Guest Respect The 'Taker

Just thought id post this for all the Gunners fans that didnt see Conan O'Brien when he was commenting on the VMA's...

He called the new Guns N Roses..

'Fatty McGoo and the guys that arn't Slash'

I almost fell of my chair laughing at that, sure its a slap in the face to Axl, but GOOD GOD it was hilarious...

I love you Conan

Who cares? There not even Gn'R anymore(Not that I listend to them in the first place), Axl's just living off the name, and besides all that, the guy's a MAJOR prick. I'm just hoping that when(If?) the new album comes out it bombs big time.

But that's just me.

everyone bashes them so much... but they could be kinda good.

I think what some people are thinking (including myself) is that without Slash and the rest of the originial members this isn't really G n R.

Guns N' Roses *IS* Guns N' Roses, whether YOU recognise them as this or not. Remember that.

At the VMA/MTV, i dont fuckin know, im an Aussie and we have Channel V here, not MTV...ANYWAYS, at the award show, Axl stated that the 'GNR waiting game will continue'. Therefore, don't expect Chinese Democracy to be released anytime soon, i'd say it'll be released around the same time as Metallica's next record, which is scheduled for an early 2003 release. Here's hoping.

Weirdly enough, Master of Puppets & Appetite for Destruction were roughly released around the same time, as were Use Your Illusion & Metallica.

...Might also add that Gunners beat them on both accounts to start with, but im positive Metallica sold more than UYI did. But eh...whats it matter.

Actually, I think he said "Chubby McGee and the guys who aren't Slash."

Although I liked the "It's Axl Rose and his GNR tribute band!" comment better.

I'm sorry, but I just can't respect anyone who would appear on nation TV looking like a huge fucking imbecilic tool, with a fucking chicken bucket on his head.

Were they no longer Guns N Roses when Izzy left too?

No...cause that's retarded.

He owns the name and can call it GNR if he wants too.

Slash has his own band coming with Duff and Sorum.

Maybe they won't suck a big one like Snakepit did.

I've heard exactly 3 songs that are going to be on the Chinese Democracy Album...and I liked them all far better than anything the VH1 metal bands and the fucking Vines have ever done.

In fact...I'd like to go back to pretending that the Vines do not exist.

Has anybody even seen the band play besides that one off performance on the VMAs? I have. I've seen 3 of their concerts and this band is fucking awesome. I listened to the live GnR CD and I watched the new Rio performance and the new band was so much better that it was crazy. Not that I don't love Slash's sound as much as the next guy, but just because these guys are different people doesn't mean that they aren't good or even better. They play the shit out of the old material and most of the new material that I've heard is really really good. I was in the same boat as all the other whiners. "This ain't Guns and Roses! This is just Axl! He's a big poot head!" But I gave the band a chance and they blew me away. I've completely changed my mind. The VMA performance just plain sucked. It was good as a spectical and it was great to see them there but all in all it sucked.

Personally when Steven left and got replaced by Matt Sorum I was already leaning to the "this is completely different now" point of view. When Izzy, the heart and soul of the band, left. I checked out as well. That was NOT Guns and Roses to me anymore. The big band with keyboard players, back up singers and horn sections playing songs like November Rain, Live and Let Die, Estranged and Don't Cry in the middle of a giant stadium was NOT the same band I saw in 1987. Guns and Roses was Axl, Izzy, Slash, Duff and Steven on stage at the Roxy playing Nightrain and setting the world on fire. When they got to be this huge monster and started turning into an Elton John cover band, that was NOT GnR to me. It was still good. It was still great at times. But everything that made them great was gone. The energy that they used to have that made it seem like the whole band could just fall apart at any second was gone. Instead it had turned into this big giant circus that rolled into town with a thousand people. That wasn't GnR to me. So now that there is a whole new band, it doesn't make a whole lot of difference actually. It's just a good rock band and if it takes having some new members to get real music back on MTV and back on my radio then so be it. Bring it on.

I don't see this as a negative. If Slash, Izzy and Duff are starting their new band.....hell, that just means we'll all have TWO kick ass bands now instead of one.

Who is Buckethead anyway? What did he do before this? Solo stuff?

What's wrong with the Vines? Not that I don't like them...I just like to hear you go off. :)

The first time I heard the Vines song on TV I thought STP had a new song.

That was strike one...I hate when bands sound the same.

Then I listened to the lyrics...and it fell into what is really my only other gripe against certain musical acts...

They just repeat lyrics and choruses over and over and over.

HATE HATE HATE

He has a few solo albums out there, and he also toured with Primus as their guitar player. Lately, him, Les Claypool, Bernie Worell, and Brain just recorded a live album under the title Les Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains.
