Baseball strike and 9/11

Recommended Posts

Guest Redhawk

One thing I never understood during the baseball strike talk was this idea that for MLB to be on strike on 9/11/02 was going to hurt the game.

Why would it have mattered whether or not MLB was on strike on 9/11? Is it because we've bought into the idea that baseball helped "heal" America after 9/11/01?

Up here in Washington, a few school districts' teachers have been on strike for a while, and they were still on strike on 9/11. And no one seemed to mind. They were more concerened with why their kids weren't in school than the teachers striking on 9/11.

Can anyone explain what the big deal would have been?

I'm in agreement. 9/11 really had no connection with baseball, and I don't think it would've made much difference had baseball been played that day. Sportswriters made too much out of it.

I agree has well. The families of the victims wouldn't of been grieving any more if there wasn't Baseball on 9/11.
