Mike Holmgrem

Here I am watching ESPN for my football fix, about Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers during the early years of grooming the wild QB. The round table of the coaching staff consist of the Head Coach of Holmgrem with his assistants of Steve Marucci, Marty Morningweg, Andy Reid, Mike Sherman, Dick Jaurdon, Gruden. Most if not all of these assistants of Holmgrem are now NFL head coaches.

Now I cannot think of any other coach than maybe Bill Walsh or Bill Parcells or Paul Brown that made such a impact on the league....the West Coast Offense is everywhere is the dominate prefered offense and it comes from these coaching demigods.

Forgot about Jimmy Johnson of Dallas :bonk: as some of his assistants did move on to become Head Coaches also.

I think Bill Cowher has had a few assistants go on to become coaches as well. I can't think of them right now, but I know of at least 2, and I think more. I dont think quite as many as Holmgren though.

Walsh taught him and some of his assistants, so I think he deserves the credit.

Mike is not Overrated, its just he is having problems with the Seahawks who in the very weak NFC West, as bad as they are they still could make the playoffs

Ok back to Holmgrem as the Super Coach, yes he was an assistant to the Bill Wash who was assistant to Paul Brown, I think. These men work a system that brings results, as the 49ers and Packers won several Superbowls.

Mike Holgrem is not overrated just look what he did with the Packers with Brett Favre. He took a team which basically ran the offense through Sterling Sharp and were the doormat of the NFC Norris Black & Blue Central division. Holgrem brought in star free agents like Reggie White and worked the draft to make Superbowl champions out of a team in probably the smallest market in the country.

And just like his mentor Bill Walsh, Mike Holgrem has made his assistants into NFL headcoachs just look at the results:

Bears

Lions

Packers

Eagles

49ers

Bucs

all of these coaches worked for Holgrem during the Packers time period. And look at the results, Andy Reid took the Eagles deep in the playoffs and uses the Westcoast Offense with trick plays. Jon Gruden took the Raiders deep in the playoffs and has a good Buc team which destroys the opponets with Defense. Marty of the Lions maybe losing games right and left but not every game is a blow out.

Holmgren is not overrated. He is a great coach. The problem is that he's a lousy GM, and it undermines his coaching in Seattle.
