Question about Mr. Brown cover for Reservoir Dogs

Recommended Posts

Guest Mikey2Dope

I've heard a rumor that the Mr. Brown(Quentin Tarantino) cover of the Special Edition of Reservoir Dogs is pretty rare. Anyone know if that is true?

I'd say it's probably true. The major chain stores in the states(Best Buy and Circuit City) only have 4 of the covers and Mr. Brown isn't one of them.

Weird. At Fry's Electronics I've seen plenty of Mr Brown's but not a single Mr. White.

I think it is limited edition. Mr. Brown cover is mass-produced-style signed by Tarrentino. Right now it is pretty easy to get, but I think once they go, they are gone, and a regular "Mr. Brown" cover will be replacing it.

I have the Mr. Pink cover, but it wasn't by choice (I honestly didn't care which one I got). It happened to be the only one they had at Target when I decided to buy it.

I have a Mr. Pink, but might buy the limited "autographed" edition of Mr. Brown and just keep it in the plastic.

Nah... I doubt it'll be worth anything, since it doesn't sound like its actually "limited". How much is it "limited" to? It could be "limited" to something like 50,000, which isn't a lot if you think about it, but enough to still make it always pretty easy to find.

But then again, Criterion discs that are only a few years out of print shoot up in price, so who knows? I think they're different though because they're based on the content, which the Mr. Brown disc has nothing to add really.

I would never buy the Brown disc. As much as I like him as a filmmaker, Quentin Tarantino is one of the most annoying people to ever become famous. PLUS he's a shitty actor and he wrecks any scene he appears in. I'm grateful his onscreen contribution to Jackie Brown was limited to a voice on an answering machine. Here's hoping he's nowhere in Kill Bill.

Actually he's playing a 100 year old kung fu master in Kill Bill. Personally I think he's really good. Granted he only plays himself in everything but he's pretty good at it, he's had lots of practice.

He changed hs mind and hired some legendary Kung Fu movie actor to play that role.

I don't think he's going to have a major role in the movie.

Last I heard Chia Hui Liu will play Pai Mei but Tarantino will be the voice. He'll be dubbed in. So since his voice is his annoying part, he'll still be there in some form.

An off topic Mr.Brown question: How the fuck does he die? I've watched the scene over again but I can't find it.

- Car w/ White, Orange and Brown crashes

- Brown says "I'm blind" and Orange tells him "You've just got blood in your eyes"

- White goes off and shoots up the cop car coming around the corner

- Orange is waiting by the car with Brown slumped at the steering wheel. White comes back, asks if he's dead and White and Orange split.

Are we led to believe that Orange shot Brown or something? Because back at the warehouse White says that the cops shot Brown, but I never saw any cops shoot him. The only thing I can think of is that Brown got shot before the car crashed and just died a slow death.

Any help here?

Yep, that's it.

Anywho, QT is too much of a raging egomaniac to ever allow the "Mr. Brown" one to be limited edition. He actually still thinks that he's a good actor and doesn't realize he is the WORST actor there is. Too bad he wouldn't hire a REAL actor to play his role in Pulp Fiction. If he had the movie would have been perfect.

I've never had a problem with Tarantino acting in films. I think he has an odd "presence" on screen. I loved him in From Dusk 'till Dawn.

As for the Mr. Brown cover, which is the one I bought, the Future Shop stores here in Toronto have many copies of that version. Perhaps when all the copies that are available sell out, no more will be produced.

Thanks for the input guys. I bought this the other day and was debating on whether I should open it or throw it in the top of the closet so I'll have to decide that.

Why would you not open it? It's not like it's gonna be worth anything. It's just like all those other things they put out now and CALL a collector's edition. Nothing the studio ever TRIES to make a collector's edition is actually a collectors edition.
