Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 Is it because im Australian? Is it because i used to mark for the Taker? Or is it just because im not hoss loving fat ass that i don't get what the hell BOOMER SOONER at the end of every Ross Report means? SOMEONE? Please tell me what the heck this guy is talkin' about? Satisfaction lies in your Illusions...
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 It's just a phrase used to describe Oklahoma Sooner fans, I think. Kind like "Cheesheads" for the Green Bay Packers and stuff like that. I could be wrong, though.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 Well, Jim Ross is an Oklahoma graduate. Oklahoma's team name is the Sooners. Maybe Boomer Sooners is some sort of rallying cry like "ROOOOOOOLLLLLL TIIIIIIIIIDEE!"(Alabama), "WWWWAAAAAAAARRRRR EAGLE!!!"(Auburn), or that lame ass tomahawk chop from FSU. Hope that helps.
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 Ohhhhhh an AMERICAN sport thing...well that explains a lot... DIE ROSS DIE Illusion
Guest papacita Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 Well, I don't watch much college football, so I'm not sure, but I think "Boomer Sooner" is the name of the song the Oklahoma band plays...it's also his theme music, I think. I could be wrong
Guest razazteca Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 If I Remember History Correct [/iron Chef Mode] I believe that the Boomer Sooner phrase has to do with the early days when Okahoma land was being given away at cheap rates. The Boomers were the people who made the exodus to get the cheap land at any means possible i.e. cheat to win. The Sooners were just people who showed up early.
Guest creativename Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 Did a search for "boomer sooner" on google and this came up: http://www.ou.edu/visitorcenter/vc_past.htm Barely skimmed it myself, but it appears to answer the question.
