Canadian stuff: Rush Guess Who Tea Party Our Lady Peace Sum 41 Swollen Members You really want to depress all the kids in your school between classes?
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted September 12, 2002 <----Also a radio DJ at school, although I have 24 hours control. People come by and play their hits for hours at a time, but I do all the radio editing (which takes 25-30 minutes a song). CHOICES: NONE OF THE DEATH METAL or HEAVY PUNK. I have to tone down my tastes for the "pop/rap tunnel-vision" stuff. So I'm left with a LOT of Rap Nelly Eminem Ja-Rule Ludacris Run DMC Fabolous Outkast (my FAVE....) Busta Rhymes Xzibit Pop: Shakira Michelle Branch Avril Lavigne Usher SUM 41 (just the pop-ish stuff of theirs) Rock: Puddle of Mudd Chili Peppers Disturbed Metallica P.O.D Etc. Limp Bizkit Linkin Park Creed BTW, 10 of the 24 hours is dedicated to local hits...
Guest mesepher Report post Posted September 12, 2002 I wanted to be a DJ for the college radio here but I missed the meeting for it. Its probably a good thing too, since I'd mostly play that "hippie shit"
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted September 12, 2002 heh, my school's station was cool. The dude that ran the radio stuff was a total drunk that was going senile, and didn't even listen to the station. Every Wednesday at 8PM, it was Rip your Face Off Radio. I just brought CD's in and played them, giving the weather in between Cannibal Corpse, Mayhem, and old White Zombie. (My cd collection was rather limited at that point.) I think my metal collection consisted of Mayhem, CC, Slayer, Megadeth, Pantera, and a couple Iron Maiden tapes.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted September 12, 2002 Play some fucking Wilco, man! I'm dying to hear them on the radio. They've become my new "if only more people could hear this, they'd be HUGE" band. I'd like to see "I am trying to break your heart"--the movie, not the song--develop a sort of "Rocky Horror Picture Show"-esque cult following. Oh, and there's this: "Hot In Herre" is the best goddamn single released this summer and anyone should feel honored to have the privilege of playing it. Guest chirs3 Report post Posted September 12, 2002 Just today I got assigned a two hour shift at my college radio station: 1-3 PM on Saturday afternoons, to play... whatever, really. I don't know how large our selection is, but I've never heard the same song twice, so... Yea.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted September 12, 2002 play pantera chris... pantera 2 hours straight... what if some one requested pantera chris?
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted September 12, 2002 Die. And if someone requests Pantera, I will give a disclaimer before the song saying "This song was requested, and does not in any way represent the musical tastes of the employees here at 88.1 the Edge. As a matter of fact, we think it sucks. Here's Pantera, with Cemetary Gates!"
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted September 12, 2002 You guys had radio stations. The only time they played music at my school was crappy pop music. R.B.51-Why don't you use a zany DJ voice.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted September 12, 2002 I love Pantera. And if someone requests Pantera, I will give a disclaimer before the song saying "I absolutely love Pantera. God, I'd love to have all their babies. As a matter of fact, I think I will. Here's Pantera, with Cemetary Gates!" Chris, I never thought I'd see you speak those words. It's good to see you've finally owned up to your destiny.

Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted September 13, 2002 Oh, and put in some Strapping Young Lad and MurderDolls as well...Laz has taken a liking to the MurderDolls I was flipping through Metal Edge while picking some stuff up at the record store, and stumbled across a Murderdolls interview, wherein ME asked one of the guys (Tripp, I think) the following question: ME: So, you guys got together. It's pretty convenient that you all had the same hair color, huh? Tripp: No, dude! My hair's actually blonde--we dyed it to look the same! ... Brain...cells...melting...
