The Great MUTA

The pants look sort of like Juventud Guererra's old style before he became "The Juice".

Maybe its Juvi and he's here to get an IWGP Jr Title WITHOUT his Tequila Bottle.

It's a toss up between this and "Foolish Orphen Zero Knight" for the "Best LSD-Induced Gimick" award. I'm sure Mutoh is terrified.

Wow it's like the Legion of Doom's "LOD 2000" upgrade as in, "WTF, what is that supposed to be?"

As it's own entity, I can say, IMHO, that I really dig the tights and I sorta like the fishnet top thing to a much lesser degree, but the mask sucks with the rest of the outfit.

I agree, The tight's have a cool color scheme, the bright hair and the top look bad. If they would stay with those tight's and give the guy some face paint matching the colors of those tight's(Or at least get rid of the orange hair.) he may have a good look, it's too goofy as it it right now.

Is it just me or does the guy look black? Maybe is Ahmed Johnson.

No it's the fishnet thing, his hands are light colored. Plus wasn't Ahmed around 400lbs last time he was seen?

The guy looks like a fuckin Jim Henson character. I'm pretty sure I saw him escorting Jennifer Connolly around the Labryinth when I watched it a week ago.....

I really like the look, but why are they associating this with Muta? Probly should have just debuted someone with this look and sod the Muta name.

Also, I think it's Essa Rios. I mean, he can do the moonsault and everything! And he has orange hair!

Now that I see more pics of him his costume doesn't look all that bad, he still shouldn't be called Muta though. I hope he is at least talented.

I actually am starting to like the outfit. The orange hair is a bit much but it matches the "MUTA" writing down the side of his pants. Definitely something different, I'll say that much.

Looking at that picture of him spraying the mist that is a pretty cool looking costume. Wonder who it could be?

From Stuart

"- Having gotten a couple of emails thinking the same as I, I'm confident that the new Great Muta is Shinya Makabe. They have the same body types and are similar heights. One email from Phil said he even recognized the abs from Makabe's excursion in North America and Puerto Rico. Furthermore, for what little this means, Makabe mastered the technique of mist-spitting while away, and "Muta" used mist when atop the turnbuckles yesterday. Makabe is tentatively scheduled to return at the Tokyo Dome on 10/14, but this could be a prelude of sorts if it is indeed him. Also of interest, Muta has already joined the Makai Club, and is either separated from the L.A. Dojo team or they'll join Makai too."

I've read what Stuart said, first on his site, and now here. I looked through a few pics of Makabe and I definitely see how it could be him. One question though, what's with the Great Muta USA name? Do you think it could be an American, possibly Dan Devine (another person I've compared pics of and found it looks very similar) as I've seen many people state elsewhere?

Wow, that's less than impressive. Reminds me of how the Hardyz looked in their old OMEGA get-ups. What's the point of having a new "MUTA" when he looks nothing like the old one?

Maybe I'm the only one in the dark here, but does anyone actually understand what the Makai Club is at this point? I was under the impression it was the name currently being given to the Faux Shooters, but MUTA isn't exactly the definitive MMA character, last I checked, and the Masked guys don't really lend themselves to a "no-nonsense shooters" group, either. I swear, this is all LSD induced. There's no other explanation.

I suppose it's just for the hell since they own the name Great Muta. It's almost like when the WWF served up the fake Diesel and Razor.

The Makai club is a faction led by Yasuda, it features Yasuda, a shooter who's name escapes me right now, MUTA, the two Makai masks (one of whom is rumored to be Junji Hirata), and Kazunari Murakami. The faux shooter faction (which features the Makai club) is led by Kazuyuki Fujita.

Maybe they can have an angle where there are multiple new Muta's running aroung. This new Muta army can attempt a hostile take over of NJ, they can even have new-Muta midgets involved.

When all this new-Muta army NJ takeover begins to happen know that you read it here first.

BTW. I'm not familiar with Shinya Makabe, is he good, is he a young guy with potnetial?

The new "MUTA" looks shit. If they are gonna use the gimmick they might as well have him look similar to the old one.

It sucks.

I actually think its looks pretty cool

Doink gone LSD!

Makabe was a decent junior who was part of a few good sprints that also had Liger and Ohtani in them, but extremely vanilla on his own. He was too bland to be an attraction as a junior, so they had him bulk up to be a heavy, and apparently this is his cure for blandness. So far, I'll take "Just Shinya Makabe" over this incarnation.

why is it that when something is differnt it sucks? It's not the old muta so people bitch? Big deal. They take some fundamentals and ahve fun creating a new identity. Do you really want to be watching wrestling in the 21st century that's nothing more than a rehash of a character almost 20 years old? Might as well bring back the NWO for one last run, now wouldn't that be stupid?

Personally I really dig the new evolution. Course, this is coming from a LSD baby too.
