Zorin Industries Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 What is one film you think that every body should see at least once in their life? One of my favourite films is Cross of Iron, its a war film about the Germany retreat from Crimea in 1943. Its different from most war films because its concentrates on the Germans and shows the feelings of the ordinary men in the trenches, and portrays most of the German forces in a sympathtic light. Its quite simply one of the best anti-war movies ever made, the sense of futility as these men fight and die is overwhelming, thanks in part to the great cast (James Coburn, Maximillen Schnell, James Mason to name a few) In fact as Sgt. Stenier this is probably James Coburns best performance. The last scene where the the Russians overrun the HQ as Stenier laughs at the carnage around him is simply brilliant. Does anyone else have a film they think everyone should see?

Guest DARRYLXWF Posted September 17, 2002 Report Posted September 17, 2002 Everyone needs to watch Fight Club. Shit, I forgot about that one. I agree 100%
Guest Mattdotcom Posted September 17, 2002 Report Posted September 17, 2002 Everyone needs to see Citizen Kane, especially those friends of yours that think Freddie Prinze Jr. movies are great and fears watching B&W movies. Everyone needs to see A Face in the Crowd, just to see how old movies can be relevant today and to see how evil Andy Griffith can be. Everyone needs to see Halloween, just to see how real horror movies aren't about a hip soundtrack and the mystery of who the killer is. Everyone needs to see Fight Club, just to see that Brad Pitt isn't a pretty boy actor and to see a great modern movie. Everyone needs to see Evil Dead 2, because it fucking rocks. Everyone needs to see Goldfinger, just to see what action movies should be. Everyone needs to see Monty Python and the Holy Grail, just to see what a comedy is. Basically, the majority of people you know are ignorant to film. Sure, they love movies, so do I. But I have friends that won't watch Clerks because it is in black-and-white. Help your friends, folks. Help them think outside the New Releases section.
Guest godthedog Posted September 17, 2002 Report Posted September 17, 2002 to see what a movie is capable of doing, i think everyone should see...damn this is tough...i'd say 'breathless'. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! i crack me up. seriously, um...i guess 'the godfather'. kinda like 'citizen kane', but not as dated and has a broader appeal. i was trying to think of an art film i could point to and say "THIS is film", but i can't think of any. can anybody else? to actually learn something about their lives and the world, everyone should see 'schindler's list'. everyone. it best sums up all the good and bad things we as people have the capacity for.

Guest Sassquatch Posted September 17, 2002 Report Posted September 17, 2002 Blade Runner - THIS is the best portrayal of what the future of the Earth could look like IMO. Glory - Denzel Washington. Morgan Freeman. Matthew Broderick. Nuff said. Superman - The greatest comic book to movie adaptation I have ever seen.
Guest The Notorious CRD Posted September 17, 2002 Report Posted September 17, 2002 American History X: If ever a movie portrayed how ugly hate really is, this is it.
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted September 17, 2002 Report Posted September 17, 2002 The Salton Sea. I just watched it a couple days ago and DAMN that movie is well written and acted. Kilmer is freakin fantabulous in it. Also, I know it's corny but......Lord of The Rings. If I had to show my grandkids one movie that was all about "magic", it would be that one.
