Should the Browns get a real logo?

Do you think that they will create some sort of actual insignia other than the orange helmet to represent the Cleveland Browns because they don't feel they're marketable enough right now?

They're logo should be someone bending over and getting kicked in the ass...

The problem is, what kind of a logo do you give to a team called the "Browns?" Any team where the founder and owner was so much of a megalomanaic that he had to name the team after himself, is not deserving of a logo.

Weren't the Chicago Bears originally the Decatur Staleys?

They will probably get new uniforms to market first make money off of people getting those then come out with a logo so they can have a new marketing coup. The only logo I could imagine them having would be a dog from the dawg pound.

So I will echo Cletus' sentiment

They shouldn't

They will

They should have changed their name after Paul Brown became the owner of the Bengals.

I'm a Browns fan and really wish that they would dsign a logo that they can put on hats and shirts. Because i won't buy most the merchandise because of that damn helmet logo.

I don't want the uniforms changed or the logo incorporated into the uniforms. I just want a logo to replace the damn helmet on merchandise and anything else related to us other than uniforms.

Problem is that they are limited on what they could use.

Possible Logo 1: The Dog

I like the Dog they use for Dawg Pound merchandise and wouldn't mind it minus the words "Dawg Pound".

Possible Logo 2: The Elf

The other one i like is the little Elf dude that they had in the 60's.

They shouldn't -- that turd-ish color suites them just fine...

All I kept hearing about for years was Cleveland's "victory" in maintaining the Browns name, colors and uniforms. Why would they want to change them now? BTW.... that was an out and out gift from Modell to Cleveland. If he really wanted to keep the Browns name, etc, he could have. If the NFL wanted to stop him they would have to do it court. Isnt the NFL's legal record like 0- 7572??

Somewhat off topic, as I'm looking at all these new shitty NHL logos, if they change the Toronto Maple Leafs logo into some sort of new crap, like an over-stylized pencil-scratchy looking leaf with "LEAFZ" spray-painted it or something dumb like that, well then I'll be righteously pissed. The Maple Leafs have the best sports logo in history.

EDIT: The Minnesota North Stars one with the N-Arrow-Star is pretty rockin'. I still see people with North Star shirts and stuff.

The logo so great, that it HAD to be ripped off by scores of teams:

Seriously, the Packers don't have pictures of boxes as their logo or anything. I'd suggest a neat C if Chicago didn't have it already. I'm for what's on Quarterback Club '99, and that's a burnt orange oval.

I believe Chicago had their C before Green Bay had their G. Before everyone, there were...the Chicago Bears.

And because it's so awesome, the Minnesota North Stars.

I never said the Pack was around longer. I just don't see nearly as many C's as I do G's.

EDIT: And their age won't be able to help them when the Pack OWNZ~! them this season.

Well if the Browns do get a logo, I hope it's better than the one the Indian's have.

Chicago Bears

Chicago Cubs

Cincinnati Reds

The SAME SHAPE? Sure the Reds, but the Chicago Cubs C is nowhere near the Bears' C.

As for Green Bay, two immediately come to mind, and I could probably remember more when I think about it:

Georgia Bulldogs

Grambling... whatever they are's.

Ok i fail to see what's so awful about the Indians logo.

I guess what RevEvil doesn't like is that unlike the Redskins or Black Hawks, the Indians have a caricature of a smiling Indian, and it does look rather goofy. However, I in no way support the movement of changing the names of Indian-related teams. They want us to honor our existence, and we do by naming our sports teams after them, and they get mad because we're stereotyping them as violent., or in the case of Cleveland, looking really stupid. Do people of Scandinavian descent, myself included, get upset with the Vikings? Unless they beat Chicago, I don't give a shit about the Vikings. Vikings were strong warriors, and there's a whole lot of Swedes up in the North Star State, thus you honor their legacy by naming what is intended to be a dominant team after them. The Native Americans did engage in brutal fighting with the white man in a desperate attempt to keep their land, thus their strength, perseverance, and cleverness can be exhibited in having a sports team named after them. As for being insulted by being called Indians or Redskins, unfortunately, the misnomer and ethnic slurs are part of the same history, as this is how they were regarded by the settlers. It always annoys me when I hear about Ted Gliding Crow or whoever showing up at some school board meeting and saying "you can't call your team the Warriors with an tomahawk as your logo, that's racist" when it isn't, and then the board buckles under the pressure and it gets changed to something unoffensive like the Wildcats or the Wolves.

I think what it all comes down to is they're trying to get some more money off of us again.

The Browns aren't EVER changing their logo nor should they.

The city of Cleveland would be in an uproar and I don't think Al Learner, who is loved by Cleveland, would want to ruffle any feathers.

Tune in tomorrow to watch The Browns waste The Titties . . . uhh I mean The Titans.

The Redskins Arrow Retro logo sucks, it looks like Florida St., which might be why Spurrier sucked so bad (he had nightmares of Florida St. or something..)

Anyway, since the unofficial mascot for the Browns is a DAWG, I think if they ever do get a new logo, it should be a dog...a cute little puppy dog..lol..

Well a logo wouldn't have to affect anything like the uniforms. They won't ever drastically change thier uniforms so we shouldn't be thinking of a logo that would be used that way.

All they need is a new official logo for team merchandise. It doesn't even need to be an actual new logo, i'd like them to use the Dawg or the little Elf dude.

They can do whatever they want with the Elf as long as it resembles the original.

Then they could name him "Cheetum."
