I guess it came to a head on the Misawa-Kawada thread in General Wrestling folder where Bretthart4ever disagreed with the match and the freaking Puro fans went ape sh*t on him stating that he shouldn't speak if he didnt know the history and that his opionion basically didnt matter. Since when do Puro fans have the ultimate say as to what is good wrestling or not. I have seen some Puro matches and the majority are good but to look down on someone who doesnt feel the same about it as you is just ignorance. Opinions are just that. Opinions, and not fact. Do us all a favor Puro fans and get your heads out of your asses and dont put the rest of the board down if we dont think Kawada-Misawa is the end all of all matches.
Guest Incandenza Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 Eh, I have no problem with "puro elitists" (tm Sean Shannon), though they seem inordinately fond of arguing over as something as insignificant as star ratings. Other than that, they're just more critical of matches for the same reason I'm more critical of music or movies; I search out the more obscure and challenging stuff in those fields just as they do in their's, therefore we all expect a little more from it than the average fan.

Some people (myself included) just thought that there was something pretty special going on in that bingo hall. The WWE and WCW must have too...since WWE stole the attitude, and WCW took guys like Benoi, Eddy, Dean, Rey, Psicosis, Jericho and so on when they made their first name in the US in that little bingo hall.

And they knew when to applaud good wrestling whether or not they liked the guy. Goldberg, Hogan, and Rock marks tend to annoy me. Goldberg marks especially cause their only argument is "He could kick your ass and anyone else's too"

And the biggest draw of all time even they are wrong. And their main point is "Wrestling wouldn't be where it is today without Hogan". Bullshit. They also ignore any year from 1991 through most of 1996 by saying Hogan wasn't used right and that was why wrestling wasn't drawing. Even though for the better part of all those years he was not only the world champ but he main draw. They ignore the fact of all his politics by saying "You think too much into it, you should just enjoy wrestling face value". Goldberg fans are dying off by the millions but their point was" He can really kick anyone's ass" bullshit. ECW fans annoying tone is ECW made Attitude and every spot from ECW was stolen. And that WCW made their stars from ECW. And WWE was trying to kill ECW. And that the fed only went bankrupt because of a poltics. And RVD/Lynn is the greatest fued and matches of all time. Plus New jack is such a bad ass for falling 50659875487547654309653976 feet into a pint of water because he is Hardcore. And Mick Foley owes his career to ECW. And that Taz was a sell out. Puro elites are that NA style is dumb. "Theyaren't real wrestlers and are actors"(said on the smarksboard). That there has been only 2 ***** matches in North America: Bret vs Owen and Flair vs Steamboat. That Misawa is better than Benoit because his moves seem to hurt more(well, he is dropping people on their freaking head). NA wrestling is crap because of matches like Taker vs Brock(Not counting any Tiger Jeet matches are we?). Neo-Mark movement is also a annoying ban of people. Yet that movement died out when they couldn't keep enjoying the crap. There whole smarks analize things too much. Botter is the king of the group. With his bashing of looking into things too much by saying it takes away the fun. Then names his columns on that very process. My favorite line of their thinking. "We fully don't know about backstage so thinking about backstage stuff hurts watching whats on TV. Because all that matters if having entertainment of a match. Not if HHH is hold down Jericho". Which is true, but completely misses the point that politics ruin the TV product. Hogan marks annoy me the most. Because they won't let facts of AUstin out drawing Hogan ride as facts.

Fuck, I was in an AOHell chat one day and one guy was in there pimping that Justin Credible was more talented than Steve Austin, which I find unbelieveably funny. As far as puro fans go, I've never really had a problem with most of the ones I've ever seen or talked to, but there are some who are just as fanatic as most dumbshit ECW fanboys, so I just ignore 'em.

To answer your question briefly and definitely: Because they're geeks. There are some things that it's cool to be an elitist about. Pro wrestling is not one of them.

BINGO! That's what I meant. I had a feud with a ecw mark at another (much crappier) board over ECW. This guy insisted that ECW was the greatest at everything, that everybody ripped ECW off, that Justin Credible should be WWE champ,etc. No matter what you said, no matter how logicaly you put it this guy would not see reason and instead say..."EC FUCKING W roxs!" I hate ECW marks. I liked ECW alot but I hate the marks.
