Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 Here Someone needs to be fired..
Guest starvenger Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 Oy. I hope that this wasn't the script that Brett Ratner was so high on, because this sounds like the kind of script that McG would've liked.
Guest Ozymandias Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 I think I should put this in the "Most Depressing Movies" thread. A Kryptonian Luthor? Yep, that'll work. If you wanna cheer yourselves up after this latest Superman debacle, go here. It's a FAKE review of a Batman: Year One script supposedly written by Frank Miller and Darren Aronofsky. It's obviously bullshit. It's set in the 70's, complete with a drug-kingpin Penguin and featuring a JIVE-TALKIN' ALFRED~! among other insanities. It's also written in a borderline illiterate style. But the stupid fuck who runs AICN still posted it as a legit news scoop. It's good for a laugh, and is a good reminder that when it comes to Warner Bros. it can always be much, much worse.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 Ok, this is what happens when people take HARRY FUCKING KNOWLES seriously
Guest Lethargic Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 The Superman script is different from the Year One script. First of all, Harry did the Batman one. I believe Moriarty did Superman and it's not that gullible it seems. Also, the Superman script is a hard copy that he got his hands on. The Year One if I remember correctly was just something somebody emailed to Harry. ANYBODY could make up a script review and mail it in. Nobody besides loons would ever actually write a whole script, have it printed to Hollywood standards and then find this Moriarty guy and give it to him. I'm afraid the Superman one is the real deal. The good thing is that it's an early draft that's still being tweaked as we speak. But still....when you start with total shit, you can't fix that. And when you have a total piece of shit like Brett Ratner trying to fix a total piece of shit script written by a total piece of shit like JJ Abrams....I don't have much hope. Warner Brothers hasn't made a good comic book movie yet, probably never will.
Guest razazteca Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 who did the Tim Burton Batman movie?
Guest Lethargic Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 who did the Tim Burton Batman movie? Who did the Tim Burton Batman movie? Tim Burton did the Tim Burton Batman movie.
Guest Tony149 Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 who did the Tim Burton Batman movie? If you're asking who wrote BATMAN (1989) -- that would be Sam Hamm. BATMAN RETURNS was written by Daniel Walters. Although Hamm got a credited as a writer. Tim Burton directed the first two BATMAN movies. I wouldn't be shocked if the Superman script is real. WB has no idea how to make a good superhero film.
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 Funny, I thought Superman II was a great superhero movie, and it was made by Warner. It was certainly better than Spider-Man.
Guest Tony149 Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 Funny, I thought Superman II was a great superhero movie, and it was made by Warner. It was certainly better than Spider-Man. I'm talking about post BATMAN & ROBIN WB. WB wanting a lighter and more commerical Batman caused a lot of the problems they (WB) have with superhero films today.
Guest Lethargic Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 Funny, I thought Superman II was a great superhero movie, and it was made by Warner. It was certainly better than Spider-Man. I just rewatched Superman II a few weeks ago and I did nothing but laugh at how bad it was. I remember thinking that movie was the shit back in it's day now I just thought it was shit. Every time I heard something like "KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!!!" I did a friggin spit-take. And I can't forget to mention the GIGANTIC plothole. I'm Superman....I'm giving up my powers for good, FOREVER, I can NEVER get them back, I'm a complete human now........ one scene later Ok, got my powers back. How? Don't matter. Got em back. I'm Superman again. I'll go with Superman being good but I can't go with the sequels. And since then? Hasn't been a one. What's that like 25 years? And the Warner Brothers of today is very different from THAT Warner Brothers.
Guest kane3212321 Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 Hey at least that script provided the Gordon has a beer and cheets on his wife joke that will forever be quoted in the talkbacks in that site.
Guest starvenger Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 Coming Attractions has a pretty decent recap of the entire Superman saga, starting with the Kevin Smith stuff all the way through to, well, today, I guess. Very interesting stuff.
Guest Lethargic Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 Hey at least that script provided the Gordon has a beer and cheets on his wife joke that will forever be quoted in the talkbacks in that site. I know. That stuff is great. I've added that in to every script I've written since then and will try to get in every one from now on. It's hilarious how every single time a comic book news report is posted there is always some hysterical variation of that quote.
