Benoit vs Angle @ Unforgiven

Ok, this match is starting to confuse the hell out of me. Benoit is a heel. Angle is a heel. Somebody needs to come out of this match with the seeds planted for a face turn. Angle is due for one soon, as he needs to get into super-face mode to face off against Lesnar at WrestleMania. BUT, right now, Angle is being a heel. He's cutting heel promos, doing heel things (talking shit on Benoit behind his back) and so on. This makes no sense really. Benoit is kinda the face by default here. BUT, there is an x-factor (not X-Pac) thrown into all of this.

Smackdown, October 15th, Air Canada Centre, Toronto.

I'm going, and come hell or high water, it is my #1 goal to loose my voice cheering for Benoit. I suspect that many others will do the same, as Benoit has not wrestled in Toronto since a WWE house show in early 2001. Benoit cannot and will not be a heel there. It just won't be done.

So, who comes out of No Mercy the heel? Benoit? He'll just be over as a face huge two weeks later. Angle? He's doing heel things right now and shows no signs of babyface seeds being planted.

Here's what I'd do: Have the match at Unforgiven be the usual Benoit vs Angle gold, mad reversals and submissions and whatnot. The end comes when Benoit is knocked out on the floor and Angle alone in the ring. The Unamericans run down and beat the shit out of Angle, culminating in a big boot from Test that knocks Angle out cold. Benoit slides in, totally oblivious to what happened and locks in the crossface. Of course, Angle is unconcious so he can't tap. The ref raises Anges arm three times and gives the match to Benoit.

The next night on RAW, have the Unamericans backstage celebrating their victory over the "American Hero" when a door near them bursts open and Angle runs, going apeshit and getting a few shots in before security drags him off. Bischoff is livid, talking about how there's " No way I'll let Smackdown guys attack my guys."

Thursday night on Smackdown, Angle is still livid, going nuts on Steph and demanding that he be drafted to RAW to get his revenge against the Unamericans. Steph says no way, until Bischoff shows up in a limo with the Unamericans, ready to kick Angles ass. Angle shows up, with Benoit, Cena, Rey and others lurking in the background and ready to fight. They almost get it on, until Steph interferes. She yells at them to leave, so they do. Before they do, they look at Benoit and smile, prompting everybody to believe that Benoit is a spy for the Unamericans. They can have the rest of the show with everybody, including Eddy G giving Benoit the cold shoulder.

Finally, on RAW, Bischoff calls Steph up and proposes an idea: Angle fights in a handicap match against Test, Storm and Christian on Smackdown. If he wins, he gets to jump ship to RAW. He looses, then....oh shit, I dunno. Something bad happens to Angle. You get the point. Steph agrees. On Smackdown, Angle is fighting hard but getting his ass whopped, only to be saved by the most unlikely people.....Chris Benoit. Benoit takes out Storm and Christian to a huge pop while Angle makes Test tap to the Anglelock. Benoit and Angle stare each other down in the middle of the ring, shake hands and leave each other.

There ya have it.

This works for a number of reasons

#1- Gets Angle face and ready for Lesnar.

#2- Plants the seeds for a Benoit turn, leading to a possible feud with Eddy after he turns on Benoit

#3- Gives RAW a major star, as HHH and RVD are the only ones they have right now. Smackdown has Edge, Lesnar, Taker and Angle. RAW is in dire need of somebody like Angle.

I realize this one was long, but thanks for reading.

I could see it now...

Angle: "TRIPLE H! You never deserved that title! Let's fight for it tonight!"

::5 minute squash with no heat, guess who wins::

I realize that the major qualm in all of this is Angle going to RAW, but unless the Unamericans move to Smackdown, it has to happen. Not to mention that RAW is lacking in star power, as is evidenced by the 7 or so segments feat. HHH we regularly see.

I mean, does anybody else disagree that Angle needs to be the one to kill the Unamericans angle? The only other person I can see doing it would be Hogan, but he's on the outs and wouldn't be believeable against 3 young guys (and Regal too.) Two things need to happen in the future that are vital for both the Unamerican angle and Angles subsequent face turn.

- Jericho becomes an Unamerican, thus completing the group and giving it the star power needed. I don't care how much the WWE puts Regal over as the leader, it has to be Jericho.

- Angle beats Jericho 1-2-3 in the middle of the ring in a PPV before WrestleMania, killing the Unamerican angle.

While I agree with AS that I'd rather not see Angle on RAW, that's a very interesting and compelling storyline, and due to the logical twists and turns in it, it's something that beats out 90% of any current storylines going on right now.

*sniffs* Thank you.....thank you all so much. It is a testament to this great message board that a guy who once devoted a thread to Bradshaw looking funny at Chris Harvard could win your hearts!

Seriouslly, I thought it over before. I was thinking they may do what I said they'd do with Benoit, only with Edge. Like when the Unamericans were on SD, have Christian smile at Edge all the time and shit. That way, when Edge turned his back on them, it could mean more.

Of course, this goes back to my theory of "Edge should have turned on Hogan at Vengence and joined the Unamericans", but I'll save that for another day.
