Windows Media Player...

Recommended Posts

Guest papacita

I just downloaded this thing the other day, and I've come to the conclusion that this program is the biggest piece of shit ever invented. It's got ALL of my mp3 playlists out of order and won't allow me to put them in the correct order, and even when I create a new playlist, it STILL unorganizes the list! And not to mention that it occasionally takes a while to load in between playing files. This thing is a piece of shit...is their anyway I can downgrade back to version 8?

Well, both the old-school (mplayer2.exe) and the REALLY old school (mplayer.exe) Media Players remained on my PC when I upgraded to 8, so it's possible that it's still there. Maybe it's mplayer3.exe?

At any rate, you should probably just stick to Winamp for MP3s, and just use WMP for mpgs and avis.

Its in beta anyway, I generally stay away from most beta version software. And its bloated full of crap that I don't need anyway, so I'll probably stick with 8.

I heard that the EULA with Media Player 9 allows Microsoft delete files it doesn't think you have rights to, another reason to avoid it. To go back to 8, if you have Windows ME or XP, try doing a system restore (it should have been created automatically before installing mp9.)

It's best to stick with your current Media Player unless you ABSOLUTELY need the latest one. Even if you have version 6.4, it'll continue to download needed codecs. I had to upgrade to version 7 a couple of weeks ago in order to play some pr0n I downloaded from Kazaa, but until then, pretty much everything ran fine.

Ok...I have XP and apparently, there's no way to revert to WM8 without doing system restore. I'm just wondering, when they say system restore, does this mean that I'll lose all files and programs I've added to my computer since I started using it?

i have WMP 9, and it kept causing all these errors, but then it connected to windows update and now it works fine, to get rid of it you just have to uninstall it from add/remove in the control panels, and if it gets rid of it just re-download the older version again

You would lose anything you've added since whatever restore point you choose.

Doing a System restore will lose your installed programs and some files, but it won't affect most documents, music files and the like.

I did the system restore...one thing I will say about WMP9 is that once they get the bugs worked out, it will be nice.
