Torrie: So I threw up a bunch, got skinny, and joined WCW, then the WWF.

Mean Gene: Thank you Torrie. Now back to Bischoff who will actually entertain you.

Memories...

Pretty good Confidential this week. I liked the WCW Title segment, and the rest was just blah. Next week could be intresting...with Angle training and all.

Mick Foley!!!! I miss him bad :(

This week was pretty good. The Torrie Wilson segment didn't piss me off as much as it did to most of you guys, but that "magician" guy was just so fucking stupid.

I suppose the Torrie segment wasn't that bad...it was just a fluff piece, so I don't really care.

LPYC - FF7 rocks. So yeah, it makes sense that you wouldn't want to stop. First time through for you?

I only caught the first segment (World title history) but a few things struck me as...you know...bullshit.

1. A note to the Big Show:

No matter how many times you come on Confidential and say you beat Hogan for the title...won't change the fact that you won it from Flair.

You never won the title from Hogan...and you are not a 2 time WCW champion.

It was an angle to get the belt off of Hogan (cause God knows he wouldn't just drop it in the ring) so that they could put it up for the first World War 3, and Hogan could go on vacation again.

2. When WCW ceased their association with the NWA in 1991 and dubbed the title the WCW title, the NWA took the belt and the lineage away from them and carried on on their own. The "World" title that HHH has dates back in lineage to 1991.

The NWA stuff they covered is under the lineage of the belt currently held by The Truth in TNA. that goes back to 1948, when Lou Thesz became the first NWA champion under the new collective of territories known as the...NWA.

Everything before that (Hackenschmidt in 1904 on till 1948) is filled with a list of names that were at some point listed as being champion of the world in one form or another...and can't really be attributed to any title, although it has sometimes been given to the NWA title as well...since what the NWA did could be seen as fixing the shattered "world" title into one...namely Thesz.

Either way...it doesn't fit under the WCW title in any way after they pulled out of the NWA.

Other than that...memories are nice

Actually the WCW title was created for the NWA champ. Ric Flair was named the first WCW champion when he was NWA champ. Then when Flair left WCW for the WWF the WCW title stuck around but Flair was stripped of the NWA title by the NWA. When flair came back he won the WCW title from Vader. The NWA title floated around WCW for a little while longer until WCW broke from the NWA in 93. Then the Big Gold Belt was called the International Title. They unified the International and WCW titles, but by that time the NWA title was gone from WCW.

You're still right the WCW title and the NWA title are not the same thing, but the WCW title I guess you could say sprouted from the NWA title in a way.

I'm suprised they made no mention of 6-time "world champion" Lou Thesz or one of the three men responsible for modern professional wrestling as we know it: 3 time champion Ed "Strangler" Lewis. Then again, maybe it isn't so suprising seeing as Lou disliked both Vince and his Father and he was a protege of the Strangler. A lot of love for Buddy Rogers though, which is nice, but Buddy only had one reign as "world champion" which was a fairly short reign for the time period. Kiniski got a lot of props too, while the Funks and Jack Brisco got small snippets. I think they should've gotten a little bit more props then they did. They were great world champions. Even though i'm nitpicking, I still enjoyed it. It's always nice to take a look at the past.

If they wanted to get technical about it...

I suppose the peice aired in good faith as the people they showed were all actually recognized "World" champions.

At the time when the WCW title was created, it took over as the recognized "World" championship of that company...a distinction which the NWA title has never regained.

However, when they start talking about lineages back to 1904 or even 1948, they are pulling your chain.

HEY! Velocity KICKED ASS!

Kidman vs. Orton is now a feud that I actually want to see Orton in!

Funaki keeps stepping closer and closer into godliness.

D'ya think they were all told to pimp out Buddy Rogers?

That World Champsionship bit was very cool, but it was wierd how they pretty much left out the WWF Championship and made there former competition's World Championship seem more meaningful.

Why was everybody so down on DDP's title reign? Booker didn't look happy to talk about it, and Flair didn't give him much credit either. Was it because he was friends with Bischoff?

Yeah...a lot of people felt he never would have been anything if it wasn't for Bischoff...though he did deserve it.