Guest The Notorious CRD Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 I read Moriarty's review of the script. At first, it didn't seem so bad. But then I see... **SPOILERS!!** *Krypton, Jor-El, Lara, etc., all alive and well *superbeings all over *Superman dying and then being convinced to come back by Jor-El... who killed himself to convince Kal-El to go back *Super Lex Luthor /**SPOILERS!!** Just... no. Warner Bros. needs to leave the comic book films to Marvel because someone over at WB obviously has no clue why X-Men, Spider-Man, and Blade have all successfully translated to the big screen so well.
Guest Tony149 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 AOL Time Warner owns two of the most popular, if not the two biggest comic names of all-time. Yet WB can't put together a good film. WB is like the Hollywood version of WCW. You got the top two names (Batman & Superman) but you don't know what to do. Oddly enough, WCW was once owned by (AOL) Time Warner.
Guest Maven's Eyebrows Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Lex Luthor flies and does kung fu? Krypton doesn't explode? Superman dies, so Jor-el kills himself and CONVINCES HIS SON TO COME BACK TO LIFE??? Jesus, this debacle is going to make Batman and Robin look like a cross between the Godfather and Citizen Kane. If it ever gets made, that is (which I doubt it will).
Guest Sassquatch Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 I can't tell you all what I am feeling right now after reading that shit... Actually, I can. I want to stab my eyes and purge this awful read from my mind right now. The pure stupidity and retardation of this script is just insane. There are so many fucking things that I could say about this script and why everyone associated with it should burn in Hell but I'll refrain from doing so. My God, I pray to God this is a big fucking joke on the fans...
Guest Lethargic Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Abrams writer is saying that the script they reviewed is the first draft and that it has undergone a lot of changes and more are to come. If that's true...what the hell did WB see in it to begin with that said they wanted to even try to work on it?

If that's true...what the hell did WB see in it to begin with that said they wanted to even try to work on it? WB sees big bucks, thanks to Spider-Man. What else could it be? So what? What does that have to do with wanting to make a SHITTY movie? Spiderman was a hit because it was good and it didn't piss off it's audience. All they did was take the comic book and put it on the screen almost exactly. So that argument makes no sense. If WB noticed that, they would do the same thing. They wouldn't COMPLETELY destroy the entire Superman story.
Guest Karnage Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 There's a petition that might prevent this from being made.
Guest Ozymandias Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 Just be thankful you never read Moriarty's review of William Farmer's Sandman script, also commissioned by Jon "The Incubus" Peters. Oh, whoops.... Anyway, these people don't REALIZE this will be garbage. They're Warner Bros. They know NOTHING. They made Batman and Robin. They made Wild, Wild West. They've allowed the Incubus to control the Superman (and Sandman) properties for over half a decade in spite of him being unqualified and unable to make a decent movie out of it. When it comes to the stupidity of Warners, all bets are off. They'll make this because it is a trilogy (they don't realize it will fail so badly that they'll never get to make 2 more) and trilogy=franchise=money.
Guest Sassquatch Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 Will the title of the movie be called Superman 5?
Guest Ozymandias Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 I've never heard. Once it was going to be Superman Lives, then Superman Reborn. But those were never even official titles. I just call it Superman 5/S5 out of convenience and simplicity.
Guest Sassquatch Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 Supershit 5 is more like it. It seems that the curse of the shitty franchise lives on through an even more retarded and quite possiblt offensive script then Smith or Burton could have hoped to put together.
Guest Lethargic Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 Last I heard the script was called Superman - Last Son of Krypton. Which begs the question, if Krypton doesn't explode how can he be the last son of Krypton?
Guest Sassquatch Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 Common sense does not follow in this movie. The title of the movie is fitting if you think about how fucked up the movie itself is.
Guest Tony149 Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 I read an interview where director McG said it was going to be called SUPERMAN: GENESIS. It appears McG will be replace or already is replaced as director of the next Superman movie.
Guest Sassquatch Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 I was not too impressed with McG's "Charlie's Angels" like a lot of people I know and I am not looking forward to seeing him be the director of the new Superman movie (which is already looking like complete shit). I pray that McG has *some* sense about who Superman really is and takes a different route with Supes than what I have read so far. But I will not get my hopes up for McG to come and save the day by salvaging something good from this abomination.
