The only way rock stardom led to his death was because it gave him the funds to buy heroin. The fact he was terribly ill with a stomach affliction, had an addicition he knew he couldn't beat, had a wife and band that said they were going to leave him, a miserable childhood, and a genuine distaste for everyone Courtney told him to. His thoughts of suicide originated when he was a pre teen. It is my opinion that he would have died without rock stardom. it is just sad and unfortunate we all had to witness it. In no way to I condone what Cobain did, but I can't help but respect his musical legacy. No other rock band, besides the Beatles, overcame America and changed it so rapidly. His complex personality only added fuel to the fire. He had a face that a million words couldn't describe. You knew something was going on there - well everyone knew drugs - but there was something deeper. His lyrics intriguied millions of kids throughout the world. They became his disciples. As some committed suicide weeks or months after he had. Death only sensationalized Cobain as a great and wickedly tormented soul - but all articles written about him before his death hinted at his ultimate demise. Cobain as a person was questionable, but his popularity speaks volumes. When you say John Lennon, Elvin Presley, or even Jim Morrison - you have to think Kurt Cobain. All people who became greater in death - and could not handle their fame, like Cobain. So if you critisize Cobain, you'll have to do the same of all of your other stars. Lennon included. Even if he wouldn't have been assassinated, his heroin addiction would have caughten up to him sooner or later. Presley and Morrison killed themselves for all intents and purposes.
