Guest Redhawk Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 One thing I never understood during the baseball strike talk was this idea that for MLB to be on strike on 9/11/02 was going to hurt the game. Why would it have mattered whether or not MLB was on strike on 9/11? Is it because we've bought into the idea that baseball helped "heal" America after 9/11/01? Up here in Washington, a few school districts' teachers have been on strike for a while, and they were still on strike on 9/11. And no one seemed to mind. They were more concerened with why their kids weren't in school than the teachers striking on 9/11. Can anyone explain what the big deal would have been?
Guest alkeiper Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 I'm in agreement. 9/11 really had no connection with baseball, and I don't think it would've made much difference had baseball been played that day. Sportswriters made too much out of it.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 I agree has well. The families of the victims wouldn't of been grieving any more if there wasn't Baseball on 9/11.
