Well Harry had read the script and guess what. He likes it. I guess WB gave him a big pie or something.

Heres the link!

Every producer now feels that every movie starring comic books characters must not be able to wear tights.

Funny how Spider-Man's costume wasn't changed at all and his movie went on to shatter box office records and the fans loved it. Too bad the suits in charge do not feel this way.

iirc, another reason was that they could never make spandex look dark enough for a serious movie, hence Batman's rubberized armour/suit (well, in part anyway). But I do hope that the success of Spider-Man and the gawd-awful look of the Daredevil costume have designers considering returning to having superheroes wear tights.

wrt Superman, I could live without the red undershorts. I mean, just leave them off if you really don't like it. But basketball shorts? Geez, why not make him a skatepunk while you're at it?

Harry's nothing more than a shill with a fucking annoying website as far as I'm concerned.

I don't really care about the costumes. I don't really care that it is not the same as the comics. What I do care about, is the fact that this movie SUCKS. Even if it was a new superhero they created, it would still suck. It's just a bad script, period.

JJ Abrams called Harry Knowles and buddied up to him for a couple of hours. That's why he likes it now.

The reason studios change costumes for the movies is for money. That way they can make toys of the character and they get more money than the people that own the original Batman design. If you make a blue and gray tight wearing Batman figure, the guys that made that are gonna get the money. But if you make Batman with a black rubber suit, that's WB's design so they get a bigger piece of it.

"If ain't broke then don't fix it."

I think that saying applies in this discussion.

The Batman costume worked out when it first appeared in Burton's movie. The DC fans for the most part accepted the costume from the movie. In 1994, DC decided to change the comic book costume to match the movie version costume. It was a welcomed change and a sign of evolution. Batman had changed his costume's look several times throughout his career up to that point and the one constant is that DC always took a lot of care in making changes to Bats.

I like the idea of Superman being involved in an all-out war with super powered beings but the way the movie has it is just downright terrible.

I thought the part with the jets and kryptonite missiles sounded good on paper.

Batman & Robin seems like Reservoir Dogs compared to this script. Superman's dad commits suicide to tell his son to come back to life? Zuh?
