Guest wwF1587 Report post Posted September 15, 2002 Well, the RAW preview is up and it states that Bischoff will "shock the world" again. Rumors have it that RAW could be renamed to Nitro. Wouldnt suprise me one bit. I think its kinda stupid though, I mean WCW is dead... why try to recreate it? This whole RAW/SMACKDOWN rivarly sucks and making it Nitro/SD! wont help. If Bischoff does that this monday....how would you react?
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted September 15, 2002 If this were to happen, it would mean that Bischoff gets significant mic time. So I would be very very happy.
Guest TheRockIsTheEuropeanChampion Report post Posted September 15, 2002 I'd enjoy it a lot, actually. Especially if they go back to the classic Nitro of 1996.

Guest papacita Report post Posted September 15, 2002 If Raw changes to Nitro, I will be pissed.
Guest Ram Report post Posted September 15, 2002 I'd mark out, and then see not much of a difference.
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted September 15, 2002 If they make it Nitro, they have to go all out and make it Nitro. Just calling it Nitro with the RAW stage, announcers, music, and stuff won't cut it. They need to start recruiting the guys we remember from WCW that are feasible to pick up, guys like La Parka, Smiley, and so forth. And Bischoff would need to sign the cruiserweight division to Nitro away from SmackDown and send the hosses to Thursday. If I get true Nitro with some sort of team like Tony/Hudson/DDP and the '95-'99 theme song, and everythign else we miss about Nitro, then I'll be very happy and the war will start getting fun. If they just say it's Nitro and I still hear Lawler talking during a Bubba Ray Dudley match, well, they fucked up.

Well, if they brought in La Parka, I would flip the fuck out, regardless of what they call the show. The thing with getting rid of the announcers...I wouldn't mind, since I actually really miss Tony. But where would JR and Lawler go? Them going to Smackdown is a bad idea, in that Michael Cole, love him or hate him, is the future voice of WWE. And honestly, him and Tazz really aren't that bad anymore...the way they called the Angle/Mysterio match last Thursday was quite good. Plus, I don't think the marks would enjoy/appreciate the new guys at all. I'd like it if they stole the cruisers, but what would be left for Smackdown? They've spent the last few months making Smackdown the "wrestling" show, whereas Raw is more "Sports Entertainment". I think that's retarded, since Raw should have been the wrestling show from the start, but there's no point in hitting the reset button now. I think the most we'll get is a name change and maybe a set change...that's it. If they added Stevie Ray as the third commentator though...it's mark out time. Actually, adding any WCW guy (Tony, Hudson, whoever) as a third commentator could be good, and help give it more of that Nitro feeling.

Tazz sucks, it's a stupid name for a commentator. It'd be like watching Monday Night Football and the announce team was Al Michaels, John Madden, and Gurm. Who the fuck is Gurm, and why is he commentating a football game? I'd almost prefer Pete Senerchia over "Tazz."
Guest RicFlairGlory Report post Posted September 15, 2002 God damnit, stop living in the fucking past. Its WWE RAW, shocking the world means beating up more HLA people
Guest razazteca Report post Posted September 15, 2002 Tony Schiavonie is just as bad as King when it comes to calling a match, but instead of marking out for women, Tony would shrill the ME in the case of WWE it would probably be HHH instead of Hogan. Do you really want to see Tony shrill HHH during a Regal or Booker T match? The 3 man announcing team is the essense of Nitro, can't wait for the team of Dusty Rhodes, Scott Hudson, and DDP. Or they could change the announcing teams for each hour. Rhodes & Hudson hour 1 and JR & Cyrus for hour 2. Its clubberin time
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted September 15, 2002 Tony is about as Bad as Coach or Cole is, he is the GRAND SHILL MASTA He would flat out ignore matches in order to talk about his God Flair or the upcoming Main Event to a PPV that would be weeks away. and would not want to be interupted by the others who DARE try to call the match.
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted September 15, 2002 He sucks when he has to shill but he's been good on occasion and he is, after all, the voice of WCW.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2002 God I hated that set I loved that set. With those metal WCW signs on either side. It was simple yet cool.
Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted September 15, 2002 You're crazy if you really think the WcW set was better then Raw's. Only thing I would change is getting rid of the Ramp. That way the guys can fight outside the ring more.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2002 When did I say I thought it was better than RAW's? I liked the simplicity of the old WCW Nitro set. The current RAW set I don't like cause of those odd shaped things on the side and the screen always looks off center cause of the shape.
Guest Brian Report post Posted September 15, 2002 Tazz is sadly the best main show announcer they have. If the WWE wanted him to be a heel it'd be much better, but he generally keeps Cole on track and gives significance to a lot of the matches, moves, and wrestlers. Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted September 15, 2002 The basic idea of the RAW set has been in place since '97 they just keep tweaking it more and more, the best version was the one before the split, I hate this one.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2002 My favorite RAW entrance was the Big Red RAW letters with the screen in the middle. I have a thing for simple entrances.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted September 16, 2002 I share the setiments of others when say, If this is nothing more than a NAME CHANGE, then please DON'T DO IT. Yet if they actually intend of FOR ONCE having an actual brand DIFFERENCE, then by god, IT IS ABOUT TIME
Guest BlackRainbow1025 Report post Posted September 16, 2002 Leave it as RAW. Nitro's set was so crappy, the announcers were just as bad, if not worse than the current ones (except for the past two weeks of Lawler). They would NEVER bring over Norman Smiley or La Parka or anyone like that, they already have enough guys that get absolutely no TV time. Does making it Nitro mean it's 3 hours now? Lord help us all. Guest DARRYLXWF Report post Posted September 16, 2002 If they were to change the set, there's no law saying that it has to be an old WCW set. They could either modernise it to accompany a large screen, or just change it to a completely new one. Still, I think the set should be the least of anyone's worries.
Guest BlackRainbow1025 Report post Posted September 16, 2002 The set isn't my worry. It's the fact that they'd be changing the name for what reason? It definitely wouldn't bring in more fans. I think it'd confuse more people than anything. I'm sure there are more than a few WWE fans that have no clue what Nitro is or was. Please, the marks are confused enough and apparently are losing interest. Don't make it worse by changing names on them.

Guest DJ Jeff Report post Posted September 16, 2002 Since changing RAW to Nitro wouldn't make much sense, you can pretty much bet that it will happen. To be honest, ever since Bischoff came to the WWE, I always wanted him to just flat out rename RAW to Nitro, but WWE Nitro. The set could still be the same, just everything that says RAW, says Nitro. This could eventually lead to the return of WCW, which wouldn't be that bad to see.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted September 16, 2002 Im betting the huge surprise is that Bischoff will have a sports ticker with updates of the football game on the bottom of the screen. That would kinda rule, sort of..
Guest DARRYLXWF Report post Posted September 16, 2002 Changing Raw to Nitro makes no sense How about the fact that Raw DEFEATED Nitro in the rating wars (Nitro being Bischoff's creation), and Bischoff wants the chance to get revenge? I'm not saying that it SHOULD happen, but if they go ahead with it, it would still make perfect sense, regardless whether people want it to happen or not.
