Greatest match ever/Favorite match ever

Recommended Posts

Guest Midnight Express83

What do you think is the Greatest match ever? What is your favorite match ever?

I putting both in here because people can't seperate the two. So state both.

My favorite match ever is Wargames 92 Book just perfect in my opinion.

Greatest match ever is a toss up. Flair/Steamboat Wrestlewar 89 is the greatest North American match ever. ButKawada vs Misawa 6/3/94(after seeing it this week that match rocks and I take back most of my opinions on AJ heavies) was the best Puro match ever. Both are really good so this week will be Flair and Steamboat.

Wow! I'am so glad you liked it. Did you get all the backstory and meanings of the moves, or did you just enjoy it from a workrate perspective?

From a workrate perspective it's probably thier weakest pre97 match, but from a storytelling perspective it's the most complex match ever attempted. The sleeper to backdrop spot at the beginning is probably one of the deepest and most symbolic sequences in wrestling history. Kawada was attempting Jumbo's Sleeperhold, only for Misawa to counter it with Jumbo's Backdrop. Kawada is still struggling to be the Man, while Misawa has become the Man. Ingenious.

My fav. match ever(or for this week) is probably Kawada/Taue vs. Misawa/Kobashi 12/93. Mostly because it features the greatest performance from my fav. wreslter, Kawada.

Misawa Vs Kawada (6/3/94) or one of the big AJPW Tag matches are the best.

My favorite is Steamboat/Flair from WrestleWar or Bret Vs Owen, from WM X.

im excited to see this. i have a custom comp coming in the mail that has misawa vs kawada (6-3-94) on it. im the first to admit that i dont know too much about puro with only about 4 or 5 tapes of japanese wrestling in my entire collection. so i guess i got lucky and picked the right match to be put on the comp. i heard they had some great matches so after this im "fired up" (thanx tommy rich) to see this match.

Greatest: Either Misawa/Kawada that everyone loves, or Misawa/Kobashi from 1/97 that 7 or 8 fewer people love.

Favorite: Bret/Austin from 96 Survivor Series.

It's a cliché, but Flair vs. Steamboat from WrestleWar remains one of my most favorite classics all these years later.

I have 2 favorite matches ever, and they are Bret vs. Owen at Wrestlemania X (another clichéd pick, but oh well) and Austin vs. Triple H at No Way Out 2K1.

Favorite match: Bret Hart vs. the British Bulldog from Summer Slam 92.

I had just recently gotten into wrestling and those guys were my faves. Before I even knew what a good match looked like, they put on a classic bout full of drama and the atmosphere was at a fever pitch all the way through the 25-minute battle.

The post-match make up and celebration with Diana Hart with the fireworks ... classic.

Davey may have only been a transitional champ, but that has to be one of the greatest WWF/E moments ever.

And despite what's been said about the match, I doubt any one person can pull off such a classic match with little or no help from the other individual. I think Davey was very underrated for his size - especially during this time.
