Guest MrRant Report post Posted September 15, 2002 This deals mainly with sports games. I play Madden 2K2 (I am getting 2K3 soon...very soon.) and I play on All-Pro so that way I have you know... competition. Now I take the losses as they come and will admit to being blown out once or twice because I have lost someone to injury or something. However I have a friend that if it seems like he is losing will just quit and MUST go undefeated and I think this takes away from the game because I have won the Super Bowl going 9-7 before and it was a challenge coming back from 0-3. Guest treble charged Report post Posted September 15, 2002 I used to reset when I was younger, but then I realized that going undefeated through a season isn't all that fun. I prefer being in a tight division race, whether it's football, baseball, or hockey, as it is more like a real-life scenario, as no one has ever gone 162-0 in Major League Baseball. Guest Grenouille Report post Posted September 15, 2002 I'm in the same boat as treble, I would reset when I was younger. I hadn't cheated to win a game until recently playing the SuperBowl in Madden 2003. Tom Brady, Ty Law, Antowain Smith, and Troy Brown were injured by the end of the 3rd quarter. In an effort to win the Bowl, I used any Madden card possible. With the help of the unlimited TO card I was able to beat the Rams.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted September 15, 2002 In a baseball game, I end up simulating about 3/4 of the season, only playing when I need a win. In hockey, I play against all the teams I hate, or are good, and allow myself to get beaten by the Jerichos of the game. Don't play football/basketball games. Wrestling games, I throw/punt controllers, attack my opponents (when playing real people) and I'll shut the game off if I lose to Undertaker/Rock/HHH etc. Other than that, I'm pretty calm. Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted September 15, 2002 I never reset anymore these days. I used to back when I lost kind of regularly. Now losing a game doesnt matter because I don't do it that often.
Guest Bricks Report post Posted September 15, 2002 Before I did. Like this time on NBA Live when I was 4 wins away from an undefeated season and lost, I just went crazy, swore up and down and replayed the game so I could win. Now, if I lose, hey I lose. And going undefeated would be me actually earning it instead of making it my way.
Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted September 15, 2002 I largely simulate through most of the season games in sports games I play. My main interest is building my team and making them successful. I never try for an undefeated season anymore, I will try to win enough to not have to resign though because I do not want my vision ruined halfway through. As for actual games, it depends. Like sometimes I REALLY do not feel like playing a game, like the other day when I faced the Eagles in the Super Bowl. My starting QB was injured, and my team was playing sluggishly, so I just said, "Screw this!", quit, and simulated the loss. Usually, if the games is like basketball or something and is shorter, I usually will play it out because the game is like 20 minutes anyway or something. Football, I am usually rather leery since, if I lose, I lose a good 45 minutes of my time, and I have to watch their offense which is often akin to watching paint dry. Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted September 15, 2002 I do when I realize that almost every fricken play I do results in a 10 yard holding penelty.
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted September 15, 2002 As for resetting the game (or re-loading it)it happens only when I'm simulating NCAA Football 2K3...a #5 ranked team in Hawaii shouldn't be losing to San Jose State, ranked last in the ENTIRE NATION...WITH A FRICKEN BCS BID ON THE LINE! <deep breath>..... Guest Leena Report post Posted September 15, 2002 I reset everytime I lose a point in Sega Tennis 2K2. The only goal for me in tennis games is quintessential mastery because they're all so damn easy (except games like Tennis Masters Series, which cheat, and suck). I rarely play football games. They get boring fast playing against the computer, and it's only fun for a while with friends. I love football, but it just don't work for video games. In other sports games like NHL, NBA, I don't reset. First off, it takes too much time to do that, and it takes away from the game.
