Guest Brian Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 I don't know. Benoit's always had those little things like snot rockets, little sneers, and the cut throat that was more than enough for me. Sometimes, a little goes a long way. I've started noticing that RVD pauses a lot before he hits his moves and such. Has anyone else picked up on that, that he's taking longer, pausing, or something before he hits his moves?
Guest Brian Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 I don't know...Eddie's delivered some of my favorite promos this year. Angle's funny, but he doesn't always tell it like Eddie does and just bring things full circle and make things feel important.
Guest Smark Hammill Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Hogan and Austin were champions and the ratings were still down, people want to see somebody else new on top, somebody else who's really over. If you want to see Austin and the Orange Goblin as champs go buy yourself some old tapes. That's the rub. There really isn't anyone over enough that would be new to the scene. The one guy that comes to mind would be Angle.
Guest Goodear Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 I don't know. Benoit's always had those little things like snot rockets, little sneers, and the cut throat that was more than enough for me. Sometimes, a little goes a long way. Sneers don't really translate to the live crowd since they're so far away. It's why William Regal's facial expressions don't get pops, even though they are awesome. The snot rockets doesn't really lead to any direct move other than some stomping, and the throat slit has sort of disappeared. It used to always point to the swandive headbutt, and when it did, it drew a really good reaction.
Guest Brian Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 But Austin didn't do much other than flip people off while he was stomping people and yet he's a king of charisma around here. I think the bench mark of charisma is still in the ability to portray a character and feelings in the ring.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 As a heel, Austin had an unmatchable amount of charisma in the ring. He was awesome.
Guest Brian Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Oh I agree. But I was thinking more of his face work.
Guest Goodear Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 But Austin didn't do much other than flip people off while he was stomping people and yet he's a king of charisma around here. I think the bench mark of charisma is still in the ability to portray a character and feelings in the ring. Austin's whole routine was an exercise in charisma! The FU elbow, the way he walked, the way his head would waggle back and forth, the "come on" motions before a clothesline, the whole dealie... Benoit just isn't in the same league. He basically does some sneering and that's about it.
Guest Brian Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Yeah, I guess you're right. bad point. But Benoit still has passable charisma for a main eventer.
LaParkaYourCar Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Yeah Benoit just needs "that thing" it's out there he just needs to find it. Maybe he does need to do more throat cuts followed by swan dives. Personally I love when he yells at his opponent to tap.....it even got the Unforgiven crowd chanting "tap tap tap" so Benoit's got a good start.
Guest humongous2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 I personally think Eddy G. is the best worker in the WWE, he wrestles his ass off, has great charisma and does great promos, his only disadvantage is his height, don't get me wrong Angle and Benoit are good but overall Eddy is the man.
Guest Anglesault Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 Is Eddy even THAT short? he'sover 6 feet right?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 I can't understand a word Eddy says in his promos.
Guest Angle-plex Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 I haven't really liked Eddie since he was in WCW. He bores me more then Benoit for some reason (and I don't even like Benoit that much).
Guest Anglesault Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 That's the funniest part. I love when he rants, then translates.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 Is Eddy even THAT short? he'sover 6 feet right? Nah, Eddy's like in the 5'8 - 5'10ish range.
Guest Anglesault Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 Is Eddy even THAT short? he'sover 6 feet right? Nah, Eddy's like in the 5'8 - 5'10ish range. Seriously? Shit, that's TINY. I always thought he was much bigger.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 That's probably because he's used roids before and is pumped up like hell.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 You didn't notice that he was one of the Vanilla *Midgets* for a reason? And yes, Eddy is very ripped. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Anglesault Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 You didn't notice that he was one of the Vanilla *Midgets* for a reason? I thought he was at lest 6'
Guest humongous2002 Posted September 27, 2002 Report Posted September 27, 2002 Eddy is 5'8" and pound for pound the best wrestler overall, he could carry Edge blindfolded in a match.
