Most good indy wrestlers are fucked

I've been watching the CZW Best of the Best tapes, Ring of Honor and the ECWA Super 8 tournament I ordered, and a couple of thoughts popped into my head.

 

1. AJ Styles, Low Ki, Trent Acid, Donovan Morgan, Spanky, Jody Fleisch, Johnny Kashmere and Jonny Storm are DAMN good wrestlers.

 

2. We'll never EVER see these guys in a national spotlight, and that's really sad.

 

WWE is still stuck in the same formula, relying on the Hosses and established style and superstars. Meanwhile, the indys are home to much smaller, much less muscular, much faster, highspot-oriented workers. While they are a refreshing alternative for the viewer, it sucks for the wrestlers. Will we ever see a guy like CM Punk or Chris Daniels in WWE? Probably not, and these guys work their balls off to perfect a variety of styles. Meanwhile, WWE handpicks their own guys from their own farm system, which mark my words will slowly but surely kill indy wrestling.

 

The best these guys can hope for is NWATNA, a group just barely turning a profit with a maximum exposure of 25,000-30,000 people.

 

Say what you will about WCW, but they picked up everybody and let them cut loose, albeit in curtain jerkers and undercard matches. You'll never see La Parka, El Dandy or a Villano in WWE. If half the cruisers the WWE has now weren't picked up automatically in the WCW purchase, they wouldn't have jobs either.

 

I don't know, I'm just worried about wrestling's future at this point, what do you think?

The WWE will have to adapt and surivive. If the audience gets bored of what they see now, the WWE will be forced to find someone else. And if the WWE gets wind of how there are certain indy wrestlers, such as the ones you mentioned, and others such as C.M. Punk, Chris Hero, Colt Cobana, American and Super Dragon, B-Boy, etc... are popular, the WWE will sign them.

 

If you have talent and a reasonable look, you will attract attention. It is just a matter of directing the attention toward you.

I feel bad they are never going to be in the big spotlight but I love watching them wrestle , especially in person (LowKi, Morgan, and Styles the most)

There will always be a palce for them, but the money they make wont be enough. Thats the sad truth. If NWA keeps going, I think its safe to say they'll eventually get picked up, or a good amount of them will. Drop disco and you can hire 2 guys right there, fire scott hall and add another 6.

 

The WWF doesnt have to adapt to survive, they are rich and vince thinks everything he does is right, so they probably wont try to adapt untill its far to late. Wrestling will always draw ratings, but when vince gets 2.0's hes still gonna go back to the old formula. And they cycle will repeat.

In all fairness, the WWF not WWE used to give guys tryouts on Jakked and dark matches. They dont anymore because of the abundancy their secondary promotions have. If the WWE dropped some of the Hosses from OVW and imported Ki, Styles, Daniels, and CM Punk to fill their spots, they would at least have a chance.

You know the WWF stole ECWs style and called it Attitude(man that smackdown promo was great), if they were smart, they'd steal the x division and call it cruiserweight...oh wait they did that and they keep messing it up...Maybe they'll get it right.

But TNA has all of those guys, except for Punk. They've been used well and highlighted as the bright spot of the company. And the company has done nothing but lose money. Yes, there've been plenty of other problems with TNA such as advertising and coverage, but still. Most smarks will fight me to the death on this one, but what if, just what if, the mainstream wrestling fans DON'T want to see hard-hitting, high-flying action like todays smaller indy workers provide?

But it's so COOL!

 

Anyway, TNA hasn't lost too much money, and there are rumors of a new financial backer. If they can last the 52 weeks on PPV, they'll get a TV deal.

 

And with the falling WWE ratings, who the hell knows what marks want at this point?

You'll never see them in the national spotlight but I'm sure Ki, Morgan, Spanky, American Dragon, Modest etc etc are all happy to be working in Japan 2 weeks a month.
