On most Tuesdays we're lucky if there are a handful of good DVD. There are usually several good movies released every week, but not usually more than 2 or 3 you would really want to buy if you had the money.

 

Well, this Tuesday is one of the most loaded DVD days I can remember.

Look at this list:

Now there has to be something for everybody on that list.

There's 15 titles and I would buy 8 of them on Tuesday if I had the money, as it is I'm only getting 3.

 

 

I'm sure C.H.U.D. will tell us about another 15 movies I forgot to mention.

Well there's some good movies there, but i'm not interested in any of them enough to buy.

 

Unforgiven i guess i may buy if it's cheap during the first week of release.

 

I have the old Cuckoo's Nest DVD so unless the SE is a must own disc i probably won't replace it.

On Wednesday, when I went to buy the 24 box set, I saw the Unforgiven Special Edition at Entertainment Outlet, and I was like, "Huh?? Why didn't I hear about this being released?". Now I know why. Well, time to withdraw some more money.

 

True Romance, Monsoon Wedding & Fast, Cheap & Out of Control are all on my must-buy list.

Actually, I probably won't even mention everything that you listed, because some of the stuff doesn't interest me in the least (Grease, Major League), but I agree this is a decent week. Not as strong as as some previous weeks in the last month, but it looks good. DVD releases have been very good since August.

Has anyone else noticed this pattern about DVDs? It seems like for like 4 months that there's hardly any good DVDs released. Then for two months there's at least 2 or 3 good releases every week then nothing for a few months again.

I have to try to figure out a way to scrap together some money for Heavenly Creatures, True Romance and Swingers. Major League, Stolen Summer, and Unforgiven I'll get from Netflix, but the rest get a "eh" from me too.

I never got into the Beatles movies. Their music is good and all but watching the movies is like watching a episode of The Monkees.

 

And yes I know The Monkees were based off the Beatles.

There's a lot of good movies on there, but Swingers will probably be the only one I buy. I still haven't picked up Jackie Brown nor Pulp Fiction, so I need to get those first.

It really depresses me to see a list of upcoming DVD releases such as this. One reason and one reason only, I live in CANADA.

 

While most others can check out the upcoming releases and say "ok, I'll pick that up Tuesday" or "oh, I cant wait to get (enter particular movie) on Tuesday when it comes out". My fellow Canadians and I have to settle for a waiting period that seems almost insane. I mean, I have yet to see the Hulk STILL Rules DVD in stores around here, and infact I just picked up the Pulp Fiction DVD the other day, since it only came out LAST Tuesday here...

Anyways, as fas as "this week's releases" go, I am eyeing the Swingers Special Edition and the True Romance DVD's....

 

....maybe I'll get them in time for Christmas.

OMG! I can't believe you guys forgot Blood Freak! That's right, the legendary (let me see if I can get this right) anti-drug, pro-Jesus, Turkey monster gore film gets a DVD special edition from Something Weird... tomorrow! That's been on my "must buy" list for months now.

 

As for the rest of the releases... hmmmm... Beatles or food, Beatles or food, Beatles or food. A classic debate. One of them is essential to survival, and the other is food.

My friend got the Swingers dvd and I got True Romance. We were pretty dissapointed with the special features on the Swingers dvd, although we didnt listen to the commentary.

 

The supplemental dvd for True Romance kicks all sorts of ass.

 

*11 deleted scenes that have the option of Tony Scott's commentary. 1 of the deleted scenes is a bath tub scene w/ a topless Patricia Arquette.

*Alternate Ending with the option of commentaries done by either Scott or Tarrantino.

*Interactive behind the scenes featurette.

*Separate commentaries done by Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer, Brad Pitt and Micheal Rapaport. Each talks about their character over all of their scenes. Rapaport's in particular, is hilarious.

 

all in all, well worth the $20.

I was kinda shocked that the Swingers thing was only one disc. Still, having a audio commentary with Faveau and Vaughn is good enough for m.

I picked up Hard Day's Night, True Romance and Unforgiven. I almost got Project Greenlight, but you know gotta draw the line somewhere

Is the True Romance "alternate ending" just the "R" rated ending compared to the "Unrated" ending, or is it totally different? I have seen both the "R" rated ending and the "unrated" ending. I have the original release of True Romance on DVD......I am considering buying the SE, and giving away the version I have to my friend or something.

I am definately gonna pick up True Romance now that I think about it. Swingers is the likely other one I will get. I still need Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown.....argh, I hate getting behind on these matters.