Guest The Superstar Report post Posted September 15, 2002 Yeah, I used to. Although when I was playing Smackdown! 2 against my friend, I was beating him so badly as Angle (he was Austin) he started crying and threw the controller on the playstation, shutting it off. Seeing as this kid is about 250 lbs, it was pretty funny
Guest papacita Report post Posted September 15, 2002 The main sports game I play is NBA Live, which I rarely lose at anyway. The only time I ever reset the game was when I simmed a game that I didn't feel like playing and lost, but I'll admit to cheating when I was younger. What I would do is if I was losing and it got to the 4th quarter, I'd change the rules to arcade style, hack the hell outta the other team and get a bunch of easy steals for the win. The last time I did this was in July when I was getting blown out in the All Star game, but I forgot to save the game, replayed it and won legitimately. I never try for an undefeated season anymore, I will try to win enough to not have to resign though because I do not want my vision ruined halfway through. That's how i am. I get more enjoyment out of being a gm then i do being coach. However i still usually play at least two regular season games and all of the preseason games. I don't reset unless it's an very important game and something happens that shouldn't happen. If it's a loss and it was a game that played like it should then i won't reset no matter what. Like in the last game i played. The week before i had totally dominated Patriots with Cleveland in round two of the playoffs. Then in the divisional game Indy had fairly beaten me so i accepted the lose and proceeded to the off season.
Guest crandamaniac Report post Posted September 15, 2002 I don't reset my games, but coincidentally, when I'm losing, the power to my PS2 seems to go off and come back on. Stupid power surges!
Guest evilhomer Report post Posted September 17, 2002 Only if the game is bullshitting me and really pisses me off. What I mean by that is if I've got 50 shots on the backup goalie of some shitting team and he's working a shutout, then my opponent scores a goal from the centre ice on their 5th shot. Guest DrTom Report post Posted September 17, 2002 Even when I was younger, I would rarely do it. Now I don't do it at all. I take my lumps in stride, and even though I usually sit in front of the screen and curse like a sailor, I don't reset it. There are times I'll sim to the end (if that option is available), but that's it. In football, I generally play all the games. It's a short enough season that sixteen games isn't too much of a burden. I do enjoy the GM aspect more than the playing aspect, though, so my roommate and I usually do dueling franchises in Madden, where we sim the games and see who wins the Super Bowl first. In baseball, I probably play one game per week of my team's schedule. I also try to play one game in every road ballpark, but I'm perfectly happy to simulate 3/4 or more of a baseball season and just be the GM.
Guest kingkamala Report post Posted September 17, 2002 i don't play MANY sports games, but when i do, it's usually NFL2k1 or NBA2k1 so i never lose muhahahahamuhaha... no i really don't
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted September 17, 2002 Only if I am playing a friend. He's up by fifteen, three seconds to go, whoops, finger slipped a couple of times.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted September 17, 2002 I sim 9 or so regular season Madden '03 games per season. And if I lose a game simming in which 1/2 my team got injured I do hit the reset button. In addition if I lose more than half my simmed games I tend to reset, especially if the opponent is lower-rated and has lots o' injuries. (Currently I'm 5-3 with 4 simmed games/4 played. Two of my losses came simmed for those keeping score at home.) When I play a game I don't reset 99 percent of the time. Only when 3+ players of mine with injury ratings 90 or over suddenly get broken bones, ruptured disks or torn tendons. Damn PS2 isn't going to hold me down... (Oh, I forgot *hence the edit* whenever playing a human opponent, if the game's out of hand defeat is usually conceeded -- by them, of course -- and the reset button is pushed)
Guest JHawk Report post Posted September 17, 2002 Only when I'm getting really really screwed. Like when any positive rush is a 10-yard penalty. Or when I'm up by 13 with 15 seconds left and it's 80-yard TD pass, recovered onside kick, 45-yard TD pass when the guy gets knocked out of bounds at the three (yes, this happened to me in Madden 2003). But generally, no. I don't mind being 7-3 like my Browns are now (even when one of those losses was the aforementioned up by 13 scenario).
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted September 17, 2002 I feel you bro, I lost a game last night in which the other team returned the opening kickoff for a TD. I then came back and built a 13-point lead only to see it vanish in the 4th. C'est la vie...
