Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

Andrew is funny dammit. Best Dr. Strangelove referrence EVER.

Anyway.

I think everyone is dying this year except for Buffy, Xander and Willow.

The first episode of the season the first said that we would be going back to the beginning...and in the beginning there were only those 3. And Giles if he lives.

The only problem is that I know they won't kill Dawn because they hate us. Spike, Wood, Anya and the rest of the slayers in training are all going to get theirs.

I could live with that. But Spike dying = uber sad :(

SPOILER

A few weeks ago, I heard Joss was trying to work out a deal with UPN and the WB so that Angel could appear on Buffy - most likely for the final episode. He was given the green light by both companies.

So, maybe, Angel helps stop the end of the world. Then Buffy almost dies and Spike saves her. Before HE dies, she tells him he loves her, right with Angel there. 'Cause Buffy & Angel will always love each other, right? But they know they can never be together(what with his curse and all), so she finally realized that she could have spent her life with Spike, or something.

I was thinking about that today when I was watching Angel's first season.

I have a interesting question, that I haven't seen anyone talk about. What if Angel NEVER left Buffy? How would the story work?

FX rerun today = Buffy & Riley Sex Fest '00 = WRONG

Although it does feature the awesome 'Giles singing and playing guitar in the coffee shop' scene.

Dude, they should make a giles spin-off where he travels from town to town with a guitar on his back fighting evil by day and singin sweet sweet melodies by night.

Yeah, but "Superstar" aired before it...so that kind of makes up for things.

It would be like The Fugitive meets the Incredible Hulk ... only with guitar and british accent.

In my best Comic Book Guy accent "BEST SHOW EVER!"

Since no one answered my question....What do you think the show would be like if Angel never left the show? How would it work out?

Too big of a what-if.

No Riley, no help w/ the initiative, no love affair with spike, glory prop. would have killed him... what does it matter?

If Angel stayed on then the writing would have gone in a completly different direction, and there's no way you could guess where it would be at by now.

Yeah, that makes sense.

But I always hear about how Joss knew what he was going to do with the show from the beginning. How did the Angel spin off thing all happen, just because Buffy was so popular? I just remember reading about it when it happend, but at the time I wasn't a fan so I didn't really give two shits.

Hell, I'd watch a 24 hour real-time network of that.

It better be the final season. I mean, the villains kept getting stronger and stronger and stronger to the point where it just gets a lil silly.

How many more eps. are left?

Partially that. With all the changes Buffy went through in Season 3 (looking to her future, college, etc), Angel had to go. They would never be happy together in the long-term - there would always be the fear of Angel becoming too happy and thus losing his soul ... or he would be holding her back from her making something of herself.

Joss and David Greenwalt saw David Boreanaz as someone that could carry his own show and the character of Angel had a lot of untapped potential. They brought Cordelia along to draw in more Buffy fans, and the rest is history.

Angel Season 1 included cameos from many former Buffy characters - Buffy, Oz, Spike, Wesley, and I suppose you could say Darla. It helped get the show off the ground and it's been good TV since.

Buffy won't die.  She's already died like a dozen times...in this last season alone... (member that time when Andrew accidently killed Buffy and had to go back in time to save her?  Fabulous eps.)

No... and I've seen every Buffy episode since the show was first started.

EDIT: Do you mean the one with the mummified hand?

I don't recall that either - but the mummy hand did rule. I loved the Monty Python 'Dead Parrot' tribute in there.

Oh come on, the eps. where Andrew accidently killed Buffy and had to go back in time to save her was the same eps. where Xander, Willow, and Anya had the three-way everyone had been waiting for...

I can't believe you guys have forgotten that!

Xander: Uh, Hey.

Willow: Hey.

Anya: So are we going to get busy or what?

Xander: Wait wait wait wait wait... I'm a guy, this is a 3 way... Let me savour the moment, ok?

Anya: Whatever, gimme the vodka.

Willow: You better watch it with the vodka Anya, I mean, remember what happened the last time you drank?

Anya: No.

Willow: Exactly.

Xander: Giddy up.

Even though this is the final season, I am sure another spin-off will take place. I still haven't seen all of season 4,5, and 6 so I still have plenty of Buffy to see.

OMG ... speaking of which, tonight's FX rerun had Giles singing 'Freebird'! PURE GOLD!

Wow one of today's FX episodes had Angel clips in the "previously on..." segment.

I caught that myself.

"Previously on Angel ... Angel rightfully tells Buffy off when she comes to LA majorly PMSing ..."

Joss and David Greenwalt saw David Boreanaz as someone that could carry his own show and the character of Angel had a lot of untapped potential. They brought Cordelia along to draw in more Buffy fans, and the rest is history.

On Doug Petrie's commentary on "Bad Girls" he was talking about the fact that they were still unsure about wheither David could carry his own show or not. Well they (Joss, Doug and I forget the other guy, could have been Greenwalt as well) are watching the scene where Baltazar is asking Giles and Wesley what the name of the person who took the amulet was and David Boreanz walks in very dramatically with vamp makeup on in a shot from the floor looking up and says "His name is ANGEL!" and that entrance pretty much sealed the deal for the spin-off.
